Firewatch |OT| With Me

Great thread title. And considering how much time they spent with the Twin Peaks Rewatch podcast I have to hope some of that bled through into the game. Aside from all the ghosts (kidding).

Excited for this game. I really like the artwork in this game. Watched Playstation Access guys play it and the dialogue was great.

Shame to hear about Unity and the poor performance. I hope my PC can atleast play it at 60fps.

This games gives me Witness vibes, but not a puzzle game, just the style and an exploration game. I really wanna read a review for it, but I am really interested in playing it.

Has anyone played it and have general impression on it?

Yooo, are they called for snow?

"maybe" is probably the best answer

nnnnice. So a one sitting game potentially with that snow day. awww yisssss.

Took me about 4, almost 5 hours, but there were some things I missed so I could have explored more. Dev has said 5-6 hours

story games like this i tend to hardly explore. im there for the story. 4-5 hours sounds fine with me. thats about how long oxenfree was i really enjoyed that game.

The first comment on that Guardian review is brilliant.

Imagine spending the time opening a review of a videogame you know already that you have no interest in because you don't like videogames, reading it anyway, and then posting a comment to complain about how little time there is in the world.
£10 says it was someone from NeoGAF.

I´ve been looking forward to this game since Playstation E3 conference last year. Can´t believe it´s already happening.

Anyone knows at what time does the embargo end? I want to make sure it was worth the wait before I pony up $20.

10am PST, so in around 3h and 30min

Yeah, Jake did such an amazing job with the map. I wish I could erase my memory of the layout because I'd love to experience what it's like to actually need it.

Really excited for this. I was sold from the first screenshot I saw. Game is gorgeous.

Does anyone have any insight on why they went with either the PS4 or Steam versions? Still trying to decide the best way to experience this game.

Been really looking forward to this one for a while now. Others have said it but fantastic thread title too.

PC obviously.

This game will look gorgeous at high resolution. I hope they add lots of effects and not be held back by the PS4.

Will still wait for reviews on length tho.

If I can give one piece of advice, it's to turn off the "Show location on map" option. I'm a hiker and they totally nailed the feeling of using your map, compass, and landmarks to orient yourself and find your way.

That sounds amazing, should have been off by default.

Can't read the ot, not exactly colour blind friendly lol. Interested in this for sure, hope it lives up to its promise.

Now to be fair, I started the game last week, so I don't recall now if it was off by default or if I turned it off, but I definitely recommend playing it with that option off

The "you are here" dot is on by default but you can turn it off in settings before starting the game if you'd like.

If you're the sort of person who is interested in disabling the map dot, it may interest you to know there is also an option to suppress the notification pop ups that appear when your next goal changes. (Your current objective still always appears on the map screen, but without the popup it makes things a bit less guided immediately.)

No reviews and it releases tomorrow...oh well, looks great, getting it anyway.
Review embargo is in a few hours!

I have plenty of ram and processor speed, but only an intel hd 4000 graphics card. would I be able to play this? I'm soooo close to pulling the trigger, but I need to know that i can actually play it :(

Can't wait until this comes out. My only regret is that it isn't coming out in the middle of the summer so I can feel that heat like in the game.

So won't be out tomorrow roughly 6:00PM GMT ;(

Yeah, 10 am PST. The developers stated they did this so that they can have staff available for support after the game's launch, something that wasn't feasible for a midnight, staggered, release.

To Chris, Jake and Olly: Any chance of you guys (plus others at Campo Santo) getting together and doing a podcast solely about Firewatch? It would be really cool to sometime down the line hear about how it was made and what led you to make certain choices.

Yeah, I'd love this.

Really, I just like hearing you guys talk about stuff.

I'm ludicrously excited for this one. Only have a couple of days before I go away... I hope I can make it through :3

Yeah, I'd love this.

Yeah I know, it's okay really. After a two year wait its only one day away!!

I guess i'll check out Dying Light the Following before this in the morning.

+1 to a Firewatch podcast episode too.

I'm going with the PC version, since my PC easily outperforms my PS4 and I'm assured it will be backwardscompatible with my next PC. Combine that with the comfy couch convenience of Steam's big picture mode and I feel I'm getting the best of both worlds.

So pumped for this game. It's amazing how little Campo Santo had to show me in order to get me interested. Can't wait to read some reviews and to hopefully pick it up.

Same here. I'm also going to buy the PS4 theme. Love the aesthetic.
