DOOM: The Dark Ages Path Tracing Update Coming June 18th

Just offering an opinion of certian titles you have lined up to play.

My apologies if you find that offensive.
If you're actually trying to help, maybe don't lead with dismissiveness. There's a way to share opinions without coming off disrespectful.

If your goal really was to help, then leading with "half your backlog is garbage" probably wasn't the best way to go about it.

Sorry long day.

Its is though. Doom is much better. :)

Again, your opinion. Neither right nor wrong.

The only objective truth in that statement are the graphics are better in Doom.

Besides, I also have
System Shock Remake, Thief, Tekken, Guardians of the Galaxy, Halo MCC, Furi, Firewatch etc to play.

Point is - i have a lot to play.

Not worth the performance hit, at all.
Depends on what card you have. If your struggling for frames then yeah I'd agree. But if you have one of the newer cards why wouldn't you turn it on?

It looked pretty good before, it is a noticeable difference for the first couple of levels replayed earlier.

I assume you would need frame gen to get a stable framerate? The added input lag and artifacting = pass for me.

because its only playable with FG, and FG is artifacts and ghostings galore as usual.
Incorrect on both points.

With a 5090/4090 you will get above 60 without. but at that kind of base Input lag is not noticeable at x2 nor can you see any artifacting (in my experience)

nah it is there, you dont even know where to look and try to lecture people on path tracing,
point your gun towards the ground run around and watch it ghost all around.
You said it was only playable with framegen on, thats incorrect.

You then claimed with framegen on its artifacts and ghosting galore. Again thats simply not true.

Quit with the bullshit.

It's actually similar. RT Overdrive at 4K native in Cyberpunk nets you 30-35fps on a 5090. Same performance in DOOM The Dark Ages at the same resolution.
yeah i can confirm

default nightmare difficulty, 1440p dlss performance with dlss 4 ray reconstruction (quite heavy on older GPUs). reflex is also enabled of course (which reduces GPU performance a bit as well)

i was getting similar performance at 1440p dlss performance in cyberpunk 2077. performance is almost identical. however this one has more stable frametimes. then again dogtown is more dense and detailed so there's that

(obviously recording takes around 10% performance)

it was a fun experiment but yeah, for most it will be unplayable. i will probably do a replay at 1080p dlss quality when and if they add DLCs (gets 36+ fps consistently). it looks fine on my 1080p screen but not on 1440p/4K screens so there's that. you can also imagine if i had a GPU with a multi frame generation I'd probably enjoy using it even at 40 FPS lol

as a final bonus, more challenging last chapter with similar low framerates

That's factually incorrect. I was getting over 70 fps with my 5070ti @ 1440p with DLSS at balanced and everything cranked all the way up. Any card better than a 4070 can play with path tracing without framegen @ >6t0fps with the right settings.

Also, FG doesn't produce any visible artifacts with a high enough base frame rate.

I just read the Gamegpu benchmark, and damn! This is easily the most demanding PT game right now. To get 80 fps on the RTX 4080, I would need to run 1440p with DLSS Q and FGx2 on top of that. For comparison, Cyberpunk with similar settings runs at 120 fps. I might experiment with PT just to see how significant the difference is, but I will most likely turn it off.

Game has some inflated results for Blackwell (like HL2 remix) - clearly Nvidia sponsored. 5070 better than 4070ti super?

Looks like a waste of time and performance given how it looks compared to vanilla RT...

You think Microsoft told id to move their engine forward the way they had planned to do so after the development of Doom Eternal while they were NOT owned by Microsoft?

Is it weekend GAF already?

Reading is hard. Where did I say Microsoft had anything to do with their tech? That was a jab at the fact that the game sold poorly, and its priced at 80 euros while being an inferior short product. I guess you do live in the weekend, but most of your replies are abysmal so can't really expect much.

1440p dlss balanced is like 800p base res already, i didnt buy a 5070ti to play at that.
4070 upwards playing PT at 60fps without framegen sounds like factual BS, lets see some receipts for that.

define high enough base frame rate, FG from 50 clearly produces ghosting, just focus on the dot in the middle of the screen and see it multiply with movement.
any higher than and i'd turn that shit right off anyways.
