I'll have to view it again someday. I was in awe and dumbstruck when I watched it, and my wife and I turned to one another and we were both like, "What did we just watch?"

One of the few movies I've seen where I wasn't able to tell you if it was a good movie or a bad movie upon a single viewing. I suppose I'll lean towards good, at least in some capacity. The real life Bronson must have been something to behold.

I loved it for two reasons; for how utterly crazy Bronson was depicted, and how disciplined Bronson was to be the best "bad" guy in the world, and be famous for it.

If only everyone had that kind of motivation.

It's one of those movies that is definitely a role that I don't know if Tom Hardy will ever be able to top, but it's not a comfortable movie to watch. In that aspect, it's like A Clockwork Orange for me. I don't even know if I'd want to watch Bronson again but I do think it will be considered a classic at some point.

I don't think he could ever top that performance, and I'd agree with the "clockwork orange" feel. It's definitely a strange movie.

My ideal weight is probably about 190, and about 10-15% bodyfat. I'm 6'1" 215 though weigh in isn't until Monday. Ordering my calipers today or tomorrow, but with measurements I think I was at 22%. My hips really screw with those measurements though. I have child birthing hip bones. Haha. I don't see any way I ever go below a 34" waist and not look anorexic. Which is definitely not my goal.

I know this feel man.

I am lucky to have almost freakishly wide shoulders though. It really helps to offset the wide hips.

I'm pretty low @ 5'5" so I think it would be unappealing if I was too broad. I'm a month away from my ideal weight at 68KG ~ 149lbs. I'm guessing I will be around 11% body fat at that point (now I'm 71KG or slightly below, I'm guessing 14-15% body fat).
Maybe 65KG ~ 143lbs is my ideal weight but too early to tell.

I'm 5'11 and 192 right now, if I had to guess I'd say about 14-15% bf. I'd like to be 200lbs and 8-9% bf.

I've got 2 weeks left on my cut, i'd like to get to about 188 and then start bulking up again, rinse repeat a few times and I should be pretty close to my goal.

I'm at 170lbs 5'9 right now, with 10% or so BF.

ideally I'd like to hit about 180lbs, with 7% or so, but we all know once you hit those goals, you always want more. that's my goal for the next year though.

My shoulders are pretty wide, I guess. I'll post pictures in another couple months when I think I have some valid results to show.

That's how I feel. I've set goals for the relative short term, but I know I'm going to want to go further when I hit those, and I'm okay with that.

5'8 182 pounds. Not sure on BF. the handheld thing puts me at 14-16% when I've used it, but I know it's not accurate.

Original goal was to drop down to 170 pounds, but as I stated a couple pages back, I need to just build some muscle by lifting some heavy weights. Jumped into a cut too soon, I should focus on a beginner program for a year before experimenting with technical stuff.

So I guess that's my goal. Eat sensibly but see how much strength I can gain my February or so.

I always like to have goals for say, a year out, or a few years out, but then constant short term goals along the way. right now my short term goal is to make it through this cycle of 5/3/1 BBB, and to not halfass my ab work like I did all through the last year. my lower abs have definitely suffered for it, and I want that shit back on track. I don't need crazy short term goals though, as I'm very much someone who is able to focus on the long-term.

SeanR, I'm really glad to see you hitting the beginner program without the focus on cutting. I think you're going to see great results my friend.

My goals are eight uninterrupted progressive waves of 5/3/1 and 15-20lbs of mass by Spring. The Angry Bear Viking Overlord Transformation. I'm just shy of six feet tall and 170ish pounds. Then I'll cut and look something like this:

Thanks man. Plus, it's more fun to see the linear progress!

On another note, my gym is doing an Olympic event. The guy at the counter handed me the squat and deadlift sign up sheets without me asking. I guess it's a semi compliment he's noticed but I told him I'm really no where near an impressive weight. He told me it doesn't matter anyway and signed me up. I think I work during the event anyway but we'll see.

Like 235-240 @ 15% bf.

I feel like I'm pretty much at my ideal as far as everyone else is concerned, 5'9 176-180 @ <10%.

But my ideal is changing. I think I wanna get bigger, maybe 190ish at 10%, or even 200 if I could somehow manage it. But I think I'm at that breaking point of being "too big" already.

