I'm on chapter 13... yeah...

I was near the finish line of chapter 13............ I think. I then decided to go back and collect all the remaining royal arms first.

Minor spoiler on chapter 13:
The chapter is so tedious. Just when you thought you are at the end, oh, there is another level, please find the generator, keycard, etc etc.
Regarding the combat. I actually think it's fine. It's supposed to show how powerless you are without your bros. The combat also gets better after you get king regis' sword.

Speaking of which [Ending Spoilers]
man, Ardyn and I were just warping all over the place in the first phase of that fight, hahaha. And then the game went all flying kings of Lucis on us and we took that warping battle to a whole new level lol

If I'm being honest I liked the Ifrit fight much better than Ardyn. The music, environment, summons... they were all just on a completely different league.
I agree with you about the Ifrit fight being much more enjoyable. Even though I am not particularly fond of the implementation of Bahamut (or the lack of megaflare) I liked that multiple astrals actually intervened to help with that fight. The Ardyn fight was pretty plain to me, aside from the backgrounds flying by as Noctis and Ardyn used their armigers. After watching Kingsglaive all I wanted was a final fight on a similar scale with Nyx vs Glauca while the Knights fought the empire and the Ifrit fight definitely was closer to that (yet still far off).

Forgive me if I'm dumb, but I cannot seem to figure this out.

When I am resting at a caravan or Inn, it seems Gladio won't cook. Is this correct? Am I doing something wrong? Or does this option only apply at camp sites.

Two quick questions, thanks in advance!

1. I've bitten the exp hoarding bug and sitting at lvl.20 with 20k exp points in Chap 3, i want to take it 28-30k before i go the hotel in Lestallum. How do i ensure that meeting
Iris
doesn't trigger Chapter 4 thereby levelling me up without 1.5x?

2. Only done the two dungeons as per the story, and wouldn't mind one or two before I rest at Lestallum, which ones are level appropriate? :p

So I beat the game yesterday and the boss theme for
Ifrit (Form 2)
is the best. I can't stop listening to it.

Also, are there any cool non ultra "This is a videogame!" Symbols in this game? Ngl
wouldn't mind getting a FFXV tattoo

The Royal Arm symbols are pretty cool.

Yeah he won't cook at those locations since there is usually a restaurant in those areas.

You have to sleep at an a campsite to get Ignis to cook, yeah.

Do you not have the money to rest at Galdin Quay? That is 2x exp where as Lastallum is only 1.5x as far as I remember.

I genuinely think Ardyn had the potential to be one, if not the best
final fantasy bad guy
.

Sadly, the plot/exposition fell short.

He's really up there, in my opinion. I consider him to be in the Hall of Fame alongside Kefka, Sephiroth and Kuja.

I beat around the bush a ton in Chapter 3, leveled up a lot (currently 38), and then decided to actually follow the main questline. Got a bit thru Chapter 5 a couple days ago, and now I can't stop lollygagging and doing sidequests again. This game is fascinating. Haven't spent this much in-game time on anything in a good long while. Years in fact.

worst part of this? we saw way more cg before release. i mean the re-reveal had loads that were clearly binned, likely due to all the redesigns.

There was a bunch of CGI shown for Altissia in both the E3 2013 and the TGS 2014 trailer, all without characters, dunno why they couldn't even include that stuff.

Disc space?

idk

Final Fantasy unfortunately has a history of underdeveloped main villains lol. This dude would still probably be in my top three in the series.

Ignis does the cooking, and he'll only do it at camp sites. So its either

1. Stay in hotel and get the exp multipler
2. Camp and get 'free' food and thereby stats boosters
3. Stay in hotel, get exp multiplier and eat at restaurant (albeit fucking expensive and not worth it)

You could also stay in the hotel, and camp the next day without accruing too much exp to Ignis cooking, but its a chore.

Yea, the game can really be a ton of fun. Enjoy the ride.

Not too much money no, :p I read around that the 0.5% multiplier for 5k gil isn't that much of a bump. But then again, if i manage to stretch the exp to 30k, it'll be like 45k exp versus 60k. I'll keep that in mind, thanks, but incase i decide to save the gil :p any way to avoid

I just went through it.

Do tell.

Oh well if you already went through it, you should presumably already know. But yea, just that there's two bosses in it, the second one being accessible after turning on all the generators, and that the main reason you go there is to find the supercharger Cindy is looking for, which lets you upgrade to headlights that ward off daemons. That's about it.

O god o god..I fucked up what is that!!?
Jormanagu
or something

Heh, you found it.

