Most late game reinforcements suck anyway. Except Jaffar.
First that Takumi avatar and now this!Harken >>>>>>> Karel gameplay wise
Harken >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Karel interesting character wise.
I miss the premarried couples as well, as for the first Chrom and Ricken should have existed but I never understood why they didn't get a support.
The reason I don't want kids in everygame (I don't mind them if they're used sparingly), is that they kind replace the lategame reinforcements that you usally get. So no more Gatos.

Would people be really upset if there was still marriage but no children? Is that really what's selling these games?
Hell, it'd even make it easier for more same-sex marriages when you don't have to awkwardly explain children all the time.

The biggest reason I want kids out is because it really limits the variety of characters and relationships we get other than "they get married" or "they're parent and child but the same age".
Where's the master/apprentice like Sety/Asvel or Pent/Erk? Where's the lovingly married couple like Louise/Pent or Largo/Calill? What about the complicated mess like Rebecca/Dart/Wil?
Fates did add retainer-relationships which are cool and some of the late game characters like Shura are neat, bit I really miss the variety.

Hmm, red haired Sophie looks a bit weird.
CED CED CED.
Awakening revealed to the masses what has always been a series truth. Fire Emblem has been shipper's paradise since before it even came to the west.Would people be really upset if there was still marriage but no children? Is that really what's selling these games?

They still bought the game though!
Oh, it's always been about shipping. But maybe we don't need kids unless they want to go straight Genealogy on everybody's asses.
he was great in two games!
Fair Point. Although the compliant will be about censorship of removing features. They still bought the game though!
That was supposed to be my point, actually! They still bought the game though!

I just want the children's to play a bigger role, and I mean all of them, just like FE 4.
I was thinking why not go the radiant dawn way an split the armies and have predetermine cannon pairings or something. I don't know, it's complicated

I was so close to beating Birthright Chapter 15, and then the boss of that chapter got a 3% crit on Oboro and killed her.
There goes a whole hour.
People that complain don't follow logic. How will people claim "censorship" if it's not even in the Japanese version though?
100% agreed.
And it's the name change that always pisses me off the most.
Actually this kind of harps on the whole reason I don't love the children: They're just useless characters in the story. Aside from Lucina, they're pretty much meaningless. Even if you didn't really want to use late game units in older games, they still had some slight significance in the plot.
Now, of course, paralogues are optional because it's easy to miss kids, so technically no one should care because it's a secondary thing. But if you're going to introduce all these characters as "bonuses" it just sort of feels like a waste.
I'd rather have longer support chains, base conversations, maybe even post S-Rank support scenes, etc. There's a lot more you can do with supports in the game, children just seems like a lame thing to keep around after two (recent) games.
A few lines of translation is an understatement.People got mad over a few lines of translation.

always baffling considering there's a forseti tome in the same game
but there have always been useless to the story late game characters whose only plot relevance is revealed through supports (if supports are even a thing) in games and i don't see people asking for their removal
Be! Aggressive! Be be aggressive!Paralogue 6 (Sophia) is driving me nuts.
These villagers are outright suicidal. They pushed past my choke point to die to a bunch of mounted knights despite having 15 HP and no weapons.
I had to reset last night when I missed a 97% chance to hit, and another when someone got hit by three 20% chances in a row.
Always good fun.
Did the paralogue on birthright last night to get Kana and thought it was pretty easy,.sent Takumi to kill the archers, Kaze to kill the sword guys in the South East, Corrin straight South, and everyone else West to deal with the mages and other sword guys and just mopped up in a few turns.
They at least come from our dimension.
Paralogue 2 destroyed me the first time I tried it, but after getting Takumi and archer Mozu, it was a piece of cake. Mozu is basically god status. I beat it in six turns, so Llewyn and Lloyd didn't even show up.
I'll try asking a third time. Is there a way to know what weapons are better than another, and is there a way to equip other than optimize?
Me too.
Same with Rhajat. Hinoka is her mother and Rhajat with bright red hair is strange.Hmm, red haired Sophie looks a bit weird.
Children are great for a lot of reasons, mostly because they're tangible payoff to the pairings you craft. They just fucked up and made Fates' children bland as hell. I loved Awakening's group of kids but these ones are mostly lame.
You should go play FE4 then!

Here here! I agree with all this. This forcing of children just leads to compromised characterization and plot involvement.Actually this kind of harps on the whole reason I don't love the children: They're just useless characters in the story. Aside from Lucina, they're pretty much meaningless. Even if you didn't really want to use late game units in older games, they still had some slight significance in the plot. FE characters usuallly lose plot significance immediately due to the whole permadeath thing, but the children take it to a new level.

The kids in Awakening and Fates are more like "bonus content" than anything, so it's frustrating seeing resources put into them and then them kind of falling flat in their relevance.
.. Of course, most of you who know me know I just want a Genealogy remake. With all the almost-incest they are allowing to make it over, maybe they are prepping us for the full-on plot incest storyline of FE4 (also, thank you, Game of Thrones, for normalizing it? lol).
Maybe they can have more of a "trainee"/apprenticeship system in the next game instead, so skills can still be passed on, but no one has to have kids.
I'm not sure you could remake FE4 without removing what makes it great. It's incredibly unbalanced and Holy Weapons are OP but nerfing them would ruin the point. The maps are so big they feel tedious sometimes but they also add an amazing sense of scale when you realize chapters are on the scale of nations. Inventory and gold management is obtuse but so interesting.
I definitely think it's worth playing in its original form.

I had it. I HAD it. Last turn of chapter 10, the enemies were right in front of the green tiles, so I put up a last line of defense to survive that one turn and then victory was mine. I set up everybody perfectly in position so they would withstand the last assault. Last units I had to move literally on the entire chapter, with a support Corrin. All I needed to do was switch Corrin to the lead with the dragonstone equipped and brag about how I beat hard/classic chapter 10 with no losses on my second try. I moveBerukaposition and then... I just end the turn. I just straight up forgot to switch them around. I immediately realize my mistake and my heart drops a beat. My l33t hardcore© twitch gaming reflexes had just betrayed me. I watch it all as it unfolds. Corrin, like the goddamn boss he is tanks the first guy and his partner. It doesnt matter.Beruka to her, is the first one to land a hit. Next guy comes around, the last one that can actually hit that unit. If the RNGod hears my prayers and blocks or dodges at least one of their attacks (because he had an attack support) then my fluke would be forgiven and everyone would live to see another day. I pray to the random numbers that be and then a voice whispers in my ears:One of the three named characters, the girl from the right
"Git gud"
And that... Was that. Chapter 10 completed. A pyrrhic victory. Feels more like a loss though.
I can't, GAF. I can't do it again. I'm taking that loss.looked like a good unit but screw it. It's not worth it! I'll save in another slot just in case I change my mind but I doubt I'll actually muster the determination to do that again.She... I totally will, won't I? Goddamnit.
