Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

That's when I knew I had to resort to Japanese VA :P

I love my English localizations, but there's not much to love from what I heard so far lol.

Yeah, same. I usually deal with English localizations fine when they aren't too good sounding, but I need to go JP for this. The banter was just weird.

Game looks absolutely incredible.

That was the livestream of the PAX panel... (starts at 6:35)

Pretty long but a lot of great info and gameplay footage.

I was actually there lol. Running around both Square Enix and Access Games booth was p much why I was MIA and not trolling GAF threads as is customary.

Thanks!

Awesome...must have been an awesome experience.

Cannot wait for this game.

Noctis creepin' up on Cindy.

Anyone knows if the Demo will be a Disc or a code to apply on PSN to download it?

My CE will take at least 2 weeks to arrive at my home, and i'm so excited to play the demo >_<, so would be cool to know, so maybe I can buy the code while my CE arrives =/

famitsu and Dengeki spoiling the summon... :(

PSN code to download

Lol @ IGNUK using the "shot themselves in the foot" line.

Super excited to grab this next week. And type-0, of course.

That poor, poor chocobo..

I might be completely off, but if I'm reading it right, it looks like *Maybe spoilers, I dunno. Probably shouldn't click unless you really want to*
Ramuh?

Spoil it for me friend :3

Demo spoiler regarding summon
The old man who wields lightning :) The people who spotted the sleeves in that screenshot was right.

Y'ALL ARE RUINING SE'S MARKETING PLAN.

Famitsu is the one who spoilt it! It's just giving us the scoop that we've all been waiting for, for the past few years. HERE'S A SPOILER SCOOP FOR Y'ALL!

Let's not be too hasty. Originally they were going ffviii over world style...honestly don't want to see an ff with sectioned off areas like X or XIII.

With you 100%. The "corridor tube" design of X and XIII has been the worst thing in the entire series.

It's not so much scoop as it's... SE specifically told press not to mention it LOL.

Hence the EXCLUSIVE SCOOP part :P Famitsu actually telling us things that they aren't supposed to. My impressions of them is that they tend to come off as being quite clinical and never have questions and answers that sound like they've gone through the game dev's PR machine.

That was the scoop? That was the reveal?

Fuck that, I was expecting Lightning as a summon.

Hope she comes as a DLC summon or something :/

Don't jinx it!

Although (summon spoiler)
Ramuh throwing Lightning around sounds awesome

Wired preview compares it to Dark Souls

Overall, it feels closer to Dark Souls than anything. You'll have to learn attack patterns, keep your guard up and retaliate when an opening presents itself. Another similarity -- and a huge departure for the series -- is that experience points are earned after defeating each individual opponent, but it's not until you reach a campsite to rest that they're applied to the team, levelling them up and unlocking their potential. Like Dark Souls, it becomes a risk versus reward proposition, with more powerful enemies coming out at night.

Taken as a whole, Episode Duscae is a very promising example of what Final Fantasy XV will offer. It displays a raw ambition the series has been lacking in recent years -- the sheer size of the Behemoth and the staggering battle against it alone is evidence of that. Admittedly, with the final version of the game still undated for release, much could change, and in the case of the lacklustre camera in battles, we hope it does. Any modifications aren't likely to be wholesale revisions at this point though, and based on what's explored here, the game is likely to be the shot in the arm Final Fantasy has needed.

Final Fantasy XV is the Citizen Kane of the Dark Souls of jRPGs.

Well, regardless of how it compares to Dark Souls, it's not like I'm expecting this to be the best Final Fantasy since the 90's.

I do think it'll be the best since the 00's.

I really think they should tone down enemy's HP. They currently take a little too many hits to die, especially the robot soldiers, which shouldn't be the case for regular mobs. In exchange, raise their damage output and perhaps more intelligent combat A.I.

Oh man, just watched that Famitsu video.

The best one so far imo. The Behemoth fight was pretty good and the dungeon part seemed really fun.

Ugh. I'm torn. I want to watch it but we're so close I don't want to spoil the contents of the dungeon or the actual behemoth fight.

I would usually say "nah, go ahead".

But they spoil the gameplay super hard on that video.

The Behemoth parry will be quite something though. I'll say that for free.

It's looking great to me but there's one distinct problem to me. NPCs keep on walking into the main character, even when he's standing still. By NPCs, in this case, it's your group of friends. It really breaks immersion, when you're standing still, why can't they? It's the same in DA: I too. It really annoys me for some reason. Please stay still.

Oh damn. Gonna have to get good at parrying, I'm terrible at it in Demon's Souls/Dark Souls.

The window here seems pretty generous. Parries in this game seem to be more about a way to stop you from just holding Guard forever and actually pay attention.

The Souls series nailed the concept of Parry/Riposte though, it's so good.
