Kinda silly that you can accept a quest, complete it's objectives, but not turn it in for a reward because you're too low a level.

Yep, happened to me, did 3 quests and they were locked at lvl10, so I had to do a few fates to level up inorder to complete them.

There are quests in other regions you can go do, but without story quests you'll need to fill in that missing exp. with FATEs, Hunting Log, Guildleves, etc.

The fastest way to level is to do dungeons, though, which start at Level 15.

I already did the uldah/grindania quests but I thought I'd leave limsa for marauder, so say if I did all the quests/huntlogs in all 3 nations, what happens if I want to level another class from lvl1 to 15 :o, just old fashion grind? Because at lvl12 and 13 the tnl is 20k, and fate aren't always as frequent.

Hunting Longs, Levequests as much as you can, and chase FATEs.

They really should just make Levequests unlimited, then there's no issue of running out of stuff to do.

Tried that, to Bubble, Khronos and the other 3 guys on page 1 and no one is available =/

I'll jump on and get ya if someone else doesn't beforehand.

I already did most of the huntlogs though, and they will eventually run out for your 4th job!

I'll probably do guildleves when my friends are on and see how it goes, soloing them is kind of slow and they only give around 1.5k each (with 23k to level up at lvl13)

Well, hunting logs are per class, not nation.

And, yeah, at that point you're probably going to have to grind and do guildleves, I guess?

I haven't done them much in 2.0 yet, but guildleves were good exp. in 1.0. And if you're leveling other things in other regions, you should have a stockpile of leves.

Until when will this phase of the beta go on? Sorry if the info is readily available somewhere.

Hunting Logs are per class, so you won't run out on a class/job basis. That said, I wish there were more of them.

I posted about this too, and I posted on the beta forums about it. I hope Yoshida realized that people will get very pissed off when they find out that the only way to level up their later jobs is solely through grinding.

In all honesty, leveling through grinding is more fun than doing the Non-Class, Non-Story quests. At least you get to pick what targets you take on and how difficult it is. :P

But yeah I agree. Open up the content a bit more so that people don't have to resort to grinding if they don't want to.

I actually like grinding, but I hope they are actually as fast as doing those fetch quests, I haven't actually tried putting a group together so I don't know, I just don't see people shouting for exp groups

just got into beta, got my old level 50 marauder back. Wow so impressed with the changes. Cant wait to sub back into the game when it launches.

Though i think im going to start fresh on a new character and do everything all over.

I am really really shocked, hats off to Yoshi P and group.

Man, I don't understand this sentiment at all.

You can start a new class and do everything AND keep your L50 Warrior.

a lot of my classes are in their mid 30s other than my mrd. Is it wrong to want to start over new?

I feel so much has changed with the game for me. That I would be taking all the fun out of learning the world over if I had a level handicap from an old version of the game where the game itself was very different.

Hehe I got into the locked out Zaharak. Some sort of shrine in there.

And I don't understand why peeps would keep their level capped characters with giant piles of money, thus rendering the entire game up until the cap completely irrelevant and a chore rather than an exciting new world to explore.

I'm really liking this game and I've never really enjoyed an MMO. I wonder if that's a bad thing. I've never payed monthly to play one before either. Played the beta for XI on 360 and always 14 to 30 day free trials. Most of the MMOs I've played for long periods of time were non-subscription based. I got sick of those. I might give it a go. Heck, I own WoW up to Cataclysm, but haven't put money into my account since I bought it.

If someone would be kind enough to share an invite, I'd like to try this game over the long weekend. Thanks!
I'd like to second this sentiment. My friend got in recently as she is loving it so far (she really doesn't play MMOs) and would like the chance to try it out for myself. Like her, I don't really play MMOs so I'm hoping I'd enjoy it just as much lol.

Yet no one has a completely maxed out character. Everyone needs to level arcanist ;)

Anyone on Ragnarok here?

Btw, it's kinda sad that Jobs no longer have unique abilities (Thief sprint, BLM warp, WHM teleport, etc). I understand why they did it, but... meh.

My pile of money isn't that big.

And I can experience and explore the game as Arcanist. And I've got other things that aren't capped, too.

...?

Every Job has five unique abilities, just not movement-oriented ones.

And, really, I think one of the biggest improvements of XIV over XI is that they worked to make travel convenient and easy. The XI team seemed to think it would lose countless months of subscription time if you could get where you wanted quickly.

Well, yeah. I'm not saying they should have copied XI at 100%, where every little thing took to 30 minutes to 5 hours (Yo, Chocobo quest) or where every trip to Windy was a pain, but i really liked that uniques that abilities like Warp and Teleport added to the game.
Plus, i played BLM/WHM so it was never a big issue for me.

