Fitness |OT9|...You looked better before

Dammit. I really liked the gym I tried out today. Awesome opening hours, extremely tidy, ok location, awesome ac and so forth. The bad thing is it is a bit over 1000 euros for a year so maybe not. There was also this other option where the gym wasn't maybe that smashing, but ok and it also has swimming hall, is closer to home and half the price for a year. I don't think the other place is 500 euros nicer than the other one... and yet I am hesitant.

Seriously, how do you decide where you work out?

September 25th in Davie, FL. Gonna watch Cudder's videos for motivation before each lift. That 465 high bar almost pause squat was so impressive man you might have a 500 lb squat low bar.
Oooh, I am expecting to see pics from the event! ;)

Dang it, restaurant week(or month) in NY is killing any attempt at dieting right now.

Yeah, I'm complaining about too much great food.

Well, I haven't posted a video in a while, so I figured I'd change that situation.

What do you guys think? Does my form hold up?

I know that's like junior weight compared to the numbers being thrown around, but I'm going to use every excuse to justify it.

1. First time attempting regular DL in over a month after a lower back injury. I did some stiff legged ones last week.
2. I didn't want to go heavy because I don't want to injure myself again.
3. I need straps because I have nerve damage in both my hands.
4. Vertical video because I couldn't find a decent spot to film a wide shot.
5. I'm going to be 43 in a few months. Be nice to this old man.
My birthday is totally ruining my cut on Saturday - and I don't care. :p

And I can't comment that much about the form, but at least you look damn good (like always).

So I'm moving to a house near Orlando on Sunday a week before I start at UCF, and I just found out my evil, lying, cheating ex-girlfriend works at the school gym.

shit
Ouch.

Ordered a square leg swimsuit for swimming. I was not prepared for how small it is. Ugh... I feel exposed lol. Seriously not sure if I can wear this damn thing.

Edit: TOP OF PAGE?! NOOOOOOOOOO
Well, you are on the top of my page... and I am slightly disappointed since I was waiting to see you in those extremely tiny swimming thingies. I hope you are going to make that right in the future.

Decided that the rehab exercises were a bit boring so I figured why not superset every one with monster / sumo walks...

...halp, man down.
Are you sure you're gonna survive traveling to the USA?

As someone who thinks he has nice legs, I might order a pair of these. :p

I'm burnt out this week. Haven't been myself lately. Going in for a major refeed tomorrow.

So far around 30 down in I think 16 weeks, will see tomorrow. Still don't feel like I'm where I should be BF wise but I'm feeling run down.

I wasn't planning on walking... :p

Funnily enough, a friend of mine invited me to a crossfit gym for whilst I'm there. I'd likely end up with a severed spine by the time I passed the reception desk. Bollocks to that.

Edit - Though I just checked the temperature there at the moment. :O

Pizza and ice cream will solve all your problems.

Hey FitGAF, I think I'm finally done the intense phase of my cut. I'd gotten flabby over christmas and my birthday and other people's birthdays, so I decided I'd go on a diet to end all diets. Or so I hope. Told everyone to buzz off for the better part of 6-8 weeks (although I ended up cheating a couple times due to friends stopping in from out of town). Here's the photos from today cause the gym lighting is generous as always:

http://imgur.com/a/WxGe3

No before photos, sorry. Let's just say the muscles were getting a little blurry. Still a little lower belly flab, but it's not rolling out when I sit down anymore lol. Actually I can barely grab it when I'm sitting. There's also no arm pump since it's leg day. I think the rest is gonna be slow and steady with a pretty minor deficit, and more focus on improving the lifts. Can't be that much more to go right? In regards to stats:

Body weight: 191.2 lbs -> 175.8
Calorie intake: 900-1100 (rest days), 1900-2300 (training days)
Lifts:
Deads - 415x4 -> 415x2 (actually added an extra lower weight set to get more volume in lol)
Squats (High bar) - 335x7 -> 335x5
Bench - 165x8 - 195x7
OHP - 115x8 - 150x7

Hopefully eating closer to maintenance will prevent me from getting tunnel vision and seeing stars right from the get-go on squats and deads.

Very impressive squat and DL numbers for 175 dude. Looking great also.

