Guys I need some help please.

2 weeks ago I started going to the GYM, I have a trainer and I am doing circuit training to wake up my body( I used to be in decent shap 3 years ago). I am at 260 lbs I am 6'1, I do not have a hanging stomach or anything however, last week I made MAJOR changes to my diet.

This week, I upped the protein a lot and I supplement 3 Sustain-release low card protein shakes. 30 g per time.

The first week my work outs were getting better by the day, however this week they went and to worst.

Today on the 4 th day (3rd circuit, I did 35 min cardio on Wednesday) I gave up after 25 minutes, I was fatigued, exhausted and depressed.

I am trying to loose weight, I cut out crap food al together however today is pretty depressing I DO NOT KNOW what happened all of a sudden, the workout was at 1 and before that I got up at 7 and till getting to the gym I had about 3 liters of water a protein bar.

99% sure there is something wrong with your diet. Please be more specific. Are you low carb/keto? If it fits your macros? Primal?

Yes I am trying to transition toward keto.

Last time I tried it and it was wonderful. However I put a towel on my head and told my trainer I am done. My heart was beating and I had cramps in the stomach for the first time.

I was furious, frustrated and I did not want to go back to the gym.

But I am asking for help.

You might want to increase your carb intake. Sounds like you might be depleted, and is one reason why I'm not a fan of intense long-term keto diets.

since I got up, up until 12:30 I had easily taken 2.5+ Liters... easily

I want to loose weight but I do not want to deal with depressing shit like this.

Should I give up Keto/High Fat and do something else ?

You have a bad day/workout once in a while.. it's normal. It's no reason to say eff it and give up your entire routine.

I don't know much about diets. I stick to eating healthier and in portion sizes that are sensible. Likewise I stick to routines I can maintain because frustration is easy to give in to. If you can't stick with a diet/routine you're going to give up and that wont help you reach your goals.

I don't know what your routine is but maybe you should develop your routine so that its challenging but not impossible to do each week. Then maybe work on specializing your diet. Maybe you're doing too much too soon? I'm no rocket surgeon but that was what I had to do starting out.

Did legs today for the first time in a couple weeks, since my knees were bothering me. Went light weight, high reps.

10 minutes bike
Stretch
Leg press
Leg extension
Seated hamstring curls.

Wanted to do more but I had to get ready for work. Felt ok though, not great. By the end I felt real good. Next time I might incorporate some light squats depending on how I feel.

This is a fine response. I appreciate all your points. I can say though that I do chuckle that people think 1000 cal diets are low. The difference, for me at least, between a 1500 or 1000 diet is a protein shake. I was at negative calories and still running endlessly for a portion of my training, but at this point I'm willing to concede this was a personal anomaly.

In regards to muscle mass and my weight, I started my training at about 90kg while bodybuilding. 69kg was my weight when I ran my first marathon after about 7 months of training, but I had achieved sub 75 by the 4th month, which was December if I recall correctly. I can't provide much proof other than photo comparisons but I wasn't into recording progress back then, not that I'd bother posting them anyway. =P

Again, one poster tried a very textbook style of weightloss for 3 months and didn't like the results. The only thing I'm suggesting to him, based solely off personal experiences, is cut down a bit more energy and up the cardio. He's not a giant bodybuilder risking massive muscle loss, nor is he a frail skeleton who'd diet with any less sustenance and any more exercise. He just wants to lose a few extra lbs.

You sound like a genetic anomaly, but I'm glad your diet worked all the same since what works is what matters, not broscience or textbook knowledge.

I'm so not.. I'm really not.. my metabolism is awful. I think some of it might have to do with the quality of food I had available to me. I was in a rural town in Asia with pretty much all natural, chemical-free farm grown food and fresh fish around me. I'd like to try it again and see if I can reproduce the results, but being a bit older I'm not sure how my body will take it. But just a fun tidbit, I had less than 1k cals today and am still alive. =P

edit: just saw wufei's pic in the other thread, good stuff. though I think because of the angle your head looks tiny haha

I have a pretty good feeling you're eating more than 1500 calories a day. There's no way you can sustain yourself while lifting what you're describing.

Describe what you're eating and drinking each day and what your daily routine is like.

What you're seeing here is an example of roid gut. Some more exhibits....

Steroids and other types of growth hormones are incredibly powerful, potent, and guaranteed to get you to your goals. They will also, thoroughly, fuck your shit up if done improperly. While you might think "fuckin' a, they look terrible," what you're not realizing is the goal of bodybuilding in modern times.

Simply put, the goal is to get as big as possible, in as many places as possible, as symmetrically as possible. Gone are the days of gods like Arnold where the goal was a large physique, with a bit of chemical help, in order to look like a living statue. Now a days, if you're a heavy weight, you're on three to four chems every 8-12 weeks for a stack and all you care about is getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

Or, you try to be a fitness model and advertise some sort of fat burner and not get roid gut! But, those guys use injectables, too. However, that's a story for a different day.

WTF those Ronnie pictures can't be real. I've seen all his DVDs and tons of photos and I've never seen a gut like that on him lol.

