Didn't think they could top
moms are tough
Did you?

You have to hand it to them. They somehow did.

At least with
moms are tough, it directly effected a team member. I still don't even know who Jared is other than an old guy lol

Just completed the first dungeon-within-a-dungeon, the first of the 8 behind the sealed doors. Was pretty disappointed with the layout, it's just one room you clear per floor -- and they block out the map so it's a little annoying to keep track of what's the side rooms and what's progression.

Are they all like this? Oh, and is this quest line how you get the 13th special weapon, or have I missed it elsewhere?

Square Enix are fucking stupid.

I tried my darnest to stay positve and really like game ,but I've come to realize the combat is just...terrible.

You had one team & one director that knew how to make far better arpg combat over a decade ago & this game was his concept for so long.

I have absolutely no doubt that the game would've played far better if Nomura & his team stayed on it.

KH2 has gameplay that's several orders better.Thats not even to speak of the execution of the story & cutscene directiob thats just amateurish....

I just wanna cry in a corner now...

KH2 is the example you go with?

Ill agree it controls better but i feel like combat lost more than it gained in KH2.

Just got the game and it feels so surreal to finally have it in my hands. Can't wait to start it (haven't played duscae or platinum demo).

Chapter 13 is too long, but I got a few ideas to make it better :

1. Cut the first part
from where you have to open doors with cards. Make an elevator to go directly to the laboratory from the starts, after at least 1 or 2 corridors of stealth.
2. The stealth :
Make it so that you see the enemy patrolling as a red dot on the mini map ALL the time. If you could see the enemy on the mini-map, you could learn his patrol pattern and find ways to bypass him, just like in MGS1.
3. The story :
Make the story of the origin of daemons and magiteck be told by audio books that plays while you progress, and make them evident to pick up, since they are essential to the story. If you can play music via an MP3 player, you can surely do that, no?
4. The gameplay :
I find the warp to another dimension power very OP, and was relying on using it more than death or holy. Make those last 2 equally powerful if you want the player to experiment. Also, make it so the player could find some weapons along the way and let him equip it as he progress. If Noctis can't invoke weapon, I'm sure he can still hold a sword in his hand without invoking it, you know, like sword fighting normally without any phasing powers.
Tldr: Make the character retrieve his power progressively.

Anyway, other than that, I found the chapter really interesting, but as I said, the major problem is that it's too long overall.

I've only done the first four, but so far they were all pretty much the same. Disappointing after the great dungeons they're hidden within.

Listening to the FFIX soundtrack while driving around the open world gives me some serious nostalgia chills. Its been so long since I've played that game. Having flashbacks to exploring Alexandria for the first time as Vivi.

I love that lil touch.

So uh... something really weird happened to me.

Ch.8 spoilers although I'm not sure it's story related, but it's related to a secondary character

I was happily running my Chocobo at night and suddenly a "cutscene" with Aranea dropping from a ship played. I was like wtf so I dismounted my Chocobo. I thougth she was going to fight me but then she left saying something about demons.

Like... wut?

EDIT: Ok, reloaded and I see what happened
she randomly pops to help you againts demons.
That's cool!

It's a shame you can't do it while on Chocobo - I hope they patch that.

Agreed though -FFIX soundtrack is boss

30 hours, did the Deadeye quest yesterday. Didn't want to use Fire because it's so cheap, I wanted to fight him fair, but they offered me AP :C

Can't say on to AP. Just a few more and I'll buy Impervious on Chapter 3, ain't that nice.

Also did the first Duscae Dino quest (not sure if there are others, but yeah). Some nice fishing spots, some preeeetty nice fishing spots. First time I went almost two days without camping, it was cute to see Prompto giving good morning and them complaining about not getting any sleep.

This game is magical. Stopped before getting the Chocobos because I was really relly tired, but today I'm finally getting them so Prompto can shut up. I thought it would be a shame if japanese Prompto didn't sing the Chocobo song, but with the amount of times he says he wants to ride that damn chocobo, I'm glad he doesn't. It must be infuriating to people playing in english, haha.

His hair totally looks like a chocobo, though.

I think I'll ride to get what Takka asked me, but I think that's Cleigne already, not sure if the game will let me go there. We'll see.

Can't forget to get the AP for Chocobo Riding and Racing nodes.

I miss Leide already, I want to go back there and talk to people, see if I can take any new hunts... :D

Lol at 13..

Camera angles on battles especially the bigger monsters is really bad. I don't think they thought things through on those fights..

My first encounter with that snake boss..
Cyclone gif

Is Cyclone good? I'm not too fond of either of the two first Gladio skills. Tempest has nice AoE, but it just takes forever to start if you don't get the Crit.

Prompto's first skill with a 99% crit rate is just too good. Almost got the photography one, but the accessory that lets him take more photos a day is enough.

Regroup is so good that I didn't test anything else. I might try the buff one, though.

The pinnacle of warp fighting. Or somewhere close to it.

you have near infinite mana......da fuq, how is it regenerating so fast. I'm 51 and it definitely does not fill that insanely fast. Accessory or something?

Osmostrike on the Ascension Grid lets you recover MP with aerial attacks. Seriously, unlock all of the aerial combat abilities as soon as you can. Makes combat so fun.

Maybe the bug I've heard people talk about.

