Final Fantasy XV |OT2| For Jared!

If the story doesn't take you there it's a after game dungeon unless you're really good or over leveled

Oohhh ok. I only wound up there because of a side quest to get ore for Cindy. The ore was right at the entrance so I didn't HAVE to go in but my curiosity got the better of me.

This is good to know, thanks!

Did y'all on Pro end up playing on the High mode or something else? I think I like High most despite the incompetent judder

Even I, who is not that sensitive to performance issues (though I can definitely recognize and appreciate good performance), found the High mode unplayable. Have no 4k TV anyway and just played on Light mode all the time, which was really smooth.

Apparently some Versus XIII ending CGI shots were leaked here?

(Apparent Versus XIII spoilers... lol)

Passion fruit ffxv cover when?

So I haven't started yet, but what's the correct order I should do things in? Is it the following?

Platinum Demo
Brotherhood
King's Tale
Kingsglaive
Prologue Parting Ways
FFXV

King's Tale is Regis telling Noctis stories about his youth that may or may not be true. It doesn't affect anything either way.

Brotherhood and Kingsglaive occur at roughly the same time.

I don't recommend the Platinum Demo; it's really boring, and Carbuncle isn't a factor at all in the main game, and I haven't seen Parting Ways.

Don't forget VR fishing!

Bringing my kid brother a PS4 and a physical copy of this game as a present in a couple of months, but he lives with my parents who have a garbage Internet connection.

Does anyone know how much the combined update size for all patches is up to this point? I remember the day one patch being around 8-10gb for me but if it's like double of that or something by now I think he's not going to be able to play the game for a few days while it updates.

I would imagine it would be pretty large especially by next week. Though, I am not exactly sure how large the whole of the updates would be.

I'm still a bit salty we never got to see the red sky in-game. What would it even have been?
Maybe a pre-World of Ruin kind of thing?

I was thinking, how would they even incorporate the Prompto and Ignis episodes in the main game itself without spoiling the respective revelations? Give the option to play their episodes in retrospective after the twists? That would be strange too. So, maybe they'll keep them seperate and only selectable from the main menu.

I appreciate all the details you are able to find in the game. :)

Looking forward to your Episode Prompto GIFs :D

I am very much looking forward to that!

I think it would be easy, personally. Gladio's episode was framed around him talking about his experience and if the other two are like that then it would be easy-ish to place them in the game.

Like for Episode Gladiolus, they could place an objective on the quest before you leave for Altissia in Chapter 8 to go rest at camp and at that point have that episode intigrated into the game fully without having to back out of the menu.

Same with Episode Prompto where it would be placed right before you
go fight Ravus
, would be my guess on where it would perfectly fit. (Or maybe directly after
Noctis leaves Tenebrae.)

For Episode Ignis, I would place that at the beginning of Chapter 11 where Ignis is telling Noctis the story of what
happened in Altissia
.

At least, that's how I would do it. :)

I've had 2 issues with the game that are really pissing me off.

One, the fact that the driving is so on-rails. I just wish I had more freedom to take the car where I wanted to. Even manual is just the same as auto only I have to hold down R2 and check the map once in a while which isn't worth it. At least when you're on auto, the vistas get really nice to look at so that helps alleviate the issue.

Two, the fact that when you're driving at night and something pops up on the road, you stop your car and HAVE to fight it. You sometimes can't even just take your car, do a U-Turn and take another route. It's R-E-A-L-L-Y annoying when you combine the fact that you can get enemies that are light years ahead of your current level, or when for some reason enemies start respawning and you have to face ANOTHER giant + two arachnids.

Other than that, I am having a BLAST with this game. Abilities are so much fun, the game looks amazing, the characters are a hoot and that roadtrip feel is just so nice.

The free update in 6 days will add off-road driving, so maybe driving as a whole will feel less on-rails.

For like an hour than no. Except the one in the holiday+ pack it's op

The weapons are 50 cents so it's not that bad. I occasionally still use the Gae Bolg and Mage Mashers because I am a FF nerd and I love the weapons.

Although the in-game weapons are super cool, too, with the unique designs for each weapon.

Ragnarok is amazing also.

Anyways, get the weapons if you are interested in them. They're super cheap.

For the first one, that will be fixed in a few days, as they are adding a new thing so you can have much more control pf the Regalia. I cannot imagine it was easy to test but I am sure it's going to be fun.

As for the second one, if you continue doing Cindy's side-quests, not only will you learn more about her and her past, but you will also get sweet additions to the car that will be very nice. One of those things being "Holy Headlights" that prevents daemons from appearing in front of your car while you're driving. Super rewarding once you get them! :)

Okay, yeah, that would make sense.

What can I say? I'm really good and thought long and hard on it. :p

Whoa I need to get on this if that's the case.

Yeah, driving yourself or someone else driving you is just no fun. And there's a ton of it. You have to go back and forth to do missions and hunts so often and I wouldn't mind if the driving was entertaining. But it's not.
Its just such a big part of the game and it's absolutely dull. I'm curious what the percentage is of time spent either driving in the car or at a loading screen. I bet it's a lot.

Honestly the only time there is a lot of driving is when you're grinding hunts. Otherwise there really isn't that much. If they'd let you have more than one hunt at a time it'd fix a lot of it too.

Personally, I liked being able to move about the map without actually having to do it myself.

I hope you can just tell Ignis to drive off-road to get you really close to destinations, but I'm sure it'll be forced manual driving.