I have some quick questions: Are you supposed to take creatine on rest days? Is it best to take it earlier in the day or whenever (I'm asusming it's best to take it before a workout on days you lift, so this is also in regards to rest days)?

5g with lunch everyday and 5g post-workout is a good way to do it.

IIRC the gut comes specifically from HGH and insulin abuse, right? And Arnold used more than a bit of chemical help, lol.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but...
I never in my life had a professional massage or whatever-terapy and I was wondering if one of the usual ones have it as part of the procedure to shave hair from your back/shoulders? As a single guy atm I can only reach certain areas. It's not very visible/dark but I saw a mirror reflection of myself while out in the sun today and I noticed my shoulders especially had some long hairs to them that the sunlight highlighted.

It's up to you and your body. Everyone handles things a little different. I was on keto for 9 months and lost 80 lbs. Super strict 20g or less carbs per day. 36 hour carbup ever 2 or 3 weeks when I absolutely needed it.

I had no problem lifting and during that time my compound lifts went up weekly other than the 3 times or so I deloaded. Your body may handle it differently.

In fact I started keto again today cuz I have like 30 more lbs to lose to be at around 12% or so. High carb wasn't working for me and honestly I feel better on keto.

just got back from my hardest workout ever.. I did 16 sets of squats. I tried doing deadlifts right after, and could only manage 3 reps of my working set before I wanted to puke. X_x

Arnold never looked burned and no roid gut and looked vastly superior. :/

Going to the gym when your head aches, your nose is running and your throat is sore - ok or not? I don't really feel THAT bad, and could probably do a halfway decent workout. But I'm going on a business trip on Friday and want to be recovered by then if possible, so I'm afraid working out today will hinder the recovery or make me sicker.

If you are actually sick, you would be being a bit of a dick going to a gym and spreading whatever you have.

I'm not on any specific diet now, I just came off a bulk and am messin around with a "cut". Yesterday I just didn't eat much and it was a busy day. I usually don't eat till about 1-2pm so I fit in a meal or two before I go to bed. Yesterday was just a salad (mixed greens cucumbers, and olives) and a handful of cranberries, water and a glass of acai juice. Trust me, it was below 1k. =P Doesn't really affect my workouts at all. Obviously I'm not putting up new prs every session but of course I'm not trying to. Just doin my normal cardio and then I'm about to be on my third week of 5/3/1 (was just trying it out, won't be continuing to cycle 2). I haven't "described" anything of my routine though, so maybe you're confusing me with another poster. Shrug..food just isn't that important for my energy levels. Sleep though, I swear if I sleep anything less than 6 hours I have a headache all day and am in no mood to workout. In bed by 10 is the only rule I abide by nowadays.

can someone recommend me a good workout:

Age: 26
Height: 5-11
Weight: 180
Goal: build strength
Current Training Schedule: available weekdays after work, and mornings on weekends
Current Training Equipment Available: joined a gym
Comments: i have been going to the gym for the past month but really want to improve my routine to get ready for hockey season (play goalie, casual play). never really worked out with this in mind. i also seem to have weaker then normal knees (recurring injuries)

Any truth to that long runs counteracts the building of a visible sixpack? As in, it flattens your core? Obviously it helps with fet percentage.

So, I'm 14. Only a teen, would weight-lifting be all right for me? I'm interested in it, I already play sports every other day, I just want to be able to raise my metabolism and have some muscle to show off when I've completed my fat loss. I've done it for two months now, and although puberty has already given me a better, more masculine body shape the fat loss and lifting have enhanced it. I just want to know if there are any long-term consequences for a teenager.

No idea but in my experience the people i know who do a lot of running (mostly HIIT) this doesn't seem to be an issue. I don't see why that would happen.

Holy fuck my abs are sore. I don't know if it was all the front squats, the hang cleans or both, squats have never made my abs this sore. Just notices my back/traps are substantially sore too. Guess I'll be doing that again.

Thermite got me into 5/3/1. Stoked to start it on Monday.

Thermite works out? I guess not all of HaloGAF is nerds eh?

As long as you don't use shitty form and injure your self, you should be fine.

But if you already do so many sports I would rest instead of weight lift on the other days. Constant exercise all day every day can have a negative impact.

Just remember that bad form can screw you up for life so take it easy and be careful.

I always take it pretty slow, my form is pretty good (I learn the techniques from exrx.net) and I don't do a lot of advanced stuff- just squats, bench press, and the occasional deadlift. I actually plan to go to the gym on the same days I have sports, so I can have the rest I need. It's nice to know my growth wouldn't become affected- as long as I don't overdo it. The highest weight I've gone is 45 lbs, with the bar itself just being 15 pounds.

For a 14 year old you communicate well and use good grammar. I'm more impressed with that.

As for working out, hang out around here and get some advice. If I was 14 again I'd love to know what I and we as a community know now.

You should read as much lifting literature as you can find too.

Also, don't listen to a single thing about lifting from anyone your age, none of them, and take what anyone else older than you says with a giant grain of salt. Always double check what you're being told against other more credible sources, that includes what any sport coach may tell you.
