I'll post my over all thoughts/brief review of the game here so I don't have to mess with spoiler tags in the OT or Review thread.

Overall I had a good time with it. I'm shelving it for now (maybe for good) at level 87 (other 3 at 85) and a bit over 67 hours played. In terms of post game/optional stuff I got all the kings arms, did all the optional dungeons, got the key to open the 8 sealed doors and did the first one of those (Keycatrich Trench) and did the Pitioss dungeon. Side quest wise the only ones I've found that I haven't completed are a bunch of hunts, a fishing quest (level 28 one), frog lady quest line, Dave/dog tags (don't think that's done) and Randolph's quests (have the level 85 one in my list have done the lower ones).

Pros:

-Beautiful world that was fun to explore despite being mostly barren

-Liked the bros

-Enjoyed the combat as someone that just stayed overleveled and didn't learn the ins and outs really. I don't care for combat in RPGs in general, I'm here for the questing and exploring--and usually the characters and story

-I loved that it was easy to overlevel without a ton of grinding (again, I'm not there for the combat and end up playing a lot of RPGs on easy)

-Game just has some odd charm too it. Maybe it's the odd blend of WRPG and JRPG sensibilities

-Liked the Prompto photo gimmick. As someone who rarely takes screen shots, it was neat looking through them after missions

-Dungeons were pretty decent for a recent RPG

Cons:

-Story was a dumpster fire. Poorly told, and even if it was more fleshed out I just didn't find the story or lore compelling at all

-Lame characters outside of the bros

-Wish they game had more dialogue options to build up the relationship between the bros (and others) more. I'd have liked this a lot more with something like a Bioware dialogue and relationship system.

-Glitches. Only one I got was that my 40 sidequest completed trophy glitched some how--have the 80 quest one and the smaller ones, but not that one. Thankfully I missed the others that people have posted about.

-Not being able to advance time of day--should give you the option when selecting the quest in your log not just when accepting a hunt

-Only being able to carry one hunt at a time

-Terrible load times

-Didn't find the Pitioss dungeon enjoyable as the controls and camera aren't suited for a platformer IMO. Hard to knock the game for something totally optional though.

Overall:

I'd probably give is a solid 8.0. It's a very flawed game with lots more I could nitpick than the above, but I enjoyed my time with it. I'll probably revisit it eventually--especially if they patch that trophy glitch so I can push for the platinum (think all I have is Adamantoise and getting fishing, survival and cooking skills up to 10--survival is at 9 other two at 5 I think) and/or if any of the DLC ends up being decent.

The soundtrack is great but I feel its hard to hear on default settings.
Yeah, it's waaay too low. First thing I did was setting music and radio to 100 and voices and sound-effects to around 40-50 or so. So much better when you can fully hear the great music.

Same. Although I expected it because of Shimomura. :)
I'm really indifferent to the music in KH so I wasn't expecting to be blown away but I'll never doubt Queen Shimomura again.

This, the mob hunt theme, the Zegnautus Battle Theme, Ravus's Battle Theme, and the Insomina Battle Theme are my favorites.

I'm listening to the Insomina battle theme at work right now lol.
Don't forget to appreciate Yoshitaka Suzuki's (and the other arrangers') work! Many of the battle- and boss-themes are his work. He worked on MGS4 and other MGS games before, that's why there's that MGS-y sound in the Hunt Battle theme (such a dooope song!).

He had me at "Dude are you seriously trying to kill me?"

Just so I'm clear, that was actually Prompto right?

I thought that whole sequence was actually pretty clever, in that you could figure out what was going on just by the specific dialogue used before the reveal.

I do hope World of Ruin gets some form of an expansion that lets you explore. That would be so sick.

That feeling of "oh man... this is gonna be bad" was so great :(

I also put the sfx at 40.

Yeah he used a stitch in time.

I'm trying to remember one battle theme music that I'm pretty sure happened when I was fighting Magitek soldiers. But I don't know what it's called at all...

Hellfire was my favorite track in the game. I was surprised to learn it wasn't Shimomura. Composer deserves props for quite possibly the most adrenaline pumping, uplifting boss music of all time.

Wasn't that the Loqi and Aranea battle theme? Shame it wasn't used more often.

Yea, I knew it was Imperial-related in some way, but I knew something had to be off, because I don't recall hearing it that often. Not surprised Aranea is linked to this, she's a badass after all.

I'm finding the sidequests and general Duscae content to be a lot more enjoyable now that the main storyline is over. This is how the game should have felt from the start, rather than some jumbled road trip in the middle of chaos. It's greatly improving my feelings on the game itself.

Its fucking glorious. The final part is awesome as fuck. But in general, that whole fight, the scenes... its the best part of the game probably.

Its not Shimomura, but parts of her compositions are in there. Its an arrangement of sorts.
