Looks like fun. Love the Zeppelin use.
Nope, it's Forgotten Realms. New characters. They might have riffed on it a little. At the comicon panel, they mentioned that Critical Role had a huge impact on the fanbaseIt this based on Vox Machina? Maybe it's just the red haired druid chick with horns.
Looks fun. Nice to see a black dragon spitting acid as well.
And nobody says anything. They better have one character die and be replaced by a completely different character played by the same guy.
Remember, Orcs and Drow aren't evil anymore.
That's probably too meta but it would be cool if they somehow alluded to saving throws, natural 20s and 1s, and stuff like that without quite breaking the 4th wall. They better have one character die and be replaced by a completely different character played by the same guy.
It's taking place in Forgotten Realms. The city they showed looked a LOT like Waterdeep. Maybe Xanather will show up?I liked that trailer! I don't know if I'd have prefered a more serious tone but whatever, looks like a fun movie to watch.
Also, lots of d&d stuff alrrady show... Owlbear, displacer beast, black dragon and a mimic, all looking amazing! Hopefully there are more, like a Beholder, love those dudes.
Neverwinter. It's taking place in Forgotten Realms. The city they showed looked a LOT like Waterdeep. Maybe Xanather will show up?
An ex-Harper turned thief escapes from prison with his partner, a female barbarian, and reunites with a no-talent wizard and a druid new to their team in an effort to rob the cheating conman who stole all their loot from the heist that landed them behind bars, and used it to install himself as the Lord of Neverwinter. Only the traitor is allied with a powerful Red Wizard who has something far more sinister in store.
I don't think it looks bad and I'll watch it. I agree though with the jokes. I would like it better with a more serious vibe. Too many movies do this shtick at this point.Don’t like the vibe. getting bored of these too self aware everything is jokey jokey joke movies that undermine their own stakes. This looks like one of those.
Neverwinter.
This is the plot filed with the copyright office:
I will never forget seeing the first D&D movie in a completely sold out SF theater on a Friday night.
When Tom Baker showed up, some guy in the front yelled, "OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY DONE TO TOM?!"
I disagree, having jokes adds to the realism for me.Don’t like the vibe. getting bored of these too self aware everything is jokey jokey joke movies that undermine their own stakes. This looks like one of those.

Man I remember Reading Ths Dark Elf Trilogy and The Icewind Dale Trilogy by R A Salvatore in Highschool. Such great books. Would love a live action adaptation of those booksI have never seen a game of D&D where people don’t joke around and have fun. There is no party in the world that is super serious all the time, even during super serious events. Heck, games based in and around the D&D worlds have always had lighthearted elements. Baldur’s Gate, PlaneScape: Torment, Legends of Drizzt, etc.
Same! Sadly I don’t think we would ever see a Dark Elf trilogy given today’s cultural climate. The murderous, psychotic, and blatantly chaotic evil matriarchal Menzoberranzan would not be accepted. Plus, correct me if I am wrong, didn’t Wizards of the Coast outright change the history/lore of the Dark Elves to not be evil aligned? Same with orcs in an effort to appease racists who assumed other people were racist?Man I remember Reading Ths Dark Elf Trilogy and The Icewind Dale Trilogy by R A Salvatore in Highschool.
