Woke up this morning with minor pain, already took ibuprofen and iced it and it already feels a ton better. I think I'll be good to go for lifting next week while avoiding dl/squat I'll just do assistance on that day, but I think I'll be good to go to resume cardio tomorrow. Also I'm going to start that 2x a week routine next week.

Edit: Also weighed in at 232 this morning. Cut is definitely working.

Great workout today...I was sleepy when I went in this morning and not in the mood to work out. Squats changed that. Hit a new high today (don't laugh), 185 x 3. New OHP of 95 x 6.

Total adrenaline high at the gym today, was great.

I wore a fairly thin tshirt to workout this morning and I did a few calf raises (machine). Not sure if thats the cause but I my shoulders are all splotchy with deep red marks. It looks like I have internal bleeding in my shoulders. Its pretty gnarly.

I get the exact same thing. I wish I knew how to stop them--I tried putting on TWO towels on my shoulders and still look like a tiger landed on me.

So I take about 15 second breaks inbetween sets. Is that too short/long?

jaxword, what was your previous avatar? I don't like avatar changes!

It will probably affect your next set as you haven't had a chance to rest, but you gain the benefit of really keeping up your heartrate if you're cutting.

It's amazing how many people have elaborate reasons for being a fat tub of shit.

And how people rationalize to make themselves feel better about themselves. In their eyes, being fit = uneducated, no job, meathead dudebro jocks. Whatever helps them sleep at night.

This guy just posted about how he got a personal trainer and his body HURT SO BAD after the gym he gave up. And he refuses to stop eating chips and drinking sodas. And everyone's an asshole for telling him to stop.

Healthiest way to cook eggs?

Boil them.

Go to the beach. It's only summer once a year. (Then go to the gym at night.)

I cannot wait for August, South Carolina is going to be glorious.

Everything is societies fault, people don't "really" make their own decisions. Being fat is a result of everything else making decisions for you. Etc. Etc.

Such bullshit.

Almost, except without the shell.

Oh, I just assumed when they said "boil" they meant without the shell...otherwise known as soft/hard boiling.

Poached eggs are amazing. I think if you put a small amount of vinegar in the boiling water it will help keep the egg more uniform.

Only necessary for eggs that aren't very fresh. Oh, and another trick is to create a whirlpool in the water with a fork before dropping in the egg.

Did 100 squats today in under 15 minutes. 50 reps at 225 ATG and then another 50 front squats at 135. I am so sore right now.

Oh my god, GAF, I think I'm gonna pass out. Here's the workout I did today with a buddy of mine (the one who competed in the Spartan race with me a month ago).

(You should know that it's 90 degrees here. Thankfully not very humid, though.)

So here we go:

Bike 3 miles to playground
Do a quick set of 5 muscle-ups, 10 pull-ups, and 20 dips
Jog 1.5 miles to a huge park (Prospect Park, Brooklyn)
Run from the north to south end, circling the whole park (taking trails and hills and all that, stopping to do muscle-ups every now and then) - about 3 miles total
Jog back to original playground (this is all one continuous run, btw) - 1.5 miles
Do 10 muscle-ups in a row, which I have never ever done before... almost zero swinging, too
Ride 3 miles back home

Total time: 3 hours

I'm not sure how I'm still able to even type right now. But I'm so fucking psyched. 10 muscle-ups in a row, baby. Chest was going well over the bar, too, so I felt like I was flying; I don't think it touched until the last couple of reps, which I had to power through because I was so exhausted.

And then I devoured some Nutella when I got home because I'm poor and that's all I have. :p

So something really weird has been going on since I started this cut; at night I sweat like crazy, like I pissed the bed crazy. I'll get up to go take a leak or get some water and when inlay back down the sheet is soaked. Anyone else experience something like this? I haven't had this happen since I first got out of the Army and was having serious PTSD issues.

I don't think it's that though, since I don't think I'm having nightmares, has me a bit concerned.

How low carb are you going? Give me total calories per day and what percentage of that is carbs.

Low carb diets (like sub 20-30grams) have been known to cause night sweats.

I'm around 1600-1800 calories a day before factoring in exercise, car s I don't know, I do know it's pretty low though I would say 100 or less carbs a day.