New details and photos from the latest ATR! (Apologies for low quality pictures. Will update if I can acquire better photos.)

- Tabby is back! We must protect his smile. Glad to see him still being himself.

DDBt2PnV0AEUUDH.jpg

- They showed off footage of the Xbox One X version of FFXV. Looks mighty impressive. Really smooth and lots of foliage.

- They made fun of Matt even more. Poor Matt.

- Reconfirm that Episode Prompto main story is 2 hours long. Much longer if you take on all the side stuff.

- They briefly touched upon some of the stuff at E3. Including King's Knight. They also very briefly touched upon FFXV: A New Empire.

- They introduced the development staff of each project, starting with Takizawa-san who is working on Monster of the Deep. You can enter the world of FFXV with PSVR and talk to the characters and fish with them. Available September. Tabata-san also revealed that Monster of the Deep isn't the only VR experience the team is currently working on. There is at least one other, and it'll be focused not on fishing, but on battle content.

DDBt1r-VwAAiV20.jpg

- Next up was Nakazawa-san, the director of the Update Team. From what it sounds like, they plan to update the game once a month, constantly improving the game. They showed off a video of the off-road driving and it looks, actually, really awesome and super fun. Attack depends on the speed. You speed up and hit a monster, easier to take it down. There's a jump button and you can make the car jump.

DDBturmUMAAKlp8.jpg

DDBturoV0AAb2Vp.jpg

- They talked about the Magitek suits and Cup Noodle hat. With the Cup Noodle outfit, the regen of HP speeds up. It's ridiculous but was absolutely hilarious to see. Magitek suits are still being worked on. (That's what I was able to gauge what was said.)

DDBturfUwAIyE_Q.jpg

- Episode Prompto sub-director is Tohya-san. Shida-san is the main director of Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto. While Shida-san was working on Epiosde Gladiolus, Tohya-san started working on Episode Prompto.

DDBt1jMVYAAa1_S.jpg

DDBtureU0AAAa4x.jpg

- Handgun has unlimited ammo and automatically locks on, but isn't as powerful as the other weapons. There's a time attack for snowmobile run and Watanabe-san is the fastest man on the earth. At least until June 27th. That crystal-like thing gives the player a burst of speed, so gather it and go full throttle! Beat Watanabe-san's time: 1:07.48. Showed live gameplay. It seriously looks like a ton of fun. Bunch of secret routes. Enemies get in the way and you can shoot them. Video of the live demo is at the link at the very top of this post.

- Congratulations to Mitsu-san!! She's having a baby. She will be taking some time off and Ofuji-san might take over community tasks until she gets back.

- Next up: user questionnaire. More than 15,000 answers on the web, more than 422,000 in-game and counting. The result of the questionnaire will be reported eventually. They're mulling over how they should release the result. The in-game questionnaire is ongoing until the end of June.

DDBt1mfVoAIKt-I.jpg

- Official comic will be released on July 27. Apparently from samples online, it's pretty good. Check it out.

- They are planning for a "major" announcement for the summer/Gamescom.

Special thanks to Jirokichi for live translating most of this!

I got accepted to NeoGaf not long ago, I was a longtime member of 1up.com before that was shut down so I'm a little late to this thread. I've had this game since it launched and I'm about 90+ hrs in using Umbra to go back and complete side quests before I finish the main story as I'm right at the end. I was lucky enough to get one of the Ultimate Collectors Editions off the Square-Enix website, literally $500 (cnd) later and its one of the best purchases gaming wise I've made. As a long time Final Fantasy guy I think its the best thing from the series since the PSone era. I hadn't really enjoyed the series since FFX maybe abit of FFXII.

I had a couple questions though, about what level would you say you can take on Adamantoise (the giant turtle boss)?

I'm at level 81 ish right now and before the timed quests went to the QP currency my gf and I had alot of fun battling Cactuar and Midgardsormr's for the fun of it and raking in the XP and gil but haven't really gotten into the new timed quests.

My next question is it worth waiting to complete all the side quests, is there any benefit to waiting or should I just finish up the main story and continue to go back through Umbra and complete the side quests afterwards as I hope to Platinum the game.

I've gotta give an official shout out to my gf who'd never played a FF game in her life, shes now about 60+ hrs in herself and can understand 90% of the nerdy shit I'm saying, I bought her a plush Cactuar to commemorate this joyful event haha.

Thanks in advance for whomever answers my questions!

Is there a level difference between the bounty enemies and the enemies on the field?
Like a level 10 monster I randomly fight is a lot easier than another level 10 monster I specifically am hunting for the bounty.
Maybe it's just me. But I'm either breezing through or getting my ass handed to me. There's no middle point.

Also, how come sometimes I'll be driven somewhere and sometimes it'll go to a loading screen when I want to go somewhere?

Hello and welcome! I'm glad you are having a good time with the game! :D

You can approach it however you want. You will be able to take on the side-quests even when you finish the story, so no worries there.

People take on the Atamantoise at different varying levels. I took it on when I was level 75, so it really depends on when you feel most comfortable to take it on! :)

Hunts are a bit more aggressive and put up a bit more of a challenge.

Hola, and welcome!

You could one-hit kill Adamantoise with the Ring of the Lucii's Alterna spell (hold lock-on button + warp-button while having full MP), but sometimes it takes a few tries :D Just quickly warp to one of the surrounding rocks to refill your MP in between your tries. Super easy and quick way.
