And today's patch, folks, is why you don't grind on FATES and rush to the end game. It happens in every MMO, people devouring content faster than developers can add it and then wondering why they don't have anything to do but "grind". Take a break, play a new class, do some crafting, try running instances for the fun and not the "phat loot", and maybe you won't feel like it's such a grind. New content will get added, more avenues for collecting tomes will be added, they just aren't going to happen two weeks after the game is released.

It's like none of the complainers have ever played an MMO before. They keep making the same mistakes every time a new game is released and then they wanna blame the developer for "making" them play this way. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Wait so I'm getting conflicting Info regarding the changes - Dark Matter 5. Can I farm this out in the world, or does it only drop from AK?

If the latter... God damn it square.

Neither? Dark matter is a vendor item, that can also be purchased from your GC for seals. No word on if that price changed.

Thanks for telling me how to play the game.

Except I've done all that.

No this is what happens when the game actually freaking starts in end game so everyone tries to level everything to the cap to get to it

Also whew are you to tell ppl how to play their game?

The stories I hear from endgame are leagues worse than anything I encountered in any MMO.

Honestly, I think we're hearing about the worst of the worst. I'm getting fairly close to the end game, and still haven't encountered these issues on the Duty Finder. That doesn't mean these issues aren't real though, just, that they aren't omnipresent.

As somebody else said, the trial period ending will probably alleviate some of these problems.

Except you're factually wrong. Most of all the content (and all the story) in this game is during the leveling process. If the game had more end game raids/dungeons than it does now then I'd agree with you.

People blow through MMO leveling nowadays like they're WoW expansions.

It starts with Cape Westwind (the first 8 man boss fight) and goes downhill from there.

Bye no one is here for that slow mess. The game starts @ 50

As evidence shows everyone and their minion leveling to get to 50 so they can do the fun stuff

Calling customer service is painful.

Of course you have to wait, the waiting wouldn't be all that bad if not for the fact after a dozen rings will go in and then you get the canned message of how they will answer you in the order which you called since all lines are currently busy. Then you go back to the ringing and the message will repeat again.

Repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat.

I have never before so longed for the horrible waiting music as I have now.

When I called on the first week there was just a dial tone. That's it.

Legacy players were already at 50.
I had more fun during the story arcs than the endgame arcs.
I'm more interested in Coil for the fact that the story continues through it, not because I want endgame gear.

Pretty sure a number of us are here for that "slow mess"

And yeah, I would love to see BCNMs make a comeback. The Guildhest system seems almost designed for that exact thing, but people just ignore it or only run them the first time for the EXP bonus. Just make some high end lv50 Guildhests that require like 5-10 tomes to get into or something, and have the same kinda drop rates that BCNMs had. Maybe you won't get that great piece of gear you're looking for, but if they had some other high-value drops then it would give another option for end-game income.

They did mention that skirmish like battles will become part of the guildhest's, also special events (Villains from other FF games) and boss fights etc.

Hm, not sure on how to access Moonfire Faire. I talked to the NPC in Limsa and heard there is a FATE in Costa Del Sol, but I'm too low level. What do? D:

For my fellow Pug/Mnk, what combo are you using? I'm lvl 26 and still trying to figure out the best combo to use

Bootshine + Twin Snakes + Snap Punch, Bootshine + Twin Snakes + Snap Punch, back to the first one, while keeping up Touch of Death and intermingling your CDs.

There's a similar fate in the starter areas iirc.

So I'm trying to complete the Hunting Log for my GC and I have to track back and go to Halatali and kill 2 mobs in here, just killed 1 of them and didn't receive the kill in the Hunting Log.

Don't tell me I have to do this on a different class at level 20?

Says the majority on every server Fate grinding right now

You make it sound like that's the only way to level up until 50. I'm at 41 and I've only grinded in Coerthas for an hour (mainly for seals). All my other levels are a result of me progressing the overall enjoyable story, completing the sidequests alongside the main story, clearing dungeons with friends to get new gear, guildhests, and leves. There's a lot of fun things to do in this game which can get you to cap, without it feeling like a "slow mess".

