Do you have the greatsword one yet?

Honestly, nearly all of the Royal Arms seem to be underwhelming as fuck. But presumably they make Armiger/Armiger Chain stronger, and a few of them give decent passive boosts, so I guess it could be worse. I'm still really salty about the
shuriken
getting nerfed.
What you mean it got nerfed!? That was my fav in the platinum demo

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda glad that the UCE digital contents are actually not in the base game at all. Maybe they'll sell them in the future but for now, I'll enjoy Noct's badass suit.

Late game dungeon spoilers

Costlemark Tower was soul sucking. Who thought it would be a good idea to have 3 Red Giants AND a Nagarani attack at the same time who you could fight again and again if you get the directions to the maze wrong. The actual dungeon boss was easier than that lol

Does this even really need a spoiler tag? Anyways yea, unfortunately you basically have no real air time with it, regardless of whether or not you have Airdance. So yea, there goes our dreams of flying all over the place, throwing shurikens with glee.

lol

I think you can probably finish the remaining chapters blindfolded.

My logic was, I was already overleveled at Lv63, so I may as well go all out. I inadvertently ended up accumulating 150k exp in my attempts to not further level up, so I figure it shouldn't go to waste. I probably could've reached max level had I known I'd make the last-minute decision to fight Adamantoise. Then I would've used my Expericast on that instead I guess.

Is there a max level in this game? I was under the impression that there are no level caps (as of yet). Also, how hard was the Adamantoise fight? You think it would be doable with a lvl64 party?

Chapter 10
I love the idea of a party member being injured because it feels really different, but having Iggy stumble around everywhere is making me feel like such an asshole. :( I wish he stayed on the train. Poor guy just slows us down and can't do anything in battle. And if I go too far Gladio gives me attitude. This chapter is depressing me!

Oh, I have no clue, but I just assumed Lv99 was the max level. And Adamantoise is not hard, his massive body leaves him incredibly open, and it just takes an insanely long time to kill him. I was Lv63 when I did it, took me nearly 3 hours. It was a spur of the moment thing, and I just didn't feel like doing it later. But yea, all you need to do is just bring a lot of Potions/Elixirs/Downs just in case, because there are times when you just get lazy and he manages to hurt or even kill you. If you stay focused, you can probably rely mainly on Ignis' Regroup skill, but hey, it never hurts to be prepared.

So yea, if you got time to kill, you can definitely do it now. But hell, even if you do it much later, it's not like you're going to make it some 30 min. thing. But of course, a shorter fight is not a bad thing at all, so up to you.

Just finished the campaign. Man, this could've been the greatest game ever. My main complaint is that it feels unfinished. It's like you can see that they wanted to add more areas, a city or two, way more character and story development. But they just couldn't. So sad. HD development is hard.

As it stands, my impression of Final Fantasy XV is it's a 25-hour version of one of the best fully realized 60-hour games of this gen that nobody will ever play.
Also, Yoko Shimomura is the greatest living composer.

Some really great moments in chapter 10-12! The chapters themselves are very short though.

Now on to the infamous chapter 13... Let's see if it's as bad as people here say.

Thanks.

Yeah, 3 hours seems too lengthy for a single boss fight. If I can cut it down to 1-1/5 hours by leveling up then it would be perfect. I'll guess I'll do it later on then.

If you're really intent on making it as short as possible, then your best bet is probably getting a Limit Break AP skill. No idea which one would be the most effective though.

Having the Royal Arms sap health is such a shitty design choice. Could have had all these unique weapons to add to your arsenal, but none of them are worth using because the danger they pose. :/

I'm super confused regarding levels... I'm level 20 and doing the mission where you have to look behind the waterfall for sword, and those lvl 18 crab enemies are one shotting me. I feel like I'm seriously missing something.

EDIT: Okay, beat them this time by focusing on getting the extra damage from blindsides/blindside links. I guess I'm just really underestimating how important positioning is in the game.

Well finished Chapter 13. Main complaint is that it went on way too long. Also I literally couldn't hear the cutscene at the end with
Ardyn
because I didn't have subs on. It was impossible to hear him.

So I want fighting the boss in ch 7 and my party was getting slaughtered. I was like, how do I damage this thing without being zapped to death by its AoE? Even faced with a little frustration I felt psyched to fight a boss that seems to pose a real challenge - not to mention it had a pretty cool entrance. After getting his HP down to about 80%, I was allowed to summon
Ramuh
and he OHKO'ed the boss for me. Talk about anti-climatic :(

Just watched the E3 2013 trailer for shits and giggles. Back when I first watched it, what little dialogue they had (was mostly one-liners) I felt was way too little and resulted in me being confused. I didn't really know what they were talking about.

