Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

That one scene with Noct warping to a buidling as the other falls apart blew me awayn in a early trailer. Still super happy with it and my GOTY.

I just wish they would have that entire scene back for the NG+ - like an alternate take on how the Leviathan scene was supposed to play out. I wouldn't mind at all the jarring change in graphics and scenery because I liked it better in the original trailer. Also they should add in all the cinematics that they cut out, like Noctis as a young boy eating with his dad with their green tongues - that should all be added back in. It's weird that they would take all that out after spending so much time and money on them. They should just rework Aldercept and Verstael's faces [using the Kingsglaive models] and put all those cinematics back in the game. That would add a ton of extra things to see and experience!

Gods don't need it no mo'

Noctis' family aren't the original Lucis Caelums. Their ancestor (presumably Izunia) stole the name from Ardyn. It seems to indicate the god's chosen line, as well as being king of Lucis.

Yeah I realized Nocti's family aren't the original Lucis Caelum, the original is probably Ardyn's. But If Noctis family was Izunia originally, how did his family take that name that was originally Ardyn?

I was thinking of Penelo as the Yuffie of FFXII but I just remembered she didn't really exist in XII.

So I'm curious... what happened to Luna's hairpin she receives in Kingsglaive from Nyx? She's wearing it in the ending but I don't think it makes even one appearance in the actual game outside the end. Dat is some kind of sorcery, lol.

Same hairpin. I was just wondering where it was since it isn't seen in the game.

This game screams DLC opportunities, off the top of my head we have:

-DLC about Prompto after Noctis disappears into crystal
-DLC about Ignis after Noctis disappears into crystal
-DLC about Gladiolus after Noctis disappears into crystal

All three DLCs should obviously intertwine and help tell the story of how the world coped while in a perpetual state of darkness and under the strain of a constant daemon threat. I'd assume humans are on the verge of extinction at this point, but they never explore that possibility. This depressingly bleak new world is ripe for stories to be told, and they just fast forwarded to the end with zero buildup. They needed to make the reunion a much, MUCH bigger event than it was. Huge missed opportunity.

-DLC about Ravus, just in general to flesh him out as he became an intriguing character after reading the documents in chapter 13. It was a mistake to let that much play out offscreen. To to see him sprawled out on the floor dead so suddenly was bizarre.

-DLC about how the scourge played out in Galea along with Ardyn's betrayal. This and the daemon research with prompto being an MT needed to be expanded upon greatly.

-DLC about the world after Noctis, Luna, Regis and presumably Prompto, Gladioulus and Ignis have passed on. How does the world rebuild now that light has been brought back? Perhaps the answer is too obvious to be worth creating DLC about (as in the world simply rebuilds and lives on just fine, the end), but it gives you a reason to maybe play as Aranea, Talcott or perhaps Iris.

You can't make substantial amounts of content for everything listed here, but they really need to delve more deeply into these things to some greater extent. Overall this game is one of the best examples of something being greater than the sum of its parts. I can pick it apart all day, but somehow it still resonated with me and created a positive lasting impression. It's odd in that sense, and frustrating because it could have been legitimately great. It makes me wonder how the DLC will alter my opinion.

the DLC will be Ignis in altissia, Gladio when he's off being a hunter, and Prompto after you hit him off the train.

The world of ruin stuff does scream either missed opportunity or cut content. I doubt it will be dlc, but who knows

Ravus's story will be patched in, not DLC.

I'd assume having that much DLC being told under similar circumstances would be too repetitive now that I think about it again, sooner or later the player gets the point that the world of ruin sucked. So your note about them being about different points in the plot makes sense. It could probably just be one DLC with all three of them working together in the world of ruin trying to survive, rather than just following one character.

This isn't confirmed nor is it the only possibility, unless I missed something.

Yea. It could be that izunia was a king from another kingdom, possibly nif. That would make his corruption of the empire a nice revenge. He never said the king was lucian. Or izunia could be his brother. It was too vague really.

Do you guys think Prompto Killed Verstael(or his monster form)? Could be Prompto's revenge for years of isolation.

Only plausible explanation as to why the mad scientist simply disappeared.

Then maybe Ardyn crucified him & tortured him.

We could gain much insight into what happened in the captial with Prompto DLC.Fingers crossed.

This optional dungeon had potential, but it's so cheap it hurts. Noctis doesn't control well enough for platforming and his stupid little roll after long jumps screws up a lot of the precise jumps. To top it off the game doesn't even let you save.

we'll learn in 2017 i guess

If you're level 99, the sealed doors aren't worth doing, the weapons aren't that much better to go through all that crap, IMO.

I'mma do it anyways. Game's combat is fun enough that I'm unusually into taking on all the optional dungeons and the crazier monsters in this game, even despite the tedium of some (most?) of them.

