The more I play, the more I realize that prompto is the strongest English casted person besides Regis.

Cindy is terrible, ignis is terrible

Gladio and noctis are ok. To be honest English noctis sounds more like looks like than the Japanese dub.

It's interesting that there is no clear cut winner for which dub version to play

Plumpto is slowly winning over
Must resist

That's what I was thinking. The only times I'd actually want a direct spin-off Final Fantasy game would be this idea, and the Auron, Jecht, Braska FFX prequel.

I wonder if they would do it when Regis' party was Cid, Weskham, and Clarus, or when Cor replaced Weskham.

Ew gross
No more Broad trip game plz
But yes to more Cor

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Stop bringing up a Gamestop exclusive!!!!!!

It's not exclusive to Gamespot if you purchased the Asian Deluxe Edition. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Don't forget Ardyn - one of the best voices in the game.

Asked before but I think it got lost. What can Cause Noctis' health to drop from full to 0 immediately after performing a warp strike? It happens to me all the time making combat a lot more difficult than it needs to be.
There's only three possibilities.
1. A super strong enemy hit you
2. You were using a royal arm. The more enemies you hit, the more your HP is drained and some royal arms eat more HP than the others.
3. A combination of 1 and 2.

Well...

Didn't even know I was getting a copy when I pre-ordered from GAME but they sent me a download code. Tell you what, it may not amazing but it was actually fun enough to keep me entertained while waiting for the mail to arrive on release day. People won't be missing much though.

I really dislike the camera in this game during closed-quarters combat. It's garbage. The caves and dungeons are a shit show.

That said, I just finished Chapter
5
and I think the game is pretty damn fun. I look forward to what they can do when they have the same team working on the game for more than 1 year haha.

Discussed for what? Its above average combat? The open world was decent, the dungeons were great, but it's got nothing on games like Witcher 3.

It definitely left a lot to be desired. At least FFXIII had a somewhat cohesive storyline, and it took longer to complete even though I spent probably 30 hours doing side content in XV.

Ha.

TW3 was my GOTY.

XV is better. :3

That's never happened to me. I also have little to no issue with the camera in games like the Souls series and Monster Hunter, so maybe I'm just weird.

Never had a problem with the camera in the Souls series either, but this one's been giving me issues. Nothing that lasts longer than a couple of seconds but I can't say that the camera's been free of issues.

You must be exceptionally lucky, everyone's been experiencing issues with the camera, myself included.

I mean... I answered the second question in the beginning of the post...

As to the objective points, there are certain design and execution things in terms of gameplay that can be considered objective. Same with transitions and narrative progression and handling of plot ideas.

I think you're wrong. You see, the combat in this game is close to exceptional. Fix the camera and add gambits for the AI and we'd have the best battle system in the series.

As it stands, it s simply great.

And I reply the same way to your "objective" assessment of other aspects, because none of this is.

I enjoy holding the X button and occasionally spamming parry and magic and limits.

If that's all you were doing then you weren't doing it well.

It's a great battle system. :3

I wanted to wait for the 60fps patch, but I just cannot wait. I would like to start the game but I don't want to advance far at all until the patch. Can I do some sort of exploration/farming/practicing the combat mechanics very early in the game? Like something to pass the time in the universe for a few days. Thanks!

I just completed 28 hours into the game, and I'm on Chapter 3.

If you enjoy exploring and the game's combat, you'll have plenty to do while waiting for that patch.

And in Final Fantasy in general. Dude's fucking awesome.

I've been thinking about him a lot recently and I think he may be one of my favorite characters in anything for quite some time.

Ending spoilers ahead.

A lot of his story is not exactly in your face. In fact I had to think a bit about what he was actually up to but I've come to wonder if he was even truly evil. He wanted some level of revenge clearly, but I'd argue his sacrifice was bigger than any others and despite the fact he technically wins the world seems to be in a better position for it.

He even seems like he's expected it to go this way all along. Not once does he seem even remotely angry that you ruined his plan and I think it's because you play into it completely. Essentially killing him only sets up the final step in completing his plan and as you said earlier I don't think he intended to live either. He stated his immortality to be a curse so clearly that's his opinion of it. Other villains could have easily seen that as a gift.

