Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

It's a what if scene, if the wedding went through without the senseless wars and the treaty actually worked. That's my take on it

Hmm.. I thought of that but in my opinion, it doesn't click on me because one, the photograph was chosen at the end of the game and two, I really don't see any reason why they would make a what if ending. I just don't see the connection.

Im just speculating btw.

OMG, wait a sec. Aranea summons her spear!

Does Aranea get the ability to summon swords like the main four because she's becomes friends with Noctis? That ability comes from the royal line. It looked very deliberate.

Now that I can finally talk about the game: To anyone who's finished it, there's a secret dungeon near the Rock of Ravatogh that you can only access with the flying Regalia - look for a yellow line on the map and land there. You HAVE to do this dungeon.

It's one of the coolest things I've ever done in a game. Five hours of puzzle-platforming. Enjoy it.

How do you land there???

what i mean is, its just a titanic like scene, either in the afterlife or what if scene.

Got it, brother. Forgive me on the response.

I guess the reason why I ask too because don't the kings inside the ring were previous living before?

Ah, I'll just play the game and figure it out. In my humble opinion, the post credit scene seems to be open for interpretation. I'm just trying to connect the dots.

But yeah, Noctis got skewered like a shish kebab. The king that stabbed him looks like a Persona summon. I like the design. Haha...

I like this. Makes the ending less sad imo. Plus, it kinda works with Regis congratulating the two..

WHY DID EVERYONE HAVE TO DIE!? I REALLY LIKED THIS CAST!

Watched the ending, seriously everyone dies? That's so boring.
Makes the whole quest seem kind of pointless. I understand the Ragnorak inspiration but the ending is nothing but bitter. Noctis crying and saying he made peace with his short life is sad, but he has nothing to really show for his death except "I killed the demon thingy."

I hope Tabata is never allowed to direct a Final Fantasy game again, I'm extremely unsatisfied with his influence. I understand the game's 2nd half got rushed after a huge development cycle, but there was so many different ways he could have adapted Nomura's original vision.

I'm glad the game is still fun, but I am tremendously disappointed with the story. :/

Hyperbole much,

Game is fine. you might not agree with the ending, but that's your opinion on it.

What was nomura's vision anyway?

we didn't see much from it.

There have been a lot more walkthrough videos posted, so I've been able to get a better grasp of this game's story. I like it. The entire narrative revolves around Noctis growth as a future king and eventually learning what that means for him. It's a poignant story that packs some heart-breaking emotional beats, and it is without question the bleakest final fantasy story to date.

Unfortunately, I feel like the story tried to do too much. There's the road trip with Noctis and his friends, the love story with Luna, the relationship with his dad, and the revenge thing with Ardyn. All of these plot threads are connected by Noctis, yet somehow they never seem to mesh together into a cohesive narrative. This problem is especially noticeable in the finale where the writers gave each thread its own separate scene instead of bringing them all together into a single ending. There's a lot of potential in 15 story, it's just a shame they it was never realized.

FF7 had an entire town genocided through incineration by flamethrower through corperate dictatorship order. A corpse hanging from the ceiling via chain isn't all that

FF6 has it's whole "end of the World Schtick" with all the depression to go around. FF7 has multiple occasions of total massacres, FF2 has tons of NPCs die for you. FF4 has...well a lot of fake deaths but they were impactful in the mean time lol. FF9 has Lindblum.

It's not something the franchise isn't intimate with. If the villain or the scene calls for violence, then you shall receive.

People dying off-screen, or dying on-screen in an "trivial" way, is much different than rotten decade-old corpses hanging from the ceiling to decorate a throne room, IMO.

The closest analogue I can think of is Jenova's rampage in the Shinra building, but there the highly stylised visuals helped tone things down. (As a sidenote, I'm really interested to see the remake's interpretation of that scene and Jenova's other appearances, especially since it's something the Compilation largely sidestepped; aside from Crisis Core's Nibelheim section and the one shot of pre-decapitation Jenova in AC.) FF usually opts for dramatic rather than gruesome imagery in its handling of violence and death, and in that regard the throne room scene stands out a lot despite not having any actual gore.

Finally got to Luna's death. Hoo fucking boy. That was just. the worst.. And suddenly!blind Ignis will never not be hilariously terribad.

The CG cutscene was stunning, though, I'll give them that. Can't wait to gif it.

Yoo, that secret post-game dungeon is no joke. Did it last night, was up till 2 am. I needed a hug and a cigarette afterward.

I feel like all the angst around the development was channeled into this evil puzzle box of precision jumping.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to go to Insomnia at daytime? The loading screen shows Insomnia with a sunset.

Also, is it possible to go to the weird island by Galdin Quay? How many areas are accessible only by airship?

Its not really pointless I think. If Noctis didn't die, the cycle would never end. Ardyn was a Lucis (the first one?) and worse yet an immortal. With the Oracle dead the balance was towards eternal darkness as long as he roamed. The only way to fix this was to truly eradicate Ardyn in the afterlife. But Noctis himself also needed to go because he is a Lucis too. From what I gather the Lucis line needed to go extinct once the Oracle was dead.