Being built similar to Patrick Willis is my goal since we're the same height.

I'm going to go on a bulk in November, starting weight will probably be 215-220lbs, goal weight will be 240lbs.

no such thing!

But, I don't follow what you mean by 'too big'. Do you feel that way or is that what others are saying? I thought I remember you saying that you felt small?

Agree. I like to do a couple milestone goals a year, but I think it's important to have a big goal every week like setting a PR on a conditioning workout or specific lift. If you're hitting your goals week over week, you'll stay consistent and eventually hit your long term goal.

I read a great book called 10 Minute Toughness where I learned to focus on making sure I improve something specific with every workout. Since then, I've been able to point out something I learned or did better every single day. Highly recommended but it gets a little wordy.
-------------
Just finished one of the toughest workouts I've ever done.

25 jumprope
20 battlerope slams
2 Turkish get-ups (35# kettlebell)
50 ab twists (KB) (FFFUUUUUUUUUU)
50 mountain climbers
10 halos (KB)
10 5 second cadence sumo deadlifts (KB)
2 TGUs (KB)
25 ab twists (KB)
25 jump rope
20 max effort battlerope slams

3 rounds for time. No rest between exercises and ~3 minutes of rest between rounds.

Lifting day tomorrow, hiking for time the next day.

Anyone else doing functional movement/kettlebell stuff? Sprints?

no such thing!

Oh yeah, I meant by what others consider to be too big. I feel tiny myself, lol. Not that any of that should matter to me and my own goals, but I still think about it.

I'm currently 5'7 158, but my bf % is probably like 14-15 right now. I'm cutting to try and get down to 10% bf which will probably bring my weight down to the 145 area .But in time, I'd like to get my weight back to where it is right now at about 10% body fat. Sure it be cool to have even less body fat, but I don't think I want to try and maintain something very low like 5-7. But anyways that's what I want, some size and good definition. Maybe if I ever reach my goals my mind will change, but that's what I have in mind right now.

I've decided to go on a ~10 day fast. I've heard some fasts that have some soup etc to the extent of 200 kcal a day, but I'm looking for information on how to fast for 10 days healthily, how to come back from the fast in a healthy way and all such info. I'm looking at it to reset myself, to start off just completely getting off any bad foods and drinks I'm eating, so that those foods and drinks let slip their claw on me, so I can start on good grounds.

I also heard fasting is a great treatment for a whole bunch of diseases - not that I have any that I need to fast for, but it seems the way the body adjusts itself to fasting resets hormonal balances and gives an ideal start to a better food life.

Are you low Carb Cory?

I don't think that's a great idea. I've done a 36 hour fast and could probably do 48 hours. But 10 days is too much.

right now I'm at around 184lbs, I'm 6'1 so I'd like to be about somewhere between 200-220lbs, bodyfat around 10-12%. I'm still gaining weight and I'm starting to get a bit of a stomach so I'm getting a little self conscious. I'm gonna keep gaining though and then sometime in the first half of next year I'll start to cut.

At least once in my life I'd like to have my abs show.

Wait, just not eating for 10 days? I have no idea. I never even heard of such a thing. Why not just start eating better and working out now? There is no need for a fast to "start from 0" of that makes any sense.

currently 200 lbs. 185 would put me just <10% body fat, so I'm shooting for that. I feel small right now though, I'm gonna feel really small at 180-185. I wish my lean body mass was 200, that will take years of training and good eating to reach without dat dere cell tech.

Why not do a LeanGains approach? 48 hour fasts are notably great but 10 days is pretty insane. I vote for a LeanGains approach for a week to see how you feel.

I dipped my toe in that thread. I'm done. Not speaking about it again period. I'm sticking to my guns though, especially when people ask me for help with weight issues.

Yeah, there's some pretty thick people in that thread. It's always like that when weight loss comes up outside this thread.

Yeah I recommend just going Lean Gains for a while and see how you feel in a week or two.

Resetting hormonal balances and preventing disease via fasting sounds dangerously close to pseudoscience, but there's a lot of scientific data behind Lean Gains and it operates on some good principles.

Seems like lots of people in this thread are hovering around 10% BF. DAMN. I'm still over 20% :(
Oh, I'm at like 13-15% right now probably, weigh 190ish, but I haven't had my BF checked. Not really a huge concern for me right now. That was my weight/BF a couple of months ago, that I posted earlier, when I finished cutting.