I like to think that Ardyn wanted some form of revenge and decided to show the world what it's like to be engulfed in demons just as he is, but that his end goal came from a different part of him that's still in there somewhere.

I really wish they fleshed this aspect out more rather than leave us to fill in the blanks.

Seriously, though, 150 pictures is just not enough.

I guess I can screenshot the ones I need to delete. 130 pictures already.

Been so busy doing all the side quest and battling everything I come across in chapter 3. I'm guessing I'll be over leveled but oh well.

19hrs and still in chapter 3. Wonder how many levels I'm going to gain after double exp.

Oh my fucking God.

Beginning of Chapter 8 spoilers:
Noctis! You have got to be fucking shitting me! You mean to honestly tell me you can't fucking tell who that Hunter is?! With that gruff-ass voice?!

Edit:
Okay, Noctis is now running with this joke. But still, I am surprised his first response wasn't "wtf are you even doing here"

That shit had me cringing so hard. I had to put the game down afterwards.

Quick question, is there anyway to change R1 to be an actual lock on instead of a soft lock on? Having to always press R1 and R3 is getting really anoying to me :S.

Chapter 5 fucking sucked. Like really bad. When does it pick up again? I'm getting kinda bored.

6 and 7 have been my favorites so far, but I guess it depends on what you like. 6 is the most coherently roadtrippy of the chapters and has some great character moments w/ the guys and a guest. 7 has an awesome guest and probably my favorite dungeon so far.

Uhhh, they clearly recognized each other. They were joking around. Is it a little awkward? I guess. But the
"remind me of a king..." and "sparring partner"
lines are dead giveaways.

Whoever designed Castlemark Tower should be fired.

These dungeons have sucked lately. Which is a real bummer since some of the ones earlier have been fun.

I am confused as to how people didn't get that.

They made it as obvious as they could without outright
calling names

Still in Ch. 8, but about to pull the trigger on
the boat trip. Excited to see Altissia (and do Chadarnook quest I hope)

40 hours in so far.

Where are you at?

I'm on Chapter 8, too! I agree with you about 6 and 7, I was just curious how far you are. I have about 50 hours in the tank. Lots of driving. I will never tire of it.

A prequel with Regis and his friends would be interesting to actually flesh the world out more.

major spoiler :

a game with ardyn going around absorbing deamons and helping the world only to be denied what is rightly his would be fucking awesome. a kind of faustian bargain story where ifrit plays the satan role and gives ardyn the ability to absorb deamons...

This game is the new MGSV. I have major fun with it despite itself. But man can it try to get in the way. Here's hoping they can build on it. The first time I'd be all about a direct FF sequel.

i don't want a sequel. I want a director's cut with more mandatory cutscenes and more continents. the games story could have easily been 70 hours long.

Was that really
ifrits
doing?

Yes, love the driving! I've collected most of the soundtracks, have tricked out the Regalia, pop it into zoom out mode, and just cruise.

Can't make up my mind on favorite driving music. FF4, FF6, FF9 field themes are all great for this. Matoya's Cave has got a surprising amount of play.

Spira unplugged.

Hmm, just wish the Florence songs and the prelude from the World of Wonder trailer were unlockable.

Did another one of these post-game dungeons to confirm my suspicions and yeah these kinda suck. They look bad and while I like the monsters from a design perspective I'm already tired of fighting these monster types.

Guess I'm done with the game, everything else I have left to do is just too tedious for me to bother and I don't care about trophies. Maybe if later patches make some QoL improvements I'll come back.

This isn't my favorite Final Fantasy in really any category and it's far from the best RPG I've played this year, but I don't regret buying it. I personally think the flaws it does have (in world content, traversal, combat, and storytelling) are really noticeable and really detrimental to the overall experience, but it's an ok game otherwise.

Find Your Way and The Castle are my go-to dungeon songs.

FFVIII the GOAT.

Depends on the dungeon for me. For the underwater dungeon with
Aranea
, I played Via Purifico, but for Malmalam Thicket, I went with the Dissidia version of VII's Forest Temple.

Really neat how there's a song that fits every dungeon.