How Ardyn became immortal isn't clear to me. It had to do with his victory over the plague of the stars. He absorbed it instead of sacrificing himself and thus was banished?

I think him helping Noctis rise to power made sense in the end. He wanted to end his own life and only a well prepped chosen king could do it.

This is the badassery i'd expect from Shiva instead of the way the summon looks.

Ok so how does Ardyn become immortal? I have to give them credit, this game's plot is not incredibly convoluted. There aren't many plot twists at all so the plot doesn't twist upon itself like a tales game and the goal is always clear. Gotta give them credit for that even though the game's pacing is a mess and typical of JRPGs there are plot holes and just odd wtf moments like "a stitch in time." that never gets brought up by anyone in the cast.

I need help.

I'm on Chapter 9 and have arrived at Altissia. Noctis and the bros want to see Luna's dress at the Vivienne Westwood store, but I can't find it? I spent over a day in-game, but it's so easy to get lost. =/

I know NPCs give you hints as you get closer, but the closest I got was to that hotel where you're greeted by Gentiana and the dog. Two NPCs said that the store is somewhere close to that hotel, but I still can't find it.

Is there a Youtube video or something helpful on this? I already tried to search online, but couldn't find anything.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found it.

I'm fairly certain Ardyn became immortal because he found the cure to the disease that was causing people to turn to Daemons--and it just so happened that it involves absorbing the illness and keeping it inside of him. This in and of itself made him immortal, I think, but he went evil because he was ostracized by one of the Lucis kings despite saving everyone.

You could argue that the daemon stuff would've driven him mad anyway, but being demonized instead of canonized for saving the "world" from a plague is a great reason to be pissed.

Yeah not to mention the Astrals denied his ascension because of it and brandished him a demon himself. Ardyn is a tormented soul and the way he speaks about his immortality is that he doesn't really enjoy it.

He's a very good villain imo, one of the best. But as so many he was badly explained in this game. He wasn't really insane I think, at least he orchestrated everything from the war to the marriage to get Noctis out of Insomnia for his quest for power and then also killing the Oracle. Then he launched the darkness upon the world and let Noctis reach full potential, so he could get his desired battle with the chosen king.

One that was once a good man who saved many lives and was punished for it. Then he went to great lengths to exact revenge on the crystal and also on his own curse. He pretty much wanted to be killed and take the whole Lucis line with him. He essentially succeeded.

Yea his motivation makes complete sense, dude got played like a fiddle and thus went all scorched earth. Seriously wish they would explain how he fooled the empire for 30 straight years into not questioning his lack of aging. In fact it would make sense if he was like magically mind controlling Ledolus or something considering how bored the and emotionless the dude is with like everything. "Kill the princesszzzz" Either way, he won, the family that betrayed him died with Noctis, really wish the bros and Luna weren't there during the ending as this whole thing was between him and the Lucian Kings.

Ledolas Aldercapt is really bad and his demon form was wtf inducing as well. But he was merely a dumb power hungry fuck being used by Ardyn. He was Trump and Ardyn was Pence.

I think i made a mistake!

After completing the game it ask me to chose a save file so i chose the insomnia one. All the sudden im back to the last boss. Do i have to do it again?

I wouldn't have minded if Gentiana was literally Shiva's design in the game. It would have been a refreshing version of the classic summon.

Well, I believe I am now on Chapter 10.

The CGI scene featuring Noctis and Luna is rather beautiful. I, especially, like the end when Noctis transforms from a child to an adult. Ray Chase was very believable with the crying.

No you can't as far as I know. The airship doesn't go past the coastline. For some reason Noctis wakes up in that island by Galdin Quay.

There are so many questions. I see some explain Ardyn's backstory but I'm not sure where most of that info comes from.

Do they explain Arydn's back story well or not really? I'm interested to know why some people call him a great villain when it seems like they don't really focus on what he is doing up to the point I am in the story.

Bahamut explains it to Noctis while he's sleeping for ten years

It would have been too human. Even if I like Gentiana more than Shiva visually, I don't think she'd have fit as a summon. Though maybe they could have retained more elements of her design for Shiva, like a similar fringe and maybe even white robes approximating the silhouette of her outfit. The current Shiva design could even be retained for the additional ones that appear during the summon sequence; clearly distinguishing which is the lead could give the scene more focus.

In that scenario, I like the in-universe justification of the other "Shivas" being various women Gentiana granted a form of immortality to throughout the ages after their untimely deaths. Maybe Luna could be part of her harem when she shows up against Ifrit...

That would be cool. I think Peasant make a theory video on how Shiva could be connected to the oracles. Speaking of, I wish some of his theories would've made it into the game.

Oh and I got the game!! The artbook looks so pretty! Any news about the collector's edition having extra story content? I would think so considering the character relation chart that's there.
