Thanks. My gym requires that we wear shoes at all times. I've been warned multiple times not to squat in running shoes lol. I will get some chuck taylor's really soon. As for the lumbar flexion, what should I do to prevent that?

Sorry if the deadlift video is unclear, I'll try taking another one next week. And yea, I did notice that I'm rounding my upper back a lot.

Also, I am actually letting the bar touching my chest every time but maybe it doesnt show very well in the video.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the comments. :)

Re-do the the bench video, can't see the position of your hands or arms. Can't see anything really.

Personally, I think you should squat a little lower, but thats just me, ass to grass.

Yeah I think I need to get into genuine fat pants soon. I have the super relaxed fit Levis and they're pretty tight when I'm sitting down.

Yeah. Thighs so tight I can't fit my keys :/

I've eased up on leg training after jumping back into lifting in the past 16 months because of this. My upper legs grow crazy fast, so in college, I'd go heavy and hard on leg day because everyone enjoys working out the muscle group that responds the best. That was 5 years ago (fuck I'm old). It still impacts my pants purchases today.

EDIT: fixed because lol calves...

That's damn impressive.

Thanks!

Daaaaaang, falling. Impressive.

Next op should include all the regulars before and afters. :)

Thank you and I agree.

It's super impressive.

I'm not giving up!

Neither am I! That is my end game and hopefully I can reach that. Don't care if he was on gear or not. I will get there.

On an opposite viewpoint, I feel that if you hit parallel, then you are good to go. Of course, if you can go ATG, do it up.

I just need to buy 2 sizes up, wear a belt and be done with it.

What sucks is buying up and then losing the fat. Then you are stuck with pants and when wearing a belt, you get bacon waist which I hate.

I hate to think about having to give up squatting permanently already since I'm so young, especially since it's such an incredible exercise.

I actually have a standing desk at work, which has helped with my recovery and back pain quite a bit.
I didn't want to give up squats and would do them occasionally but since my back started to hurt after each time, I now associate it with pain and have no desire. I mean if i see someone squatting nice it makes me wish I could, but otherwise I don't care. But maybe you'll have better luck since you're young.

I really want a standing desk, but my office is very conformist; everything is supposed to look the same. I stand when I'm on the phone or reading.

short short revolution this summer. Who's in?

I want to know where I can buy a pair like these. Anyone?

The guy from 70's Big always makes me feel pathetic. I don't think I'm ever going to cut.

I think if I can cut down to his bf%, that would be perfect. He looks to be what? 13/14%? Maybe a bit less? A bit lean but still look strong and built which is what I want to do.

And dood, you look great. I am jealous of your physique.

So which one would you guys pick? Do recommend if there are other stuff that's better. I don't to take supplements but I feel like my body isn't getting enough protein per day. So will have to go with Whey I guess.

I will choose the flavors depending on what they have it in store. So, the question is just for the brand or the type of product.

You're too kind. I don't think I'll be satisfied until I look like Roman Reigns.

I dont use it much anymore but I always go with Optimum Nutrition Strawberry. Now I tend to have a half scoop of it post workout with a tall glass of milk.

Okay. Well they both have very similar nutritional facts but for some reason ON is at least $20 more expensive for a 5lbs container. I was wondering if it made any difference.

On another note, may I know why you stopped taking it?

Are we still progress picing? So my goal was to bulk up over the winter in an attempt to keep some more muscle on my body during summer trail running season. Here I'm up to 168 (at 5'7") from 155. I was hoping for 175 by March or April, but I seem to have kinda stalled out around 168 for a month or so. I know the solution (eat more, run less) but I just love running too much and as an ex-wrestler I just don't seem to have the heart to eat the food required for a dirty bulk. On the plus side, my work has really helped with this bulk, we have free drinks in the office, which includes milk cartons so while I'm not full GOMAD I'm up to at least a half gallon a day for free. So not totally where I want to be, but I'm still pretty happy with where I'm at, especially as I've done this without a gym at all.

A couple progress shots of 2012 in review. Unfortunately the initial pose was stupid, and for consistency's sake, I had to continue on.

January 2012, start = 192

April 2012, end of bulk = 207 (also after week at all-you-can-eat resort in Mexico... oh god)

July 2012, end of six week cut = 199 (plus summertime tan)

December 2012, end of bulk 2.0 = 210 (dat tan gone)

One day I'll tackle that pudge at my navel. I've had that for forever, and I've never been a fat guy. When I was thin, I had it. When I was skinnyfat, I had it. When I was a little overweight, I had it. When I started lifting, I had it. When I went on a ridiculous abs-searching cut and I slimmed down to 155 (no joke), still had it.

you look nothing like your av. grow a beard.

fantastico progress regardless.

Thanks man. I had to comb through my phone for them. I wish I had kept progress pics dating back to when I first started lifting in 2006 in college. It's amazing to see the comparisons because it's hard to comprehend it yourself with a daily mirror glance.

My beard growing ability is balls, as you can see in the first pic. I can't connect the stache and the beard, and it grows in all scraggly and I look like someone you don't want children around.

Avatar is a reminder: what would Steve do?

You guys and your facial hair... makes me jelly.

Should I bulk up to 80kg at 5' 4''? Currently hovering around 72kg.

Does anyone have any idea about how bad BCAA is for your teeth? Is it acidic enough to be concerned about like it is with soda?

I'd be interested to try it as a PWO instead of whey but if it is a risk for my teeth I'll skip.

Wait, they go up to triple!!!

If you're willing to pay. For triple with guacamole it's like 15 dollars. not really a good protein per cost ratio but you gotta do what you gotta do. I used to eat there after every lift for 15 dollars. I just hate cooking and don't have much time for it :(

The amount of information and arguments are out there are really stunning. Even the cereal threads range from "high fiber is good" to "cereal is the devil, eat eggs and bacon every day!". You never know what's right or what's wrong, and everyone's body is different, and it can be a bit confusing.

Wait, they go up to triple!!!

If they have the ingredients, they'll make it for you. It doesn't have to be on the menu (so nachos, quesadillas, etc are all fair-game). You pay extra for guacamole or for extra meat, but the other toppings are free (within reason).

It's just the level which people consider "good". High fiber cereal is good compared to Lucky Charms, but on the scale of "good" it ranks pretty low. Everyone has different standards. Most of us here have much higher standards for "good" nutrition and such than your average Joe.

Is Fiber One cereal better than Lucky Charms? Absolutely.

But a broccoli and cheese omelette with bacon kicks the crap out of either.

Following the 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass ratio requires tons of protein. Anyone else having trouble getting that in. Not in terms of availability, but in terms of hunger. Eating that much protein leaves me really full.

I never really have an issue. Chicken/Beef a couple times a day, eggs in the morning, milk, and I'm just about there.

Then again the research posed here awhile back seemed to indicate that like .6-.8 per LB of body mass was plenty.

If you are bulking then you don't really have to get exactly that 1g. A little less is just as fine but aim for at least 0.8g/lbs.

Muscle Maker Grill in New Jersey (of course we'd invent this chain) was great post-workout food, especially if there was a special deal on just getting wraps for like $4-5. Wish I had one near me in NYC, though I do get to eat it for lunch at work everyday.

Ill consider it, but I kind of like the whole phrase written out.

Found it, and it's much cheaper too.
