I've been messing around with that as well to see what I want to look like now. I'm thinking Elf Female this time around.

It looks like they're keeping the equippable skills mechanic so folks can hop in and provide some extra healing beside the dedicated healers. Tanking you have Warriors and Paladins, specializing in something different for both.

Really does have this just one more quest feeling especially when I go and turn one in and start like two more in the same area.

Lots of these starter quest are pretty damn awful. I guess they server their purpose getting you familiar with the cities. So many of them though. :(

I feel like the interface is super busy too. Adding in all those targeting lines and effects everywhere... jesus, information overload. I haven't dug into all the options so hopefully I can cut back on some of this information. GW2 kind of spoiled me, love that interface.

I'm liking the game despite these issues. Thankfully like FFXI you can do everything on a single character so all the lackluster starter quest shouldn't be an issue. I'm enjoying the combat and I look forward to see how it plays out in the later levels. Hopefully there it's a bit like FFXI group play because that was the highlight of mmo combat for me. I participated in a few dynamic events and it was pretty fun. Nothing ground breaking but enjoyable. I also haven't really done much exploring but areas look pretty big. Hopefully you can explore and find something interesting things out there like you could in FFXI.

Few questions since I haven't dug through the beta forums yet...
Anyone know if the beta client will just turn into the final build when it comes time to launch?
What about the character creations saves you can make now, any chance they will carry into the final game?
Anyone find a way to get SLI to work?
How will "jobs" work in this game?
You will be able to pick you're city in the final build now? Kind of crappy the way it works now.

So is there only one healer and tank class in the game? The description are somewhat vague.

Well, what happens is that White Mage is a pure healer, but you get stuff like Scholar that is focused around regenerative skills. I think Warrior also has some skills focused in increasing its damage as it takes more, so it's more like there are different approaches to each role. Or at least, that's what I got.

I joined the back of this queue shortly after taking the screenshot. Two hours! Glad I beat it on my first attempt.

If that was on Ultros, I think I started that line! Got sick of black screen after black screen as the instance failed to load due to 30 people right clicking the initiation thing at once.

Does anyone know how long the servers are up for in this phase? Someone just told me the servers are going down like really fast and that didn't seem to make sense to me. So I wanted to fact check this, but I don't see anything concrete.

I'm done with the main storyline for Beta. I think it's been excellent so far, lots of potential. Storytelling is much improved from V1, too. It feels like a reboot AND a sequel to the original story at the same time, and I foresee some great twists down the road.
I was able to join the Flames and get my Chocobo companion which has been a competent healer. It's going to be fun when they unlock the growth system for companions.
My biggest concern remains the latency, even with the new data center: as a EU player, I've experienced big lag spikes and the same issues that plagued V1 on (slight boss fight spoiler for new players, not so much for Legacy players)
Ifrit
battle. I hope they fix it for launch it but I won't get my hopes up.

That queue's on Moogle(EU). But I'm assuming similar scenes all over, ha.

I sincerely doubt Yoshi-P and the crew will enjoy seeing these screenshots popping up across the online message boards. The pictures can't look good to people checking in on the game! Which is a shame, because the game's pretty damn sweet.

So how does this game compare to GW2? I was beyond hyped for that game but the combat really, really let me down, it just felt so simplistic. I understand that this is hotkey based as well, but I'm hoping it has more depth than Guild Wars 2 did. This game is themepark through and through though, right?

From the time this is posted you have 6 hours and 37 minutes.

So I bought the game within the first couple of months of release, and I haven't been accepted into beta. I guess the legacy players are the only ones accepted? Will I have to subscribe again when it's released before I'm even able to get in and take a look?

The first month will be free, I believe. After that you will need to sub. As for being beta or not, unless you are a legacy player, you need to fill the beta signup in the OP to be selected for beta. That said, I'm pretty sure you don't need to buy another copy.

This line stuff happened in FFXI when Fellowship NPCs came out, IIRC.

This game is running great on my lappy's HD 4000. ~20-40fps on Standard detail, 1280x800. That's pretty nice.

Ugh. That's rather disappointing. I signed up for beta when it was first announced, but that didn't lead to anything. I guess it's just poor luck, but eh. I know I don't need to buy another copy, though, or that would definitely be upsetting.

Been enjoying phase 3... they've made some huge improvements since phase 1 (i was too busy for phase 2). especially in the area of the client UI, performance and flushing the world out a bit more. it's just frustrating that it's only for a couple days before they lock it off again... :(

(Don't judge me because I don't play that many MMOs ) I thought the wait in line was something only asian mmo had, I've been living a lie haha.
Is that the main quest where you have to kill a bunch of trees with the help of 2 NPCs?

This beta is going to end that quick?! oh boo. I'm sort of having fun with this. I don't play MMOs.

Found someone to team up with but i don't think i'm that good of a partner. I kind of suck. haha ^^'

I'm glad I finished that Magicked Blade quest the first day the beta was up. There were only like 5 people around the stump trying to do it at once and it would error out all the time. I see why there's a huge line now, though.

Level 18 today. Did the Pirates + Fire Gloom party quests with Zeta and some people. Was pretty fun! Was getting 100% bonus Exp. for a while in the second dungeon. Didn't get any loot though (._. )

Edit: Just looked at the screen, not the quest I was talking thinking although that one also had a line tonight.

I stood in that Ultros line for two hours today, just beat it about an hour ago. I was so worried I would die in the fight, lol.

I ended up having to train the little mobs, while the NPCs took care of the lvl 12 tree. Then, once he was dead, they turned their attention to the train and took them out easily. I couldn't attack them because they kept interrupting my casting.

Scree Lakshmi is my character if anyone wants to say hello. :)

Those lines are outrageous, you know you need to fix something if people are waiting in line to get into a quest. Btw I was one of the people who accidentally cut in line. You can't really blame people who just run up and do the quest, because most probably doesn't even know why people are forming a line.

I walked in and thought people were doing a guild activity or something, and then discover that people are doing that to actually get into the quest. Glad I got it over with quick even though it was wrong to do.

Me too :(

Me and my bro are trying to figure out how to play together he started in a different city then me though for some reason :(

The city you start in is based on the class you pick, you get the ability to freely go between cities after the level 15 main story quest
