So I'm sorta new to the clan aspect of online gaming. I just accepted the invited, now what? Do we meet up at certain times? Or do I just wait for the 'join active game' option to become available?

Got my invite. Thanks Cagen!

Is there any particular class we need more of? I've got like 15 unlock points I've yet to use. (i'm too indecisive lol)

For those that are new to the Clan, we don't really have a set time that we play at. We usually send out the invites and the ones that accept it get in. About the classes, what i have noticed is that we need mostly tacticians just to cap the spawns at the beginning and then from then on, play the classes you think we need like Eng and Medics. If you are in a clan match and think about your KDR then you probably should not be playing with the clan since objectives are what gives us victories.

Cagen and FFO have clan matches in the afternoon so if you are on you might get lucky and get an invite from the clan leaders.

Lince and AJ run the other clan matches in the nighttime so if they don't have a full party they will send out invites to all the clan members online and trust me not a lot of people accept them.

That is mostly what i know. If you have anymore question ask Cagen or FFO the clan leaders.

Do MORE clan games!!!!!!!!! Seriously. It's like 10000000x times more fun than the random laggy framey shitty game I had before.

Matchmaking sux donkey balls. It's buggy. Plus anything bigger than a 16-player game is unplayable due the poor frame rate and now I can't choose to join smaller games. I've stopped playing warzone games.

Signed up as well.

I won't lie, I don't know all the map super well, but enough to get around. Like, I don't know how to turn off the EMP on turbine, but I know the map layout. Just gotta play more is all.

We usually just ask in the chat room "GAF socialise 24/7" or what ever it's called if anyone wants to join but not everyone is in there. I'll see if I can get people an invite to the chat but my friends list is full ATM so I'll have to decide on someone to remove heh. I think there's a limit to how many people you can have in a chat though so I may make a couple of FTSG chats and put a couple of key people in each and then invite everyone to them to try organise things.

The old system was SO much better for clan matches, we could decide who was playing and rotate people in and out of the squads to make it fair, choose the god damn map and have time to sort out tactics. Now it's all just too random and haphazard.

Remember though that anyone can start the clan game match making so if you are wanting a game try sending a few invites and/or PSN messages to clan members online if they want to join, get a squad going and play. The only thing with this is, you have to have a full squad to stop the opposition outnumbering you and putting yourself at a disadvantage right from the get go, which could be quite hard if we already have a full squad playing other clan matches and a few people playing in public rooms. That being said we have around 80 members who have accepted their invites, so there should be people to play with or I'm going to have to start removing inactive members to send out invites to people waiting (not that I can find out who is inactive with the terrible clan options we have, FTSG).

After last nights clan matches, the only valid tactic is for the whole team to go tactician the whole game.

TSPs are fucking terrible.

WE won everything except 2 games against 1080. Super heavy lag for us Euros in that game :/ Watched 4 guys in our team unload their guns into one guy, only to turn round and kill rick before the game caught up with him and told him he was dead.

Those 1080 matches were a slaughter. Two of us got the jump on a guy, both unloaded on him, he stops, turns around, hoses us both >.>

And yes, going tactician seems to be safest route. To start, on some maps, I think infiltrator or two should sprint to TSPs to set up c4 and defend them before our tacticians get there. invariably the other team is racing tacts there as well, so the waiting infs can take them out.

Didn't realize I was getting a GAF squad invite until it was too late last night. Sorry to whoever sent that to me. I will be on again tonight. I pretty much have resolved to playing Engineer all the time now. So much fun.

We had a game against [GOAT] last night. Despite how severely laggy it was for us, it was generally a close game and overall a lot of fun, if frustrating :p Kind of like a forced wank, i suppose.

lol we played [AxP], the 2nd ranked clan twice last night, first in a 8v6 and a then 8v5 and they still beat us both times. both matches were in our favor but we just didnt have the talent on our team to win. we really need more US players to step up and play more since we're losing easy matches for no reason. i really hate to say this but unlike kz2 the euro talent is alot better overall than us laggy americans right now.

maybe i should just stick to playing with the euros from now on :0

I was not there for those two clan matches but every time we lose either because it is laggy or because people simply start going for kills instead of doing the objective and one guy will get past them and cap a tsp. Another problems is that people don't communicate even if they have a headset and they will let their whole team get stabbed in the back.