Now, halfway through the actual game, I find the trailer way more informative with more character moments (other than the main bros, who barely appear at all) than you find in the actual game. Really puts into perspective how incredibly thin and fleeting any interactions and character development from secondary characters there is.

I'm about to take the ship to Altissia. I have 33k xp. Should I just keep playing through the chapter and stick with the xp I'll get from completing it or should I sleep in an expensive hotel and multiply my current xp? Which is the best one at this point in the game?

Are you in chapter 1?

Because if so, that 3x hotel is probably the best you'll find in the game, and don't worry about not being able to come back.

I'm having an ok time but man, I literally don't remember the last game I felt so not in control. Hopefully the combat clicks with me in time but so far it's not exactly great.

If you're still in Ch. 8 getting ready to board the ship, the chapter will conclude and forcibly make you use the exp you've gained so far. So you may as well get the 2x exp Hotel instead, and call it a day.

Just hit chapter 13. The past 4 or 5 chapters have felt like they recobbled all the unfinished leftovers from whatever Versus XIII was going to be. Seeing open-world sidequesting give way so suddenly to linear setpieces has been pretty jarring.

The thing is, if they'd been significantly more fleshed out and polished, I think I'd prefer these chapters. I guess in my heart of hearts I just don't like open-world games very much.

i'm here just to say that i'm very disappointed by the story. It changes direction 3 or 4 times and it's too much depressing. It seems that tabata wanted to hit us in the heart just to save a troubled story.

7.5 for me

Aww just went on a tour with Prompto.....

.....where he almost got Noct killed by posing in front of a hungry, approaching giant turtle thing all so he could get a pic, delighting in every second of it.

Cute little side quest. It's the interaction between these guys that makes it impossible for me not to love this game.

Really loved Chapters 8-12. That's the type of story I play Final Fantasy games for, even if some of it felt rushed and chopped.

Bout to start the dreaded Ch. 13. Let's see how this goes.

I'm only at the chocobo farm, but is there anywhere up until this point that I can get better fishing gear? Or is Galdin Quay my best bet?

Wow, Castlemark is as close to unplayable as I've ever seen in a Final Fantasy game. Just a perfect storm of bad ideas.

Did you beat it yet?

There's one spot in particular that is so incredibly stupid it's almost impressive.

I really like the game but what is slowly killing my enthusiasm is the fucking long loading time when you fast travel and the fact that you need to go back to your car in order to do it.

God I love being trapped in rooms the size of storage crates with a shit ton of bombs and a wonky camera. Whoever made that place needs firing.

Soooo what is there to do in post game besides achieving the platinum? I'm just left dead by the mess of a story but the ending was great. There has to be meaningful content to do, right? Perhaps I'll go check out that level 46 base near Lestallum....

The former Kings all attacking Ardyn is basically Knights of the Round isn't it.
Battle systems in FF games have always been simple. This one isn't particularly different, but I do appreciate that it lets us interact with it more than "press on the obvious move for turn."
Warp, mash circle, warp point, warp, mash circle repeat and throw in a healing item every now and then.

That was all I had to do for literally every battle in the game. You say all FF games have simple battle systems but other games have strategy from the number of characters and spells you control and the various powers of the enemies. There is no strategy needed in this game and you barely even have to care about what the other three characters do, just occasionally call Ignis' regroup and never think about them other than that. It's very repetitive and I think it was a mistake to rely on item healing so much and not have one of the characters be a healer.

It's definitely more involved than you're making it seem if you want to be efficient and/or stylish. The game just does a terrible job showing you how to play that way.

I keep navigating through different branches of the slowly moving cube maze only to be dropped back into the same nightmare room filled with respawning giants, only the enemy count seems to increase each time? Cool idea. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong (evidently choosing the wrong cubes) and every time a horde of bombs shows up I wave goodbye to a half dozen Phoenix Downs and another ounce of my sanity.

Just because you choose not to use all the combat tools available at your disposal doesn't mean they don't exist. Combat is as deep or shallow as you want it to be. You have magic, character abilities, multiple weapons, enemy weaknesses in addition to warping. If you just want to button mash that's fine but don't try and fault the game for you choosing to play that way.
