From my POV this "natural" peanut butter stuff seems like it could be nothing more than another health food cash in. Do you though, no one is trying to make you do otherwise.

Around me natural PB is cheaper than regular PB, so I doubt it's a "cash in" of any kind.

(I get mine from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, and the prices are compared to regular PB at Kroger or Food Lion)

I think you mentioned the stuff you bought was way more expensive, so you might want to shop around if that's really the case and you're interested in going with natural over the regular stuff. I think it tastes better as well, but that's subjective obviously.

Anyone who did starting strength or something similar, how well did your bench press progress?

I'm two months in and I've moved from just the bar (20kg) to 45kg total. I think my form is poor and I can't quite finish the last rep of the last set without a spotter. This and OHP are the two weakest lifts in the routine.

I am eating well. Deadlift is at 87.5kg now, deloaded squats to 50kg (from 55) get better form. (61~kg, 5' 4")

Bench and OHP are much harder to progress with than squat and DL imo so that sounds pretty normal. I wouldn't stress it, just keep working at it. Maybe watch the "So you think you know how to bench" youtube videos. Those are very helpful if you think your form is off.

With my recent injuries and focus on triathlons, I have revamped my training yet again. I'm doing a M/W/F split now; Shoulders on M, Back and Biceps on W, and Chest and Triceps on Friday. I do 3-5 exercises per session for at least 10 reps. No more squats and deadlifts for me for sometime. They were really interfering with my ability to run and bike which I need to focus on.

During the winter, I will bring squats and deadlifts back into it when it's too cold to run or bike.

Couple questions- When should I do core work?

Also, can you guys post your fitocracy names so we can compete?

Got my bench up to 154lbs/70kg x 5 on saturday which is fucking awesome since 70kg is a good benchmark and I've been stuck at ~60kg for ages.

And today I got my press up to 110lbs/50kg x 5 which is also fucking awesome since I had been stuck at 45kg for ages but not any more. Sadly got only 5,4,4 reps so it's deload time with Greyskull LP.

Finally making some progress!

I'm having trouble understanding how to use it. I did a work out today and wanted to save it as a routine but it reversed the order of the exercises, putting the last one on top.

I have never bothered to use the routine system. More of a pain than its worth to me. I just log stuff on my phone during my workout as I go.

The exercises show in reverse order in the routine page. The one you did first is at the bottom and the newest is at the top. I guess the reason is that it's easier to log new reps when you don't have to scroll down.

Do fourteen year olds even know what a compound sentence even is?

In logic, isn't it when sentences are joined by connectives (conjunction, biconditional), and in English, two independent clauses joined together?

Why do you ask?

Also, how does one get rid of deep stretch marks on the arms? Any home remedies?

Did wide front squats today seriously for the first time. Noticed how stiff my wrists are, I really need to work on wrist flexibility. However all in all, they felt good. I was able to target my outer legs really well.

First day at my new gym and it's awesome. They basically have the whole floor separated into 3 areas: Machine Work/Free Weights/Cardio. I really like this setup.

I've been using a smith machine at my old gym for as long as I can remember for bench press, and I've made incredible progress on it, my highest being 4 reps @ 315 lbs. I'm going to try and go without it now, though. I took it easy today, but I got up to 5 reps @ 225lbs on the free weight bench.

I picked one of these up after Greg Everett recommended it. I haven't tried other belts, but I really like it a lot. Plus, the price is great.

5 sets of 235x10 for some BBB bench press assistance after knocking out 205x5 for my final set for OHP? Yuuuuup.

My chest/tris is getting strong again!

You don't really get rid of them, you embrace them.

At a young age you might be able to make some progress with various oils and such. Other posters will be able to help far more than I can.

I hate you. You're damn BBB is higher than my 1rm on bench. Fuck my stupid clavicle!

Home gym > commercial gym

No wait times, easy access to food and complete privacy.

I'm not sure if it was off but I had some whey that made me feel pretty sick. I didn't throw up or anything but it was disgusting. You'll know after a sip or two if it's bad.
I'm inclined to agree, still too early but so far it has been awesome. Just finished my workout.