Ardyn heavily implies it. I don't see any other interpretation to it, aside of who Izunia was.
All Ardyn implies is that izunia was the jealous king. He doesn't allude to him being nocts ancestor, or really who izunia was. As i said earlier he could be from another kingdom, or even related to ardyn. Both would fit with what we know now.

Yep. It was just frustrating as hell.

Fuck those custard slimes that are invulnerable to physical attacks.

I hated them until I remembered the ring. It kills them using up around 150mp. Way faster than casting magic for me.

I'm so sad we didn't get to explore the snow biome.

I'm sad we didn't get to explore a lot of places... Tenebrae for one. :( Might one of my most disappointing aspects of the game. It looked beautiful from the distance. Also the lack of time you spent in the World of Ruin (and lack of other characters there) was a big disappointment, too.

Loved it, very well put together. And I don't understand some complaints, there's like 3 or 4 difficult jumps in the whole thing. The checkpoint system was very forgiving as well.

It's just tedious as fuck. And as already stated, this game simply isn't meant for platforming. The slighest nudge can just mess you up completely. And the gravity section in particular... Ugh.

I appreciate the design and what they were going for, and it was optional as well, but I didn't have remotely any fun at all throughout the majority of my time there.

Anyone already thinked that maybe SE trolled themselves by doing Chapter 13 the worst of all, making it tedious, boring and onrails precisely because is the chapter number XIII?

Taking as premise that the game coencidently has XV chapters.

I noticed that too, lol. Carrying over from another thread (despite being mostly sarcastic):

Holy crap lol.

Final Fantasy 15.

15 chapters.

QUICK, someone do a meta-analysis of the game and a chapter-by-chapter breakdown..!!

I suppose the kids in IV and VI sorta qualify.

Kinda. Porom, Krile and Relm would've fit that role, even though they aren't as stereotypical "peppy" as post-FFVII FF games. FFXI has Eiko and FFXII had Penelo.

Funny thing, had FFXV gone with the three girl tradition of party members (including these ladies as ACTUAL party members, not just guests or important NPCs), which usually was broken up into the "main heroine" type (type 1), the "young/youthful" type (type 2), and the "experienced/knowledgeable/warrior" type (type 3), it would've been Luna (type 1), Iris (type 2) and Aranea (type 3). From FFIV on onward, we had:

FFIV: 1. Rosa, 2. Porom, 3. Rydia
FFV: 1. Lenna/Reina, 2. Krile, 3. Faris
FFVI: 1. Terra, 2. Relm, 3. Celes
FFVII: 1. Aerith, 2. Yuffie, 3. Tifa (though at times, Tifa and Aerith could be swapped)
FFVIII: 1. Rinoa, 2. Selphie, 3. Quistis
FFIX: 1. Garnet, 2. Eiko, 3. Freya
FFX: 1. Yuna, 2. Rikku, 3. Lulu
FFXII: 1. Ashe, 2. Penelo, 3. Fran
FFXIII: 1. Lightning, 2. Vanille, 3. Fang

Like FFXIII, I'm actually sick of condensing the story into chapters. I don't want to know how far I am into the game as according to how many chapters in I am. Leave the chapters out and just like the game flow as one long experience, the way it SHOULD be. I'm gonna be pissed if FFXVI has 16 Chapters.

Do lvl ??? enemies scale? I'm asking because in the interest of science, I went back and fought Ifrit and Ardyn. First time around it I was about lvl 40-43. Second time I was lvl 65, with the Ultima Blade equipped. I found Ardyn hit just as hard, whittled my health down quickly, and I didn't seem to deplete his health any quicker than I did at lvl 40ish.

That's...an amazingly shrewd observation right there.

Luna/Iris/Aranea exactly fit the typical distribution found in the series.

In the middle of the 6th Sealed Door dungeon (Steyliff) - I didn't know it's supposed to have 100 floors, but luckily you can save when using camps. I'm glad I didn't have to leave my console running when I went to bed.

I think I'm around 60-80 floors in and the dungeon itself is by far the worst Sealed Door one so far. The previous ones were boring with a few sets of enemies per dungeon and everything looking the same. This one not only has 100 floors, but also introduces Tonberries, which hit like a truck, but also take forever to kill (lv 99, adamantite bangle, legend weapons etc.). Even my power 300+ spell which breaks the 9999 damage limit barely does anything to them. I actually ran out of my 99 elixirs, but luckily I still have 80+ hi elixirs on me.

I'm not worried about the 7th dungeon, but reading that the last one not only has 60 floors, but also disables all items makes me want to skip it without even trying. Especially since it's in the Tower, so you'll have to go through all of it again if you die before the first camp.