Yeah, I really need to start signing on earlier in the day so I can get some training in with the Euros. I mean, I can do objectives or I can get kills, usually the former, but I can't seem to do both at the same time like most of you guys. I think I have the potential to be great, but I really need to put in the extra playtime.

I didn't play in those AxP matches, so I don't know how those went, but I did play in the GOAT match. I don't normally like to blame lag, but it's pretty damn brutal in some of these online clan matches where I guess the host is overseas. Between Open Beta and release, I've probably put in over 50 hours of MP, and I know the difference between me getting owned by someone better and me dying because of latency. It's extremely frustrating.

Outside of that, though, there are a couple things non-latency related that I noticed the better teams do. For one, they seem to be organized - we have no such organization. They also seem to know the maps better than myself, at least - for example, on Boulevard (map we played GOAT on), I've probably played that map maybe 2 or 3 times total ever. It just never enters the rotation, seemingly ever. I think we'd be better off if we played more public games, if only to practice. In the 10 to 15 clan matches I've played in, 95% end up with us spawn camping them in a match where we outnumber them 8 to 5/6 (or they leave and we wait around for 20 minutes). That's not really helping us at all, tbh. Besides, there's seemingly 20 minutes between matches, so it's about 1 clan match an hour with a lot of waiting around, filling up the team or waiting for a match.

I agree that there needs to be more discipline when it comes to guarding certain areas and whatnot. I think that ties into the organization thing.

I agree, we need to play more. In the handful of games I've played with gaffers, we don't actually get to play much. Not to mention that it takes forever to actually get a game. I'd love it if we could just hop in and play with randoms more as a group.

For EuroGaf on Killzone 2, I used to write up tactics, assign classes and squads to people, designated squad leaders and roles for each warzone mode attack and defence, where people should be and move to depending on different situations that could arise and sent them out via PMs.

It wasn't very comprehensive but it was enough that people knew their roles in the match and while it was a bit trial and error at times and we didn't always win, they definitely helped the cohesion of the clan in each match. I had time to do it though, with scheduling matches in K2, I had time to work out who was playing in the match, assign roles to their strengths and get it outto everyone playing.

Now, with matchmaking, you can't do that, especially when we are a larger clan with different members playing each night, maps and opponents being random and the system generally being utter shit.

The best tactic I've seen for K3 is everyone going Tactician and rushing the TSPs, once we hold it/them you either have the game won (if it's P. Crater) or got thefirst round locked down (if it's not body count). Someone suggested using two infiltrators to fend off tsps until tacticians get there which also works.

Yeah, that was me who suggested running two infiltrators to the tsps at start. What a great idear! :p I agree that the matchmaking changes a lot of stuff, as does the fact that we can't create custom games. If things dont' change, I can't see people taking KZ3 seriously enough to put this effort into playing it competitively...

How is it that we have about 90 member in the clan, yet half the time when we send out invites so we can play some clan matches only the same people accept it or we don't have enough so we don't do any. If we are doing clan matches with this many people in the clan we should easily be able to run multiple clan matches at the same time.

Ha, I was thinking about this earlier. Without our chat room, I don't know how someone would get invovled, though, and the chatroom is only limited to 16 people.

I think the main problem is that people can't join random clan member's games. Until GG fixes that, we may just be playing with the same group of people every time. I'll be online tonight for some clan games btw.

I am going to go through the clan and remove a lot of people, as with any GAF clan people join and then never play. If I remove anyone who is active or wanted to play you'll have to post or send me a message. Would be really useful if I could see when clan members were last active but I guess, seeing as the clan member list doesn't even filter by who is fucking online, I am asking for far too much.

Having the chatrooms limited to 16 people is really annoying. I was thinking about setting up a couple of clan chatrooms and have for example myself, lince, aj and pwonager in both and the current one to coordinate/communicate between them and get everyone invited to atleast one of them but this will get really complicated and messy. We could post here if we are looking for members to see if anyone is around. Problem is we make a squad of 8, then the couple who don't get in play the campaign or join another match and don't wait to start a second squad.

