Well, those following the game already knew that new jobs were coming. They were teased in the new storyline added in 2.2.
I didint think it was thread worthy, but no one in the FC wanted to do it, but yeah anyone following the game already knew

WoW launched November 23, 2004 with Molten Core and Onyxia available. Blackwing Lair was not added until 1.6 on July 12, 2005. Let's not act like WoW got rapid updates for raid players from the start.
I will come back to this game if it's a new class
Are people complaining about lack of content in here? Spoiled brats.
Well, the other argument it that it has been 9 years since WoW has pioneered this style of MMO. There was a lot more learning back then because it was still relatively new and WoW raid dungeons actually required the knowledge of pulling and killing trash. FFXIV raids you just go in and fight the boss, and also the player base has evolved a lot since then.
I don't know how Wildstar truly compares but from what I've read it seems like it's doing far better on the content side of things.
Anyway, I don't believe you would even argue that FFXIV has an amazing amount of content.
I think FF14 is impressive for an MMO that was created from the ground up in 2 years. It's much more successful than they ever dreamed it would be, so now they're playing catch up. I don't think it has enough content right now, but I also don't begrudge them that because of what they had to go through to even turn the game into something that people wanted to play in the first place. Things are beginning to pick up a little bit, and hopefully they will go more rapidly as we move forward. Time will tell.

I'm far less optimistic because if they truly thought they needed a lot more content I would think they could have done it by now. I don't see them spending a lot more money to retain or gain players because they've done quite well for themselves at this pace. But yeah, I wouldn't have retained my subscription until now if the game is bad. The few end-game fights they had are great but in terms of value for money it is quite poor. I only hope they have diverted a lot more resources to the expansion.
Anyway I've enjoyed the game but due to personal reasons I'll have to stop playing MMOs for a while so this will be my last month of my sub. I'd still recommend the game but hardcore raiders should think twice. Few people in my guild are still playing everyday gearing their 4th or 5th alt and that's not really for me even if I had time.
Do you think content just materializes out of thin air or something...?
Content materializes out of putting more people into creating more content and that requires putting more money into hiring people. There's no such thing as a hard limit to creating content. Only problems with management and budget.

This point has a bit of merit. XIV's budget after the launch seems to be very strict and seemingly small for such a successful product.
Content takes time to develop. You can't simply throw more people or money at it and expect it to go faster. We know from the GDC presentation that Yoshida is pretty strict about people working on the project too, given how they migrated staffers over from the original game (which they supported alongside developing A Realm Reborn) to the new one. There's also pacing of content to consider too; they've already delayed content before (Novus) because players weren't far enough ahead.
I have little doubt from the way the team's been developing content that they'll ramp things up as we go along. Already we've been promised new classes, new areas, and new dungeons. Even the patches have had a fairly decent amount of content in them, despite it not lasting three months.
As you mentioned, they are pacing their content (I don't know how true this is). So if they are, I don't expect them to substantially increase their pacing because they are comfortable with their current pacing. If you are comfortable with their current pacing then good for you. I certainly would have preferred a much faster content release schedule. If you told me we could have 2.2 in 5 months instead of 6 months, that doesn't change things that much.
But really, there's no need to put this argument here in a thread about new classes. Yay new classes.
We don't actually know this however. At best, you're just guessing, and there are so many factors we don't know about to say if your guess is worthwhile or not.
Did not love how they handled SMN
Hope they do a better job with thief/musketeer
Yeah :/I expected something similar to FFXI's summoner, myself. Shame it turned out the way it did. I would have loved to try that class. Right now, I'll stick it out with my Paladin though. Hoping to see a level cap increase and some new skills for each class too. Seeing skills based around other Final Fantasy games would be great too.
I will come back to this game if it's a new class
If I had to guess(and I could be wrong about this) you'd probably play a pretty good Ninja or Thief.
Yeah :/
Even ffxi had to suffer through elementals
So I hope things change down the line
Lol

I'm not so much bummed how they look, but more how boring smn is to play.Boring rotation with boring summons with boring spells.
Hey that's actually the worst part about FFXIV: The boring, simple combat. Hopefully the new classes are exciting to play and I might resub.

Anyway, it's not even fair to compare since WoW was made in another era and while the budget for it was ~60 million, it would easily be four time as expensive in 2014 to make a new mmorpg with the same scope. I think both Knights of the old republic and Elder's scroll online were made with budget of ~200 million which illustrate the inflating cost of modern mmos..

They're finally gonna add Musketeer? Remember wanting to play that before 1.0. They took the Musketeer tower out of Limsa in ARR right?

Is this boring simple combat compared to other mmos or compared to 11? Because I'd agree depending on other mmo, if it's compared to 11 then that's pretty laughable. Atleast this has you doing things during combat, I may not have played 11 but it's clear as day when watching the millions of videos out there that it's combat was a complete joke compared to anything that came out after it. You literally stand there 90% of the fight scrolling through spells or abilities, every now and then you get to hit a button and something happens, that's also for actual combat classes, support doesn't even get that much other than keeping up a buff or debuff.
White mage & Scholar not enough for you ?More healing job please.

I may not have played 11
i don't get the complaints about ffxiv's classes being boring
i guess that's bc i played based SCH
I'm facerolling my THM to 50 atm. I have to say, the WoW Mage class got a lot more involved, especially since the Cata revamp.
Right now it's just: Thunder -> Fire -> Fire -> * -> Transpose -> Blizzard -> Fire -> Fire -> *.
On the other hand, I really like the aesthetic of FFXIV so I'm more attached to my THM than I ever was to my WoW toons.
