Well some do at least, seems the only ones that really pay early on are the stupid picture quests the guy keeps giving you. It's just a really awkward way to penalize you with money in this game for seemingly no reason. Unless they're doing pay to play gil packs on PSN or something. Just seems weird how much it seems to fight you wanting to progress through the main story. It doesn't explicitly tell you to but it essentially forces you to do a bunch of boring side quests to level up get money since nothing else seems to give you money.
Hey there. So are Debased and Rare Coins finite in this game? I want to boost myself up a couple of levels and I was wondering if there's an optimal time to do it in the game.

I have to say, now that I have a Pro, the game looks much much better in Pro mode than it does on the OG PS4. The game doesn't exactly have the best AA algorithm ever and running it at a higher resolution helps to smooth things out a lot.
I'm looking forward to seeing if the next patch on the 21st smooths out the framepacing a bit but otherwise the game just looks great on the Pro.
I'm curious about this as well. I have the Xbox One version, is that still being updated and kept up? I stopped playing around this chapter too, and I'm wonder if I should just hold off as well. Have we heard any news at all about this future story update?
Camping takes too long to finish and I just want to go to the next quest as quick as possible. Fast travel, return to car and return to town goes to a dragging slow loading screen.
The last update is quite buggy in the Ascension screen were it doesn't load the lines, Fast travel to Lestallum goes to a black screen for 10+ seconds before loading the town, and unmounting from a Chocobo then fighting sometimes makes me screen focus back on the Chocobo and you can't do shit.
I'm hoping the update this month addresses some of the bugs.
Also, is level 32 in chapter 3 too OP for the story quests?

Rock of Ravatogh is probably my favorite side mission so far. Awesome location, fun banter and the view from the top is absolutely gorgeous. Really felt like I was on a hike.
The wide open space at the top felt like another missed opportunity. I was expecting some crazy boss fight but it was completely empty. Does something appear later on?

Yeah loved it too. The game is at it's best when it's just bros adventuring and giving eachother shit. Square could honestly just release an XV-2 with a bunch of random dungeons and missions in the Nifilheim map and I'd be a happy camper.
That big empty space was bizzare though. Maybe you fight the
giant bird
there on a later hunt or mission? There was a nest with eggs there too...
Reached chapter 13 and calling it quits until the patch. If 13 is somehow worse than the earlier parts of this trash game, I'll wait until the patch somehow improves.
I fully regret paying full price for this. It's an incomplete, uneven and boring mess.
edit: I realize the patch is going to add in story elements, maybe to earlier parts of the game. I should have just held off on purchasing and/or starting the game until then and heard feedback.

Just beat it. 50 hours in. Spent about 5 hours grinding before chapter 14 so I got a good chunk of side quests completed. I'm satisfied.
Second to last fight was absolutely incredible. The fights, the music, the quick time events, summons, everything. Holy shit that was a rush. The final boss was a huge disappointment in comparison.
Older Noct
looked awesome, well done with that design.
Overall, I liked this game but so many stupid things prevent me from truly loving it. I dont think the main baddy made a good villain at all and there are too many things glossed over and unexplained.
I grew to really like the bros and I wish it was more about us screwing around than this really dark story we got instead. Not a fan of the ending either.

Yup, I'm totally down for XV-2. Make the story less serious and doom and gloom and more about 4 guys just traveling, eating and hunting shit and I'm all in.
I'm almost 20 hours in and I still don't know what "A FINAL FANTASY for Fans and First-Timers" is supposed to mean. Aren't all games for fans and first-timers? Except maybe Mighty No.9?
Also why does Cup Noodles cost 220 gil? Are they pretending that Cup Noodles isn't super cheap food in real life or something?

When the Summon and Noctis exchange glances and Noctis acknowledges and the choir music is blasting... Crazy, CRAZY good stuff. The best FF15 can offer. And then it gets even better!!!
If you are done with the game then you can do Pitioss Ruins dungeon. It will blow your brains out.

It probably means if you're not either a fan or a first timer, you won't like it.
I'm in deep AP grinding mode now. I can get about 850 in half an hour, which is not too shabby. Had a couple of beers, though, and it dropped to 600, despite not actually feeling buzzed. That's why drinking and driving is bad no matter what.