Most of those are from milk and protein shakes

Dude you look like a big guy...how much do you weigh now? I'm 6'2 193 and still taking in 1900 cals a day before excercise.

1600 is like on the way low spectrum.

Yeah, I'm cutting (hard) right now, I'd say I range from 1600 to 1900 on any given day so far on this cut. Also I just looked it looks like I'm around 75g a day on carbs.

Example, so far today I've eaten 3 eggs with some strawberries and blue berries (fresh), a protein shake with 18 oz of milk and two scoops of whey. For lunch I had 8 hot wings and I'm about to have another 2 scoop 18oz milk whey shake again. Then tonight I'm having spaghetti pie (healthier than it sounds).

After the shake I'm about to have I'm at 1583 calories, the pie will probably put me at 1900 and a total of 220 grams of protein and around 90-100g carbs.

Edit: Oh, sorry. I weigh 232 right now. Down from 242 when I started watching my diet back in April, and down 2lbs this week since I really tightened it down.

I am 6'2". There is a woman that just started going to my gym that is easily an inch taller than me. She is an amazon. A divine creature. It's super creepy to flirt with girls in the gym but MAN this woman is so tall. It's really turning my gears.

Alright, if you're eating around 75g carbs, that's like 16% of 1900 calories.

Which means the other 84% of your cals are coming from proteins and fats. You could actually probably stand to bring your carbs up a bit if you wanted. I think you mentioned your lifts suffering a little bit as well from fatigue etc.

50%p/30%c/20%f is a great cutting macronutrient ratio. Just make sure most of your carbs are pre and post workout.

Not sure if this will help with the night sweats though.

Thanks for the input. I'm new to this whole cutting thing (actually my first time ever doing it). It's even more strict than when I was a runner. It seems to be working, but yeah my energy did suffer till I got that preworkout. Although I'm going to use that sparingly since it's basically a drug. Also, I edited some more shit in the last post I forgot to mention.

I'm only doing this for the month, then I'm going back to the regular pattern of eating "right" but also being a bit more generous with the portions.

Edit: Also just saw this. I guess this could be what's happening.

Night Sweats
You may sweat more on a low-carbohydrate diet for more than one reason. As your glycogen, or sugar levels deplete, you lose your ability to store water. Each gram of stored glycogen retains 4 g of water. As you must consume as much or more water while dieting than you did before you started your diet, you are going to expel water quickly, and some of this may be via sweating. At night, you may still have ketones to burn, and burning this form of energy can raise your temperature slightly in a rested state. This may also cause a slight increase in sweating at night.

I just don't think you're eating enough for your weight. Your maintenance is probably 2500-2800 cals a day. If you ate 500 calories a day under that and then factor in your workouts you could probably lose a solid 2-2.5 pounds per week.

You need to refigure your BMR and go from there, because at this point I think you're starving yourself.

That's entirely possible, according to this calculator I just looked up I'm at 2164.16. BMR so I'm pretty under (and that's probably without realizing my musculature). I think I'll monitor my calories/carbs closer from here on out.

Edit: then another one tells me this 3755 Calories Per Day

lol.

I've taken a break from the gym due to my wrists.

GAF, they're killing me. After a set of bench press or shoulder presses, my wrists hurt like all hell. I cannot even do push-ups now without them hurting.

Perhaps I need to tone down on doing heavy weights all the time, or use those gloves with the wrist support. I don't think I can sustain this. They're not swollen or anything, but any sort of "push" action I perform with my hands is immediately responded to by a shot of pain.

Any advice or support is gladly appreciated.

I was doing 1700 a day <20g of carbs, 180g of protein pre exercise.

Lost shit, as you know, these two months.

Knocking it down to 1500 starting today and I'll see where I'm at in 2 months.

I'm 215lbs, does that mean I'd have to intake 215 grams of Protein or more? :( I mean my shakes are only 25 g per scoop.

Getting high protein is fairly easy.

Milk, whey, peanut butter, chicken, beef, tuna and salmon are all loaded with protein. A cup of milk has around 7g so if you have cereal/oats that's an easy portion.
