Done with the story. Man, that's a good credits scene.

I'd love to play the version of this game where the team had another year or so to work on everything once they knew what they had but I still really enjoyed it, warts and all. The framework and world building is strong and I like how it takes risks with structure, I just wanted more of it with better framing and context. Already got my wish list for a hypothetical FFXV Golden in my head.

I think/hope the DLC will deliver on what you want. Focused episodes that are all about one of the best parts of the game: the bros.

There's no royal arms in there. Your main reason for going there is because Cindy gives you a Regalia-related quest that leads you there to find a supercharger. The upgrade gives you headlights that ward off daemons at nighttime. And there is two bosses there by the way, in case you didn't know. You can meet the second one by switching on all four generators.
I don't think so. I only found
the door.
I see. Thanks guys.

And yeah I have done that
Cindy quest. The lights should've been available from the beginning imo. They made traveling at night a lot less frustrating.

Also, about what you said LotusHD
I'm guessing that the second boss would be the dragon (before the huge locked door) while the first one being that snake/gorgon like creature? I did switch all the generators for sure and did get a dialogue from one of the characters saying that something must've opened. I'm just not sure if that was the door leading to Dragon or some other route that I missed.

You are correct, it does lead you to that boss.

I'm on that path. 20 hours in and very early on Chapter 3 currently. Just doing sidequests mostly, but its a mistake. This world is lifeless, dull, and lacking any real sense of discovery for anything I do. Yet, I am compelled to press on...

FFXIII tugged at me the same way despite my better sense telling me to play something better.

I've just logged over 50 hours and I haven't reached Altissia yet.

Speaking which, is there a royal arm in that location? I cleared it out and beat the boss but for the life of me I couldn't find a royal arm. All I found was some
huge locked door
which I've found in other dungeons as well and I'm guessing has something to do with post game contents.

Yeah, I really enjoy the actual gameplay and interactions between the main party members. I was Lvl 61 when I finished chapter 8 and still had a lot of dungeons and hunts to go through.
I really liked the game but the side quests were pure garbage. I also didnt want to be overleveled for the final chapters or have dragon age flashbacks.
Finished the story at level 40 and am cleaning up the few dungeons and hunts i missed as endgame fun. It's working really well. 40 was a good lvl to finish on and 40-50 is perfect for most of the Tombs.
Finished the story at around 35 hrs

Asked before but I think it got lost. What can Cause Noctis' health to drop from full to 0 immediately after performing a warp strike? It happens to me all the time making combat a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

I've encountered something similar where I hang from a warp point until I drop, and then take fall damage down to 1 hp. This was on the hunt on the first beach area way off to the end of the beach where the warp point is on a cliff. Only happened there, so I figured it was a bug. Is this happening to you all the time?

lol I'm 51 in chapter 8

I just started chapter 13 and then took a break. .....It really isn't as bad as people are making it out to be!
I guess it sucks you don't have your weapons but hey, the ring is awesome.
The story right now feels super rushed though... man I hope I can enjoy it because I am right now but something is missing.

seeing Luna in flashbacks is making me so disappointed

So, does the game naturally push you to explore optional dungeons with sidequests and hunts, or do you have to go out of your way to find them? Because despite doing a lot of the optional stuff, I'm not really exploring anything off the beaten path. I feel like they should just let you run at full speed indefinitely, not sure what that stamina bar even accomplishes besides slowing down exploration. Probably my only major gripe so far and the reason I don't feel like fully exploring the world (well that and not wanting to be overleveled for the main story)

A lot of the dungeons are higher level but a good amount of the different quests will eventually lead you to different dungeons. Some to collect things, others for hunts, etc. It just takes awhile because most are level 20+-ish.

I mean it starts ok but
it just keeps going and going. The damn ring that they were going on about, you finally put it on and... you can cast a couple extra spells? Kingsglaive made it seem like you'd turn into Superman if you used it

Oh man. Costelmark has a ton of monsters, but I'm overleveled, so nothing I couldn't really handle. However, my camera suddenly got bugged and basically made me feel like I'm playing in 2D. That threw me off, then I
accidentally got warped out and I guess I gotta start all over again.

If I was out of my depth, I'd be pretty mad, but it's whatever. Time to try again.

Wow the entry into Altissia was stunning. Just under 35 hours for me.

Well the plot just goes off the rails in Chapter 6 in terms of pacing.