From the gym I'm only missing the lat pulldown machine, because I'm still not strong enough to do proper pull ups. But I'll do negative pull ups until then. And god damn deadlifts.

Tried the whey, seemed okay :)

I'm not talking about 1 rep max. I want to rep out at least 5 @ 405.

I did 345 10 times with ease last week, but my grip started giving out after like 4.

That makes more sense. Your original post made it seem like you were "going for" 405 like it was a 1rm.

(Also, PR can be rep maxes, they aren't just 1rm).

Was finishing my workout with some bicep curls today and noticed a vein starting to pop out of my right bicep. Might not seem like a big deal but to a guy who has been obese for the vast majority of his life it was a pretty cool moment. Also restored faith that I'm bulking correctly. It's been exactly 4 weeks on this bulk and today I take some photos to compare to photos from 4 weeks ago. Hoping to see at least a minor difference. If not, no biggy, I know I'm at least getting stronger in the gym.

Bumping my own post from the last page.

Might as well fish for some opinions here.

Age: 26
Height: 6'
Weight: 197
Goal: Bulk
Type: Endomorph
Equip: Meh... the gym in my building has DBs to 70, some plate-loaded bench machines, a smith machine, and then your standard array of cables and nautilus machines. No freeweight barbells, no access to them. Hell, I don't even have an EZ bar. I make do.

Recent History:
- I did a bulk phase from 1/1/12 to 4/16, going from about 192 pounds up to 207. My routine was a modified version of the DY Blood & Guts routine, as I always liked the one set failure principle. I plateaued HARD around the middle of March on all lifts.

- 6/1 to 8/15 I did a cut, using a routine developed by a trainer friend, that mixed in the "elevate heart rate at all times" CrossFit idea into more traditional lifting (with more bodyweight stuff). Threw in some cardio, some supplementation, etc. I dropped from about 207 at the start of the cut (spend a month transitioning) to the 197 I am now.

- I took two weeks off for recuperation, and am going to spend the rest of September transitioning back into heavy lifting.

So, the question after all the above rambling: any ideas on routines for bulking, beyond me defaulting back to the Yates failure routine? I'm limited by equipment and I'm not very creative.

My friend "I just joined planet fitness and I'm ready to do that strong lifts program"

Uh oh.

Why uh oh?

I would guess it's because that company thinks weightlifting is comedy.

I did the same. Although I'm not anywhere near "strong" it felt good to challenge my body in a new way. I liked em!

I was wondering how you were gonna manage with triathlon training and 4x week 531. That sounded like you weren't gonna have adequate recovery time, unless all I did was train, rest and eat.

I'd do core after before Biking and Swimming.

I have a bunch of co-workers who use to go to Planet Fitness but they all stopped because they were dissatisfied with the place or had problems with something else there. I actually signed up there last year but stopped going after less than a month. It was because I got lazy and quit dieting/working out. But when I was there it was always jam packed with people and like you guys mentioned, didn't seem to have enough free weight equipment. Each station was full and it was hard to get a hold of anything, whether that was a bench or a certain dumb bell that I wanted. The bench press and bicep curl was definitely off limits as those were being hogged by groups of guys who would take forever to finish their sets. Not a fun experience to say the least.

What's this pizza day stuff? They give you pizza at the gym?

I love my 24 hour fitness. It's a big commercial gym chain too, but it's not as well known as LA Fitness (even though they're supposedly buying them out) so it never gets as crowded, and actually has nicer equipment than LA, more free weights and I love the fact that I can go in the middle of the night when there's almost no one there, and have all the weights to myself. The only thing that sucks is that they have a total of two 2.5 lbs plates, and I can never find them. I know they're there, but it's like someone purposely hides them from me.

Can anyone tell me why I have just flat out stopped losing any weight? For 3 months I lost 30lbs without any major workout and just healthy diet.

Then I started biking, just lost a couple more pounds and stopped. Then I hit the gym and for a month now I've been going up and down about 5lbs and just can't figure it out. Only thing I can think of is lack protein and carbs so I've tried to improve those in my diet but its pissing me off that I'm not loosing anything.

Workout routine is usually 45min of weights and 20 min of cardio.
