For when the other dps aren't paying attention/are dead and there is only 3 of youYou can kill Connla with one party normally, why do you need a melee LB3 for that lol

Scathath is harder for me than diabolo. I have trouble keeping track of what mechanic is going on since they just rapid fire one after another.
Plus Diablos he kills himself after you get him down to like 40%.
Tough decision tonight, romantic Valentines evening with the wife or GAF Dun scaith. Romantic evening with the wife at Dun Scaith maybe? Red if we're not there tonight blame Chocolate.
Low. We're still missing one half of 3.5 and they won't risk spoiling the plot.I am so hyped for fan fest after catching up in the story. What are the odds that we get the full CGI intro this time?

It's so weird how DRG and NIN get more leeway in their combos between positionals and TP while MNK gets jack shit.Looking at that thread (and of course Monk's TP problems in general due to GL3) maybe they should change tornado kick so it gets purifications effect? Maybe drop it to 200 TP instead since it'll do damage and drop the potency since it now also gives you TP. This way you still lose something since you drop GL, but you're not losing as much as not doing anything while you use meditation, in addition to giving a OGCD ability to line up during your CD usage.
missed positional potency buff would be welcome too because it'd mean stupid PF monks wouldn't place feet-aoes where they don't belong because muh positionals
You could argue that the casual stuff is the most fleshed out part of the game, between storylines and other things.Question for you guys: I got this game (just the base game, no expansions) as part of a Humble Bundle like a year ago and I played a bit during my free month (was in the early Dragoon quests if I remember correctly), but I stopped because I didn't have much time and the game was starting to get kinda grindy. Recently though, I've kind of been craving a kinda grindy game with some social elements, so I can just hop on sometimes while I'm listening to a podcast or something. Do you guys think the game is worth it for someone like me who probably won't have as much time as the avg MMO player to invest in the game? Are the more "casual" or social elements worth the price of admission?
Yeah, Monk is insanely fun but does have some glaring issues like Purification which is a terrible terrible skill. Monk is still like the most fun dps class in this game though. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and constantly moving. I know it is frustrating at times but it is fun, imo. I don't play Monk in raids though so I can't really comment on that front.

Purification is a joke in any fight that isn't A9S. If you have enough downtime to charge 5 chakra then you'll naturally regen TP, if you need to charge it mid fight because you ran out of TP and Invigorate is on CD then your DPS is already fucked beyond repair and getting Purification will just make it worse.idk, 300 extra TP is pretty nice. If you're not using Purification in the correct situation you're a bad MNK, and not sure if there are many fights that require you to actually stop DPSing to charge it up. Purification is fine.

I have no clue how to fix MNK besides removing INT down from Delirium so they offer at least something unique to raids.

The casual elements of the game are fantastic. Theres some amazing stuff for the more hardcore people, but I'd argue the best elements of the game are in the main storyline which gets better and better as you progress, especially towards the end and after 2.0 and only continues to improve.
And honestly at this point a lot of the side stuff that was considered hardcore is a lot more accessible now. You can easily run through the crystal tower and at least two of the HW 24 man raids fairly easily and even stuff like normal alexander.
Cool, thanks, I guess it might actually be worth picking up to at least finish the main questlines. I'm guessing Heavensward is also basically required playing at this point to get the full "casual" experience?

I can't think of a single fight where natural downtime regen isn't enough to carry you between Invigorate casts and even then it's better to just ask your BRD or MCH to TP song for a few seconds than to waste your biggest piece of burst. At best Purification gives you a way to regen TP after death if Invigorate is on CD, but then you just waste 5 seconds doing no damage. That's why you charge it during downtime and save it for when you need TP and invig is on cool down. You at worst miss out on one forbidden chakra, or you just use that when you know you absolutely won't need TP before the next downtime or the fight ends. It's really not rocket science.

They're both shit.If by biggest piece of burst you mean a 5k damage ability you get once or twice a fight, then sure? It's negligible tbh. I actually think Purification is the better ability of the two.
They're both shit. And if your Forbidden Chakras are doing 5k then you're doing something wrong.

As I said, if you're needing Purification anywhere outside of A9S your Invigorate timing needs work.
I only used it in progression and didn't really pad them, just one Rockbreaker with EF+HF was enough to make my TP get really fucky by the time Faust went down. On the downtime thing, I was talking about downtimes that allow you to charge 5 stacks in one go, if you have time to charge that then you won't need Purification. If you're needing Purification in A9S, stop padding the adds that hard and don't take 6 minutes to kill the thing? And I'm not sure you can really go in one post of noting their TP woes and then this post comment there's enough natural downtime. Our Monk asks for Goad pretty often, though he's a greedy fuck with uptime so, yes, the TP deficit is kind of a thing, albeit one that's easy to handle.
You're supposed to do them with a party the first time around, yeah. You'll have a hard time soloing them without capped aetherpool gear, just join a matched party and roll with it.Am I missing something with PotD? I've been trying to do 1-10 solo and I just can't beat the lvl 10 boss at lvl 18/19 with aetherpool around +3/4. I know it will get easier as i reset it since the aetherpol stats remain but am I supposed to do it in a group the first time? Or the fact I'm doing it as ninja holding me back? Can I join a random 1-10 group in duty finder and do it if I'm still learning the mechanics of PotD, or is that frowned upon?
When other classes had TP problems (or even when they didn't), they were boosted in patches. Monk's TP has never been adjusted. Instead, monk spent one of its abilities on it, and it costs damage to use, and it has a 2 minute timer. Yes, that timer has been an issue sometimes.
Despite this ability, monk still has the worst TP, and 2nd worst when they use purification.
Honestly I dunno whats the point of TP existing to begin with
Yeah, that's how it worked in XI from what I've read.Isn't TP something that was built up then consume for special attacks in previous games? I could be remembering that wrong.
Just wondering, if I did the PS3 to PS4 upgrade of FF14... how do I buy Heavensward? On PSN it says I don't own the PS4 version of FF14 (since I technically never bought it), so I'm not sure how to get it while it's still on sale.
I do believe that Heavensward is coming with a purchase of Stormblood. Think that was listed.