I thought the old guy Jared who was with the kid at the hotel got kidnapped until a loading screen said he got killed. Oh yeah, let's just leave Iris in the car while we randomly attack a fort with no buildup because a big ship landed there. Then Ms. Highwind pops up like a No More Heroes villain for a cool fight with no buildup.

Optional dungeon popped after I continued on like it was a major sidequest (although it's because I'm overleveled at this point). Iris is pretty fun fighting with the party though.

I did get the Prompto scene that folks mentioned before at the motel and that was pretty good. Wish the game was more consistent.

On a positive note, I am enjoying the battle system more with some other stuff unlocked. I like the Shield weapons quite a bit.

You can sprint indefinitely by releasing the button when it's in the "st" portion of the bar but chocobos and upgraded car is usually better

What's a good level for costelmark? My last tomb secret doors notwithstanding .

Holy shit chapter 3

So much side content

How the fuck am I gonna finish this game lmao
This is where I'm at. I'm a big fan of the game so far; from where I'm at, I don't understand the hate. It is definitely one of the best games I've played in the last few years, and certainly the best JRPG I've played since Lost Odyssey. I hope it keeps the fun up.

I agree that side quest are a bit too fetchy but they can be fun if you do a lot of them together and then go back to report to each quest giver. Also the more you do quests for the same person, the more they send you to locations of importance that you might've missed otherwise, which is a good motivation for sticking with side messions. Though, I definitely would've liked it a lot more if the quests were more varied and less of the "fetch this thing for me" nature. Or at the very least had more interesting narratives behind them.

I've only played till chapter 13 but I gotta agree with your OP point as well. Level 60-63 seems to be way too powerful for story missions. I'm practically cutting through everything without any problems.

Mid-50s sounds good to me. I'm Lv63 myself. Just bring more elixirs and Phoenix downs just in case.

Just had ANOTHER crash. This time it was during a fight during a summon sequence.

Wtf I'm so done

Like I'm not about to do any dungeons or big fights if the game can crash and I'd have to do everything over

Fuck this piece of shit game lmao a delay and a day one patch and still this shit happens.

I made the mistake (I think?) of giving Prompto guns (not the bioblaster machine) that poison enemies and now half my team is constantly poisoned at any given time. How is that happening exactly, does the poison spread via proximity from mobs or what? The normal weapons don't have friendly fire? I'm having the hardest time finding explanations for some of these mechanics, and it's making me feel real dumb because I can only assume that it was either obvious to everyone else or they didn't encounter enough trouble with it to bother discussing.

After you go on your eighth food quests or find yet another dude who has a shit heap for a car.

Oh, or when you need to find some dog tags.

Or you might be like me and just do them to get crazy strong real early on.

I see, I think I'm going to leave most of them for post-game though because I really don't want to accidentally overlevel my way through the main campaign like usually happens in these kinds of games. Which reminds me, I really want them to add a Hard Mode as DLC someday.

Oh, that makes sense. I still have no access to Chocobos so that explains it.

Ignis - Regroup
Prompto - Gravisphere
Noctis - Blink, Impervious and Airdance
Gladio - not sure what's good for him

Don't forget Enchantment for Ignis too! As for Gladio, I like Cyclone. His three tech move is probably amazing, but gathering three tech bars doesn't seem worth it very often. Not without all the skills to maximize tech bar gain.

And Impervious is that good huh? I mean, I guess I'm not surprised, but how long does the invincibility last exactly? I have 700 AP, and I've been trying to figure out what to use it on now.

Game is so much fun. I love it to death. Only on Ch 5 but I am now taking another story break and doing sidequests and hunts. And I don't even fear the dropships anymore haha.

What are some must have abilities that I should go for asap?

As far as techniques go:

Prompto - Starshell, and Gravisphere (I still find Piercer to be really good at times)
Ignis - Regroup, and Enchantment
Gladiolus - Dawnbreaker

So Gravisphere is good huh? I tried Starshell but I decided to go for something damaging instead. Regroup is indeed great though. Got that shit immediately. Dawnbreaker has dealt 9,999 damage at one point so that's good.

Yea, Gravisphere gets them all in one big group, making it easy to wail on them, especially with magic. One thing that's important to remember is to be comfortable with switching out techniques when necessary. Sometimes I need Regroup, sometimes Enchantment would end the battle much quicker had I used that instead.

Just something about this game I love, and it is tough to put my finger on it. Only in chapter 3 but been doing every hunt and side quest. I am currently level 29. Had been struggling to find a game that hold my attention lately too. Good work here Square Enix