Oh and my Regalia has been totally beat up, windshield shattered, dented all around, almost the entire time. And no I'm not going to pay to have it fixed :)

You ain't shit. :(

I hate my life...
LMAO

I know that feeling :p

Yeah, unfortunately that Nyx fight was too good to have a replica in the game. I honestly don't know how they could've done that without the framerate dropping to hell.

Actually speaking of Nyx,
didn't Tabata say that he would be in the game in some capacity?
What happened to that?

He was one of the four bodies Ardyn had hanging from the ceiling in the throne room. :(

He's one of the corpses hanging in the throne room. IIRC the corpses are Iedolas(?), Regis, Luna and Nyx.

He's there, as a corpse hanging from the ceiling of the Throne Room, representing the people who died for Noctis. Ardyn used them to taunt and mock Noctis.

I used a ton of thunder magic for that guy. Worked out ok

Dumb question, but how exactly do I make higher tier magic? Just pumping more elemental energy when I make a spell?

Also, do you eventually get to keep your chocobos or am I stuck having to always rent them?

I mean it's worth noting the motels(such as the one south of Hammerhead) are 1.5x as well, so you can just go to those. :p

That said I don't think going to Lastallum triggers the end of the chapter if it's your first time going to the city as part of the story.

You pump more magic into it, or you use your items, ingredients, treasures, which can both boost its power and give it various effects, from poison to stop to even additional exp.

yea once you hit over 99 it will go to from thunder to thundera which is a bit stronger. Currently have not finished the game but i still rent mine. You can customize the ones you rent, but not sure if you can outright own them. Thankfully the rent fee is pretty cheap tho

Do you ever get an ability or whatever to break the damage cap? Because it's really easy to hit 9999 on magic and they're like rank 30 spells.

Or you know, use Ignis' regroup, like in, you know, using strategy.

I mean, you have to use two bars for that.

You shouldn't have to use a special ability just to tell your party members to move out of the way.

There should have been something besides that to tell you're team to pull back imo.

I haven't really looked at magic, but for other stuff there's things you can get on the Ascension grid which unlock the damage cap.

It seems like the higher-level magic spells break the damage limit. I ended up making a Thunder spell "Electon" that did 12000 in one shot.

Just blitzed my way from Chapter 8 up to Chapter 12, and a few thoughts.

1) Yeah, I am totally betting that the team ran out of time, money, and manpower at the point they got to Altissia. Jared's grandkid makes a big deal about how the party was taking the Regalia with them on the boat, but you can explore literally none of the region. Fuck, the car hasn't even shown up yet. It's a shame in this case because it's just so blatant.

2) I feel bad for Noctis and Luna, I really do. But I just can't bring myself to care about Luna's death when considering that they have never, ever had a face-to-face conversation that was not conveyed in flashbacks. They only vaguely communicated through carrier dog (which I guess there was a throw away line that Luna's white dog is... dead after the Chapter 9 stuff, somehow, for some reason). The woman has 10 minutes of screen time at best over the past 30 hours of gameplay, and the game wants to sell this death to me by having Noctis mope for several weeks. Again, I understand why he does it perfectly. I just wish the audience could have been fully brought in on this.

3) Not asking why the fuck Gladio went solo and got a scar is one thing. But I call absolute BS on nobody immediately asking why Ignis is fucking blind now. I'm sorry, "I just let my guard down" is NOT a good enough reason.

4) The train sequence was kind of cool. I guess what we saw as Ardyn was really supposed to be Prompto given the way he was talking. Still, kinda took me out of the moment where Prompto doesn't even question the fact that his best friend just tried to kill him and chased him down at least 4 train cars in a blood rage.

5) Oh, Ravus... kind of liked us? Fuck, I sure as hell wouldn't have figured that by his screen time so far, and definitely fucking not from Kingsglaive!

Yeah, I can see that the story is slowly starting to unravel at this point.

^^
Yeah I'm with you on practically all of those points. Especially the second one. It just falls flat with the player. It's really a shame that they had to rush this game out and didn't get to complete the vision that they had for it.

He was one of the four bodies Ardyn had hanging from the ceiling in the throne room. :(

I was wondering who the other guy was...

Poor Nyx :(

Is there an easy to acquire money post game? I've been using the same weapons since I got to Lestallum. Is it hunts only?

Go to a location with those Bulette enemies (they're in Duscae, they look like spiky armadillos). Break them with either long warp strikes or pause attacks. They drop spike armor things that sell for 1.2k and drop them whenever you break them (75%).

Probably the easiest and best way to make gil in the entire game, plus they drop quadcast items.