I did a 48 hour cleanse recently. Felt great.

I've been wanting to do a 2 day fast, but I can barely handle not eating for 8 hours. My metabolism is scary fast and I'm just not build to starve. How did you feel the first day? Second day? Any tips?

This. Seems like total broscience but there's a guy in my office doing LeanGains and he looks incredible. Lots of people use it to break through plateaus. You can also play with moving your feeding window around. Some people work better on a huge refeed from like 8AM to noon. Others from Noon to 4pm. Etc.

Good luck, Brometheus.

I'm on LG. The first day sucked pretty bad. But it's been pretty easy ever since, honestly. I love it. I'm looking forward to weigh in and measurements on Monday. I'm actually fighting the temptation to check right now.

When is your window? I'm dying to try it but it just doesn't work with my work schedule. I do lunches and dinners with clients and my mornings are usually spent in the office. Sad times being in sales.

What body fat % calculator are you guys using? I'm estimating myself at 15%, but I'd like to measure it myself and see what the result is. I see many online, but is there one that is considered the best or most popular to use?

Right guys I like to do a good muscle routine now since I will be lacking off the insane cardio now. I'm at 9 percent body fat and like to build up some muscle everywhere. I am 6'2, 76kg, 30 waist. What's the best plan you would say? I can easily do 3 days at the gym on weights and an extra day on cardio if that helps :)

I've been doing LG for two months now. I do a midday - 8pm window. I'm self employed and work from home, though, so I have the luxury of being able to go to the gym at 1030am and breaking my fast at midday with a huge meal.

There's a ton of other protocols that you can use to make it work around your life. Martin goes through them all here - http://www.leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html

My eating window is from 12 PM-8PM. Obviously my 16 hours is outside of that. Something like that could work for you. You'd basically skip "breakfast" and just starting eating at most people's normal lunch time. Which is why it feels pretty easy for me. Hardest part is that if you happen to be out around the cutoff time at the end of the day and you want to eat something before that window closes and you forgot a protein bar or something quick. Though if you screw up and eat outside of that every once in a while, it's not a big deal, you just get right back on it the next day.

I don't think that's a great idea. I've done a 36 hour fast and could probably do 48 hours. But 10 days is too much.

There have been a lot of extensive research on fasting as a treatment, a lot in Russia, that couldn't pass the iron curtain during the cold war, and now there are fasting facilities in Germany.

The thing is that the first 72 hours become increasingly tough, and there's no denying that third day will be hard, but after that, studies have showed that patients feel a sense of inner peace. It's said to remove toxicities in the body, while resetting the hormonal response system. The whole thing has been proven to help various inflammatory diseases, a long with a wide array of psychological, and it has been proven to make patients going through chemo to feel much better, because it changes the exo-genes of cells to go into 'protective mode' and preserving the body. The surprising thing is that the opposite happens for cancer cells, so they're also more susceptible to chemo. Thought, that's not why I want to do it. I just think it's interesting, and I want to do it.

I guess there's no one here that's touched on it, so I'll cruise onto the web, and I'll report back with both my finding and my results.

I would like to get to 175, reducing body fat to bellow 10% (9 would be already great for me), eliminating my belly and developing some lean muscle.

I don´t want to get huge, i don´t think it´s very pretty, so basically i can say that i´m trying to get Men´s Health cover type of body.

Please do. I've been intermittently fasting (LeanGains, Cheat Mode, even the Warrior Diet) for two plus years, but long-term fasting hasn't ever been a primary focus for me. As it is many of my friends and relatives construe my lifestyle of fasting for 16-24 hours at a time on a regular basis to be extreme, whereas I would posit that staying in a fed state for every waking hour is far more extreme and rather unprecedented in human history at this level. My middle way is their extreme, and vice versa.

Fasting for longer is certainly not an immediate craving I have, though knowing what it is to be truly hungry could be a valuable experience. Despite my time fasting I've never experienced true hunger; rather, I've experienced cravings brought about by culturally-reinforced hormonal responses.

As a consequence of this misunderstanding we hear about non-diabetics bitching about their insulin dropping after three hours without food.