Yup. The whole scene was shot so epically. And that exchange had me screaming haha. I loved it. Everything about that fight was spectacular. Gave me some serious God of War vibes.
I heard about how devious Pitioss is and I think I'll pass. I've been watching a video on some Pitioss theories and its really exciting to think about.
This is something fundamental about the game I don't get, having made it to Chapter 4. Spoilers are minor but I'll keep it tagged for the 1 person here who hasn't watched Kingsglaive.
Ardyn is the Chancellor of Niflheim and everyone obviously knows who he is in Kingsglaive. So why the hell doesn't Noctis or anyone else in his group know who he is? It seem pretty impossible to imagine that the Crown Prince of Lucis doesn't know who the key figures who lead their enemies are.
I wonder if we will see the stuff from the Dawn trailer in the DLC. They looked like in game cutscenes and they didnt show up on the final product.
The Omen trailer was pretty awesome. Never saw these trailers due to fear of spoilers so its nice checking them out now. And man the announcement trailer for XV looks like a completely different game.

I was confused by the 'Fans and First-Timers' thing too... it made sense to me after beating it in the sense that it's a 'new' experience (the game is completely different than any FF so far), but that there are TONS of small references and nods throughout the story that long time players would notice and appreciate.
For example, similarities Ardyn shares with both Kefka and Sephiroth (and relevant quotes like Noct referring to him as "jester"), Knights of the Round-esque summon in the final conflict between Noct/Ardyn, etc. I know there are tons more, these are just a few that stood out to me.

Haha same, as soon as I heard the news of the patch dropping late March I'm just going to kind of hang out in Chp 3 and do Quests n stuff. Already up to like 30hrs+
What's the best hotel for exp? I've only ever stayed at the one in Lestallum. The one in Gauldin Quay has a nice bonus but is ridiculously expensive. Is there some kind of middle ground somewhere between a 300 gil hotel and a 10k one?

The Three Z's Hotel gives you the 1.5 multiplier, Gadlin Quay gives 2.0, and the Altissia hotel gives a 3.0 multiplier I believe. I don't think there are any other tiers except for the campers (1.2 multiplier).
So, apparently where you face the camera can affect the rate of respawns via Beast Whistle. Using the exact same spot but facing the camera a different way, I upped my AP gain to about 950 per half hour.

Which, in particular, are you looking for? The Hunter HQ has a decent Sword, Shield, Daggers, Polearm, and Gun (each costing 10k) for purchase. Ultima Blade and Drain Lance III wouldn't be too hard to get, either, and you can upgrade your Machinery with Cid, too.

Wow, just saw this little nugget nestled away in a Game Informer interview with Hajime Tabata:
Holy shit at that response. According to Tabata, the narrative mess that we ended up with was intentional. Which I find very hard to believe as they have a bunch of scenes that don't involve Noctis directly.
the leviathan, did anyone else find it a really boring battle? constantly smashing O button, the animation and setting was nice but my thumb hurts now ....
Well after spending some days away from this game, and reading up on the lore and stuff, I'm starting to miss this game. Its given me time to really appreciate the things that it did really well such as the world and creature designs, and that incredible soundtrack.
"Wanderlust" is so damn good but I never heard it past the first 25 seconds in the game.
Cid is taking his time with the weapon upgrades. Is it locked by story quests? I've done tons of side quest in chapter 3 and he's still sitting there at Hammerhead.

Man I can't seem to be able to fight multiple enemies at the same time, it is so frustrating, Noctis keeps changing targets and being mauled from every direction, I'm probably missing something with the target system, halp please.

Once you have the enemy you want and are targeting the body part you want while holding down R1 (I use type B control scheme), clicking down R3 will lock the target on that enemy/site until they die or you change focus/target to another spot.
Finally finished Chapter 1 and just started Chapter 2. Ive been following the strategy guide more or less and they make a pretty big emphasis on sidequests to level up, my question is does doing the sidequests contribute anything to the game besides leveling up i.e. are there unique items only available if you do certain sidequests etc?
Im not sure if Im expressing my question correctly... hopefully someone understands what I mean basically Im asking, are any of the sidequests worth it besides the typical leveling up grind?

FInished the game recently (haven't done the secret dungeon and some side stuff yet but played plenty). Really enjoyed it myself despite ups and downs. Story pacing is indeed messy but I enjoyed the actual characters, the theme/story itself and just the amount of detail some stuff got. Probably my first fav FF since the ps1 era (excluding mmos).
Chapter 13 is indeed a boring slog tho, won't lie on that. But I was okay with the other parts, even tho it did feel really rushed. I think tho that they're pretty close to a good formula if they can refine some stuff like the side quests being too samey and just a better pacing. But overall, great experience for me
