I know what you're talking about! Dude is straight up impenetrable. Come break your blades on his armor!

I read that as "come break your babies on his armor". *chuckles*

Omg... I nearly died laughing when I looked at the last page and saw
36 hours in. At this point, this is me and Donnel:

Okay so just to be sure (Chapter 9 spoilers)
the decision you make in regards to sacrificing Emmeryn makes no difference, and no matter what you get ambushed and Phila dies, correct?

So there comes a point in every Fire Emblem where I end up with some unstoppable murder machine, who runs out into the thick of it while everyone else mops up stragglers.

I'm at that point surprisingly early this time, thanks to the pair up mechanic. Avatar re-classed to thief paired with Frederick... has never been hit. Time to bench that combo, no man should have that power.

I just want to say that I absolutely love this game. You might have seen a couple of my posts earlier where I felt a little disappointed by the game at first, and said I wished it was more like Final Fantasy Tactics. Well, I finally found the charm in Fire Emblem. This game rocks.

Got tired of looking for this in the store, so I grabbed it digital. Graphical style really reminds me of Brave Story on psp.

digging it though. Love the magic effects. Started on Hard. Hopefully I don't get super bodied.

Well think about it: If people were to treat it like a puzzle and consider a mission not "solved" until one beats it with all units intact, as one argued earlier... they could do this just as easily on Casual. Classic, then, is only distinct if you play it so that the dead truly stay dead -- or in other words, not resetting to salvage cherished units.

So basically, it makes no difference? The original question made it sound more like "why don't people just play casual so they don't have to reset?"

Also, you can't save anywhere in classic. You can in casual. So you could take advantage of that and save if you get yourself in a good position in a battle just in case things go wrong later.

I suppose you could argue that you could just not use that feature, but you don't get anywhere. Why have classic mode, if a unit falls in battle during casual mode you could just not use them anymore, right?

So theres really nothing you can do with
DLC Marth
via promotions right? Hes like, a unique class and doesnt seem to learn any new skills as he levels, according to the Wiki.

Just hit 15 with him and didnt get a new skill, and thinking about benching to level up other people for a bit.

He has the same options as a male MU.

Do you guys think FE:A will make NPD next month? I can't think of much else releasing in February but the thought of a 3DS game making NPD is patently absurd.

Don't think we will :(

And we've had stuff like NSMB2 and KH:DDD show up on the NPD.

Second. My army is female-heavy, and it's killing me that I can't get S ranks between them.

Maybe I am just not far enough, but opposite here. I have 2 females I use regularly, with a 3rd on switch. All 3 of them also cannot be involved with Chrom, so unless I go out of my way to hook him up he will
probably shack up with the village chick.

Henry is all kinds of fucked up.

lol.

"yeeeah blood"

Henry's awesome. He's the Butters of this game. He even says "aw, hamburgers." My favorite line of his though is a shoutout to Saw, "Oh yes, there will be blood."

Apparently he has nerve damage, so the dude barely feels pain even when there's a huge fresh scar on his back. That, and the smiles might or might not be a facade for his parents wanting to get rid of him as a kid.

My playstyle is camp the bridges with generals backed by mages and load up every other unit with extra spears and vulneraries.

Dark Knights all the way, breh. Mobile tanks that use magic are the shit.

Thief stole some kind of Arms book or Arms scroll during paralogue 4, is that bad? Should I restart or is it not a big deal?

Not a big deal.

What they do is level up a unit's weapon level to the next instantly.

Like if MU has a C in Tomes and B in Swords, using a Arms Scroll will level up to B and A respectively.

Not a big deal. It just brings your Weapon proficiency to the next level (so if you want someone who's got C in Swords to get to B, you can do it instantly). In other Fire Emblems it was a bigger deal but since you can challenge Risen so often, bringing weapon proficiency up isn't that hard.

Arms Scrolls are really good for units who get useful weapon options when they promote. Like a cavalier going to great knight, or Donnel when he promotes to Merc. You can skip the bronze junk that way and go straight to iron and some special weapons.

Did that with Sully when I made her a Great Knight, having iron axes (and Orsin's Hatchet) out the gate definitely makes me more willing to use axes with her.

Not as useful for magic classes with melee weapons, or vice versa, since the stats don't really work most of the time (6 str will result in bad damage regardless).

Is it a waste to pair Gaius with Sumia seeing as how Gaius can give the pegasus knight (and thus galeforce) class to his kid? Is there someone better to pair him up with?

This should be posted every time someone tries to say that Donnel isn't worth it.

The only time I would truly consider Donnel a liability would be in Lunatic+ mode.

Because I really don't see how it's a good idea to risk leveling him up (much less actually acquire him) against enemies that can kill you at any given moment.

I've got six in my army, and at least three others that I wish I could bring in. There's a fair number of dudes with decent personalities, but the women have the stats to back it up.

Galeforce seems kind of overrated. I wouldn't fret it.

What is considered to be the best FE for the SFC?

I highly doubt this fit into their reasoning at all, especially in this game world. Children can get married to adults in this game, ugh.

Well, in medieval times women usually get married at 15 and were usually married to much older people (and ususally died in child birth)

Any way for same-sex marriage, just think of it as like ancient greece, marriage is just for breeding purposes only.

The Paralogue for Cordelia's kid is stupidly hard. I fucking hate escort missions.

Spam rescue staff (buyable in a store) on her, I don't recall there being any reinforcements.

You could always have a mage stay behind and warp her back every so often. It should buy 2 turns for her. Also have ranged characters take the right path, since they can take out the mages/archers that are behind those walls. You have to try to force Severa not to hug the wall closest to the enemies too.

So seriously, at what point do you people start finishing paralogue's kids? The only one I've managed legitimately (no deaths) is Morgan, everything else is overkilled for me, barely gotten Sully's kid.

What? No. Take a game that offers hard mode with enemies that do double damage. You can play 'normal' and just intentionally get hit again if you get hit one time. Does that make any sense? No. Why would you reset on casual and waste all that precious time when you can still win? Classic can be emulated on casual, obviously, but the idea with difficulty modes and styles is to give the player a different measure to fight against. No resets is a cool challenge mode, kinda like XCOM's ironman. But there's a huge gap between playing casual, sacrificing half your army every map, and playing on classic. Classic mode forces you to confront the decision, do I let my time spent playing this map so far go to waste, or do I waste all the exp put into that character? And sometimes, it is worth it to leave characters dead. Playing without resetting is more along the lines of a self imposed challenge, that goes way beyond what the game needs from you. It's like choosing to do a three heart run or a nuzlocke challenge. Cool, but a little sadistic.

I guess what I'm getting at is that classic with resets is a big step up from casual, and for me it's the only reasonable way to play. On casual it would be too easy to get reckless and win while constantly letting a few weak units die each level. No resets would not only fully lack a sense of progression as my army got constantly weaker, but also probably just require me to restart the game altogether several times. Which at that point we're back to resetting, just on a larger scale.

There is most definitely reinforcements on that stage.

The left and right side have spawns that come periodically. The middle has four spots which starts spawning enemies when the kid talks to the villager.