Amongst like, a million other places we have picked out for cocktails in the nights, we've basically short listed...

Bemelmans Bar
Chefs Club (by Food & Wine)
Craft
PRINT
Churrascaria Plataforma

and lunch at Jean Gorges.

I lived 2 blocks from Plataforma for a while. Go. If you like meat you'll have a good time.

Craft is also excellent. Have not been to the others!

ShadowGeistx, were those bench and press increases recovered strength or new strength? I've been on a long cut, and am curious if your calorie intake method is helpful.

Recovered. I was coming off a rotator cuff injury. My bench was at 205x7 previously, and my press is actually back up to the same, but relying a bit more on the Rippetoe press method than before. I'll definitely work on that when it comes to my building phase coming up.

That said, if you want to actually build strength while cutting...Then this kind of deficit is horrible lol. There's a mental barrier, and a physical one eventually. I'm sure if you increased the calories a bit on resting days and kept the training days close to maintenance, your body will respond favorably. Keep in mind I'm training 3x a week (maybe 4 if I need accessories), I'll post my program if you want.

I stick to about 1500 calories per day, workout or not. Mental barrier isn't there usually if I have a rest day. I actually decided to change to Texas Method this morning and drop down to 3x per week, as it has all of the exercises I already do with very specific programming.

Well, my calories comes out to 1600 on average, so it's not far from yours (not sure about your height/weight). I don't know what your progress is or how long you've been going (I feel like Texas Method is a bit too much work volume for cutting), but if you're actually building strength while losing fat then you're probably doing pretty good.

If you're stalling on both you may want to start cycling calories. The motivation of having more/better food after your training session is a strong one. Also there's probably some scientific physiological benefit articles I could throw on but yeah. It's beneficial for body composition and recovery.

I decided to do a quick check up for you.

Platforma is participating in Restaurant week.

Check out the menu.

Cheers. We actual booked into craft and chefs club for the last day of the restaurants thing. We wanted a bit more in the way of options on the meat from Platforma so we're going Tuesday evening.

Quick question for you or anyone else that might know. Anywhere easy to get to that I can pick up some quest bars / protein foods whilst I'm there? I don't want to be carrying too much out if I can avoid it.

In terms of volume, I'd been running a 5/3/1 scheme for everything besides squats. Never done 5x5 for anything, so we'll see how it goes.

I have set food rewards for my body before, just haven't built it into my programming. I'll ponder on this.

I like this level of calories as weight loss is averaging less than a pound per week, and I've set PRs here and there. It may be unlikely to reattain linear progression before eating bigger, but that's the goal for now.

Barely got through my heavy shoulder/tris day. Man, just completely gassed. I probably need a re-feed but I'm waiting until my birthday on Tuesday to go crazy. Might damn well be 175 by then! Ha

At a party with a newly reduced calorie intake ready for getting fat in new york...

GNC and Vitamin Shoppe are your best bets.

Test day is Tuesday. Then it's back to normal lifting for me....after a trip to New Orleans from Thursday-Sunday lol.

Surprisingly still at 173 and I'm normally eating 2600 calories. I dunno what's going on

Your brain might be using extra calories from studying hard. I don't know if that's been scientifically tested.

Boy this place is a graveyard today.

My bench continues to go to shit as I hover around 180. Barely got 290x3x3 tonight. Actually got a hammy cramp on the first set because of the leg pressure I had to exert. lol

Joined this new gym (had to move city) and the smallest plates are 2kg.

How do I 'progress' with this? This means the smallest jump I can make on my exercises are 4kg each lol.

Everyone's probably running around, getting ready for your birthday tomorrow!

Doing anything fun?

This week is the week that I'll finally start getting to the gym regularly again. No more trips no more birthdays, no more "I can do this later"! Vacations sucks*

What Psycho said.

I keep fractional plates that I bought in my gym bag to use.

Do you carry them with you all around the gym?

Maybe I should just buy a cheap gym bag because I already walk around with my dipping belt.

Can be a pain in the ass to walk with so many things in your hands haha.

Yeah I do, it can be kind of annoying. If I can be bothered I take em back to my gym bag when I don't need them anymore.