Did this 5 times at level 14 ~ 15 as a THM... I just can't

As a THM, what really helped me during this fight is the sleep spell. Since most (all?) of his attacks are physical/close range, you can just cast sleep on the demon, run away, fling a few spells at him, he'll run towards you, when he gets close, cast sleep again, repeat.

The sleep status effect will last shorter and shorter the more you use it on one enemy, so it'll probably still be a hard fight. But with this strategy I got through it after 5 tries of forgetting I even had sleep. That spell is a real lifesaver for a TMH in solo story missions with multiple enemies.

In other news, just finished Copperbell Mines. Really fun dungeon, just sucks that I have to redo it again because I missed 1(!) creature for my hunting log...

Thanks for the sentiment then. :D

What I want to know, is who initially invited me. When I was still in the first tutorial. I hadn't even given my character's name to anyone at that point. LOL.

That was me (Bubble Gum). Saw you mention your char. name in the forum so I sent an inivite your way. Also sent the other one. Welcome! :)

Awesome! At that point I only said Azusa, the first name, glad you were able to find me. The game's great so far, I'll contribute to the group more as we go further along here. :D

Also, having to re-do the first part is so painful. ><
Protip: run to gridania, get conjurer and level it until u get protect (level 10) or if you don't mind until you get raise (level 12)
That fight becomes super easy with cure and protect, in fact I think protect is basically essential for soloing, especially since I think all classes can use it

Alright, I'm level 21 and I got my chocobo. I'm probably done with the beta for now until I can possibly buy the game. I'm not sure that I want to stick with Gladiator anymore. I'm not really sure that tanking is my style. I've done pretty well with it, but there's something more satisfying about dealing damage too, and Gladiators don't do shit.

Just saw my friend playing the beta on his pc, looks so crisp and smooth. Got a ps3 beta code the frame rate is.... yeah =_=

Gunna get this on pc for sure on release.

Fortunately, this game is designed in a way so that characters with some level capped classes (in my case, two) have no problems experiencing content. Most of the interesting (and required) battles are going to be level capped. Joining guilds and doing those quests are still going to be a priority even at cap. You'll be rushing to get those dungeons done like any low level would. On top of this, it is very easy to start fresh by simply focusing on a new class.

As for money... what is even the point of money in this game right now? Getting over gil-sinks like teleports, housing, crafting materials, etc? That is an area of the "world" that is not very new nor exciting to explore. I don't really see the downside of having that done already. For fun I'm making a new character on the same server as my legacy one (Sargatanas) and I don't see why it is bad thing that I will be able to share gil and items between them.

Yeah. MRD is a lot of fun for leveling and instances. I think I'll roll one out to be a WAR tank. Secondary I'll work on SCH and a third either to DRG or MNK. Hell, I'll just level them all at some point anyway. lol

reached lvl 17 with Marauder and played two instance dungeons (one in Limsa Lomnisa and Gridania)
The dungeons were fun, but nothing special. I was with a person who have played those dungeons before so it was easier.

Still thinking which class I will start when phase 4 starts. I am thinking either Lancer of Pugilist. Does anyone know their strength/weakness for those two classes?

This game is really shaping up to be damn good. Playing solo is fun. Playing in parties is fun. It is accessible yet ridiculously deep in how you can customize your character.

I just figured out how you can pick skills from other classes and it basically changed the whole game for me. Once I got my conjurer up to 8, my lancer became much more versatile in the fact that not only can I DD for the party, but I can also be an auxiliary healer/buffer for the party as well. I'm chomping at the bits to start exploring how other classes can augment my main lancer class.

How is the PS3 version?

Has anyone else thought about the possibility of the PS4 version streaming to their Vita?

This is what I'm hoping is possible. Don't care much to do raids and other critical events while on vita (because lets face it, the latency from the server + the latency from the streaming process will probably be noticable), but I'm hoping I can at least do crafting/gathering on the go.

Chances graphics and framerate are going to improve with the release on PS3? Because it's really bad for now :(

They will probably improve it a bit with updates and added options to restrict player count and effects. I wouldn't expect anything drastic though. If the game ends up being a success expect it to run far worse because of all the other players running around.

The main problem I have with it, other than the general lack of polish and visual quality, it's the animations... maybe it's the same on PC, but it's as if they cutted animations for everything. Monsters attack are skipping sequences and you see this mushrooms one moment doing one movement and then skip already to the end of that animation without passing through the middle-animations that comes inbetween the start and the end. It's madness...

That's really bad. FFXI let you choose to cut animation frames to increase the overall frame-rate. Can't imagine how bad this game will run on launch with all those players.

I have not notice this on the PC, at least on max settings.
