Holy hell! That is complete lunacy.

Funny thing is he can't see the irony in how he's the racist for suggesting drow and orcs somehow represent humans.
I'm 100% convinced rule 34 type stuff with hot orc women is responsible for this bizarre turn of events.

We straight up told him he was being a racist shithead. Irony is that he is white and 3 in the party are black.

Yeah, that's one way to alienate an already niche clientele.
We told everyone we know to not go to the store after the incident. Not sure how his finances are doing, but I kind of hope its failing.

You should've apologized. Then had your DM create a new villain in your campaign based on the store owner...and made the character a pedo.
Oh we named the village idiot after him in all of our future games. As a memento of his ignorance.

Prior to joining, I remember reading one user in particular tried to claim that using “master” was insulting. Same with “Slave” regardless of the context. I am sure there are plenty of others in this wide internet of fools that believe such utter tripe.

That sounds like something they'd complain about in purple land.

I remember there was a big push to essentially transform much of the lore top down because some guy accused D&D of being racist because of orcs. He said they were meant to resemble black people. I remember thinking how extremely racist it would be to even come to such a conclusion. Who in the fuck looked at a fantasy race of barbaric greenskin monsters and thought "black people". Like what in the fuck?

But they took the bait. Now no race is truly evil, even if they were created by evil gods to whom they still worship and who can control their entire lives. Even tieflings, the offspring of literal demons, who are the most purely evil things in Forgotten Realms lore, are good now. It's so silly. But anyways, the fun of D&D is one can accept or reject whatever they want. In my mind the drow will always worship Lolth and always be evil, the only good ones being those who aggressively resist her will (like Drizzt). Orcs will always be chaotic as their god Gruumsh intended. Etc. I keep that care bear shit out of my Forgotten Realms lore.

Edit: BTW, is Rodriguez's barbarian character a half orc? I watched the trailer a few times and there's something about her that seems inhuman in a way, and I am pretty sure her ears are pointed.

No, just went on about how “historically orcs were used to denigrate marginalized communities” and other nonsense. We just told him “Orcs are orcs. Let them be orcs.“ Then we retooled our Orcs to be Orks. That *really* set him off.
Ohhh yeah, the way Orks in Wh40k talk and are presented is CLEARLY a joke about lower class brits, a lot of whom are probably POC.

And no game shop can ignore GW.

Bravo, I can see why your seditious insurgent group was banned :p

I'm sure WOTC would LOVE to ha e Drow in a film, but I'm very curious how they would be played. The Community kerfuffle clearly shows that you cant put black skin make-up on non African characters AT ALL, but if they just cast black actors you end up with folks that look like the new GoT show with that white hair and that REALLY drives home the "all drow are evil is a problem if they are all black people " (invented) problem.

Malazan would have the same issue, there are black, white, and Grey skinned elf like races there where the skin tone is linked to the morality of their origin.

So are drow now gonna be purple/not quite black? Have a lot more texture/tattoos/tribal make-up so they don't actually have to have native black skin, just lots of dark markings?

I'm very curious how many mock-ups they have done trying to perfect that look for an eventual film. Drizzt is FAR too popular to leave be IMHO.

Disney recipe?
Haven't you seen Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Jewel of the Nile, Jumanji or any films like that? It's not a Disney recipe.
Probably never played a game of DnD in his life.

This ain't Lord of the Rings, it's Dungeons & Dragons, a silly game where no matter how serious you try to do it someone will mishear a name and completely ruin the moment as everyone burstd into laughter.

This movie should be full of comedy.

The look of absolute disgust on my DM's face when my character noticed his meticulously crafted former adventurer NPC was missing a leg, and asked, "How big was the arrow," was priceless.

Honestly, I think people who complain about comedy in films should just go out and find all the serious films that are being made. There are plenty.

Or go make their own if they think they're so clever.

Or watch Threads or Watership Down, then watch the most stupid comedy because they feel so shit afterwards.

Is THAT what these guys are supposed to be? If so, then my point is made.

Or are these the guys from Thay and the drow aren't shown on screen yet?

Those are likely Thayan knights. We saw a red wizard lich earlier in the trailer, then another later, so I figure it's a safe bet. Also assuming they're undead as well.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
It looks awful. Not any better than that Jeremy Irons D&D movie that came out in the 90s or 2000s or whatever it was.