The game in no way starts at 50, theres a dearth of end-game content at the moment (1 post story 4 man dungeon you'll have to run at least 60 times (YAY THE FUN STUFF), 1 post story raid and 3 post story arenas). The bulk of the games content is in the story which is experienced while levelling. Even if people are skipping side quests (which can be a good idea to help level job number 2) to level with fate grinding thats not incompatible with engaging with the story.

Speed runs and subscription fees go together like ketchup and motor oil. They get less money by letting you reach the wall faster. Why would they ever want less money? Lol.

I've seen the FATE in Central Shroud and Thanalan. The level varies depending on the area so everyone can join in :) it's called "Return of the king" I think. After you complete it you get wet ash and you exchange that for the event's bathing suits.

This is why I miss the hard life of FFXI. You had to complete limit break quest to earn the privilege of gaining 5 more levels.

Speak for yourself.

I and many others are here for that "slow mess". As a seven year Final Fantasy XI veteran, I had just as much fun clearing story missions as I did doing end game content. I'm digging the story in Final Fantasy XIV as well so far, and I'm in no rush to burn through it and skip cutscenes just to get high end gear faster.

FFXI had so many stopping points. Subjub, Kazham airship, limit break at level 50 and every 5 levels after that.
Sometimes it felt like they didnt want anyone to ever hit the cap :p

As Alucrid points out, just go Bootshine -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch for now and toss in your CDs and Touch of Death in there (and fracture as well if you're using it. Your moves a bit limited until high level so that's the only real variation you can do.

Honestly as long as you keep greased lightning up you will do decent dps. No one will notice if you do anything else unless they parse you lol.

Also make sure you are on the flank / back at the correct times.

However, there are better rotations, a simple example is switch twin snakes with true strike so you can have dmg and crit buff active at the same time.

I meant for the second one to be True Strike not Twin Snakes :(

But yeah, not a lot to do at that level

Ah yes. True Strike as well. I forgot about that.

So yeah, substitute Twin Snakes for True Strike every other cycle and you should be good.

The thing here is, it's not the kb that killed her it's the fact that whenever he does a landslide it also makes the platform smaller. So, running just out of the "motorway" like I call it is not enough. Best run out and towards the middle to make sure you are not out on the areas that will break/get smaller.

If that makes any sense..
I tried to pause the video and it seems that she falls because the floor under her crumbles as the platform gets smaller.
The issue is the animation and actually ability are so far out of sync they're causing people to get hit even though they've clearly ran out of the danger zone.

I feel like the horror stories everyone is running into are the elitists that hit 50 right away. I also think when the casuals hit 50, there will be less of a problem.

I'm just upset that for most of us, the boat has gone for AK speed runs while the people that rushed it cashed in.

Made a character on Ultros this morning (finally). Have five days to decide if I want to sub. Here goes!

Needs more sassy gaga gifs

I got 50 relatively quickly but I'm in no rush to get to Bahamut. I'm perfectly happy running AK when other FC members want to, and I plan on spending the majority of my time now leveling my WHM, gathering and crafting while helping my friends and FC members progress through story.

If people want to clear all the endgame content as quickly as possible and move on to the next MMO launch that's fine by me. I'm in it for the long haul and could do without some of those players.

I never play MMORPGs for end game. Grinding the same things over and over so I can look at higher numbers has zero appeal to me.

The leveling experience is where the fun is. And thankfully this one has a lot of leveling to experience. And every class has their own little story too. Lots of content here prior to end game.

End game, on the other hand, seems to be lacking a bit right now. So I feel the claim that the game starts at 50 is false.

I didn't get the kill for Firemane but I did for the 2nd boss.

So now I have to re queue and wait 30 minutes just to kill 1 mob in hope that it actually works this time. Sigh.