Apparently if you get hurt, then hang from a warp point and trigger a technique, it sometimes results in the increase HP/MP from being on a warp point sticking with you, making you effectively have unlimited MP.

My problem with the combat is mainly the Parry system. I wish as soon the Block prompt shows up, you hit it and then Parry follows immeditately. But that doesn't happen and sometimes the Block window is much longer than the Parry. It doesn't flow as well as I like especially against mobs where you might get attacked a bunch. Could've been a much smoother experience.

What skills/techniques have i-frames? Warp and any time you do a little backflip (left stick back + attack with some weapons)?

Also having some trouble consistently activating Impervious. What's the window for that?

I experienced something similar but I think mine glitched as
her ship was just "there" stuck in the sky. This was after I was fighting two of those huge red iron giants.

Assuming she was meant to drop down and help me with that tough fight.

She never did though.

Any idea how this is selling outside of Japan? I'm in the US. There were 2600 people streaming it on PS4 last week, more than Infinite Warfare. It's already at 13 on the Amazon yearly for 2016, although I dunno how much that matters.

it looks like hes warping more then landing the attack. Whos knows, this might be it.....but that would result in a jump in mp.....this looks to be just the bar regenerating.....insanely fast

Not played a FF game since 8 (I never did like that game) after loving the hell out of 7, but this game is calling to me for some reason, is it like 7 in the fact you get to find different items and weapons for your band of characters along with all the other good stuff 7 had?

I did love the TB battle system in 7, would I hate this? FWIW I don't mind Skyrim/Witcher hack and slash RPG's.

I mean..it's a completely different game, but yes you get new weapons and items. no Materia however, the materia system was GOAT and needs repeating.

I know it's a completely different game, but I was unsure how much of the fabric of the series (to me from 7) is present in 15 as I have not followed development of the game at all, my exposure to the series started with 7 and ended at 8.

Well there it is... I finally finished a game I've been waiting 10 years for and boy what a ride that was.

Stats
Hours Played: 66
Level by the end: 51 - 53

XV gets a solid 9/10 from me. The game definitely has it's flaws, but overall the positives far outweigh the negatives in my opinion.

It's sits firmly as one of the best games I've played this year alongside both Overwatch and Blood & Wine.

Now onward to post game! I want that platinum trophy.

Also, that ending man...

(MASSIVE ENDING SPOILERS)
Holy shit... That was so heavy. In the end they all gave their lives in order to save the world :(

And that camping scene...

As well as the scene with Noctis and Luna together...

It's going to take a while to process it all.
Dammit Coleman.

Game has a ton of issues, it's a big disappointment and i doubt will go over a 7/10 by the end.

But man, the beginning of Chapter
9
when you reach Altissia for the very fisr time was magical.
First the long boat ride, then the majestic entrance in the city with the music in the background, just incredible! Until now this was the most FF moment in the game, might be one of the best in the series too.

And it's particulary dear to me, because i've moved to live in the real Venice the same month it was unveiled back in 2013. And all the time i spent there i was just so excited to see how it would have turned up, while i walked through the streets whistling Valse di Fantastica. Then a few months ago inhad to leave the city, where i spent the best time in my life, and now being able to visit it in the game makes me all sort of emotional about what i've been through while there.
This is definitely the aspect of the whole Fantasy based on Reality that worked for me, because it was actually based on my reality.

I had goosebumps and got to the brink of crying.

No matter how the game turned out, this has been one of the most endearing moments in gaming in recent years for me.

Oh man! They changed the magic warp from 10 MP to 25 MP -.-

Does anyone know if the shield weapon is available anywhere in the starting areas of the game?

Today I should get up to 50k exp and then I'll use the x2 bonus to level up. And to continue the main quest a bit further, as I'm only at Chapter 4 anyway. I might also look for a tomb, I heard there's one around the volcano.

Putting the combat to wait, the camera to far and turning on the sprint bar and learning the sprint trick has made the game a bit more enjoyable for me!

Will definitely try out giving them some weaker weapons - feel like they were taking them out too quickly as opposed to the damage I was doing.

Strange, I was level 60 when I farmed the helixhorn and they gave me plenty of time to break the horn. With
Sword of the Wise
you get the warp-strike bonus hit and it should only take one or two direct warp hits (sometimes just the warp hit plus the bonus strike) to break the horn. Usually I just warp to one of the tall rocks in the area and just wait, since you're essentially invincible, until one of the Duplicorn's turns to face you and stops (use wait mode to make this easier). Then warp strike the horn dead center, get a second hit in midair, and then warp back to another rock. Unless you're killing the Duplicorn outright in a couple of hits, you should have more than enough time to break the horn before killing it.

Sprint trick?

RIght before your green sprint bar runs out release it and press it down again and your sprint bar goes full again. You can do this endlessly if your timing is good. If you screw up you have to wait for the bar to fully refill to start again.

Edit: Need to mention you need to use circle (if playing on PS4) and not press down R3 or it doesn't work

It does work on R3. I didn't even know about using circle until the other day. Knew about R3 since day one.

Or do you just mean don't be pressing both at the same time?

cackhyena

Maybe I just suck at trying it with R3 or my stick likes to get stuck and it'll just run the bar all the way down.
Well I do plan on using circle now that I know about it. I imagine it being easier. Guess I won't know for a while. I plan on waiting for the big patch before continuing.