I think we should have two squads going (with enough people available) - one doing clan matches, one doing pub games. This way ppl can do what they want and don't have to be left out of playing with FTSG completely if the clan group is full (which is usually is). The chat room limit of 16 is f'ing stupid. Unfortunately, that limitation, and the fact that the clan system fucking sucks, is a real limitation on getting GAF players together.

Don't remove me Cagen!

I haven't battled with anyone from FTSG but I am playing, just haven't gotten in many games with others yet since the Join Clan Member doesn't seem to be working as it's .. oh wait it's not even there ..

That would work. I accepted the invite a few days but college is preventing me from spending much time on the game. I'm a pub guy anyway. I wouldn't want my general inexperience with the game to drag down any clan matches, plus I need to unlock some more stuff.

I usually see a few people online, but I figure you guys are in a clan match or something, so I don't really want to spam invites...

Live Feed randomly joined a game I was in, though.

Hmm. Was I kicked out the clan? I only played one game with you guys but i just noticed the clan thing doesn't show up anymore for me or even on the Killzone site.

My ID is Neo_Soma btw.

Actually on that note I'm just not sure about this game anymore. Maybe it's just me playing against randoms or something but I'm just not having as much fun with the game lately. It's pretty heartbreaking considering how hyped I was for the game prior to the release. The lack of features and bizarre design choices is kinda killing my interest. I know there's plans of future patches in the works but I'm starting to think it might be too little too late :(

Hey man a lot of us feel like that. Don't post it in the official thread though, or idiots who think the mp is great, but only play TDM will be down your throat like liquid shill.

Why I never! ...it's this kind of ignorance and opinions blinded by nostalgia, KZ2 was flawed/poor man's shooter, etc.

J/k.

As much shit as I gave KZ2 (I loathe that game..) even I know that KZ3 MP is inferior in nearly every way. I love the new feel of the controls but everything else is complete crap. I actually thought Matchmaking was going to work out (and one of the holy defenders of this feature), this game needs custom serverlists w/ search options :|

Anywho, I applied for a spot in the clan. Waiting for an invite myself! -- I'm also definitely in the same boat as moonspeak, the only sense of enjoyment I get out of this game is playing with GAF(ers).

lol, yeh that's the typical cheerleader-gaf response to anyone with the tiniest amount of criticism :D <3

Cagen will be doing some pruning of the clan i believe. There are a lot of people who haven't accepted their invites and are likely to be removed for people, such as yourself, who want to play the game ;p

Playing with GAF (even GAF America ;p) is so superior than playing with the random playerbase. When they patch custom games back in, hopefully we'll be getting FTSGvsFTSG games going regularly. Something to look forward to, hopefully :)

I have been on MP every night but Tuesday night and I have yet to get the timing right to get into a clan match. But I really, really want to play. I see guys are in a game, but I can't join. Grrrrrrr.

For some reason I'm not in the clan any longer. I guess it's possible I did the infamous miss-click when leaving a group and accidentally left the clan. Can I get another invite Cagen? I've left an application via Killzone.com again.

It's a mess with how the squads and matchmaking works, makes it really hard to get people together for clan matches. They tried to make it accessible for casuals (who won't give a shit about clan matches) but fucked it up for clans like ours. In K2 we would rotate players if needed for clan matches to make sure everyone got to play, it was usually the same core group but if someone else wanted to join one of us would bow outto let them in but we had time to organise it. Now we just get 8 people together which is always from the same core group and jump into match making, meaning others get left out, especially when we use the chatroom to get together and it's limited to 16 people.

I don't really know how to fix it, other then trying to get more people playing in the clan and use the clan members list to send PSN messages to people online.

I'll add a few people still waiting for invites tonight.

If you guys have a squad going, one of you could pop in here and post either: "Hey we have x number of people in our squad, we need y more. Ask so and so for an invite." or "Sorry guys we have a full squad. Go ahead and start another one." It would also help if you list who is in the current squad. Definitely a bit of a hassle, but it might save some people from waiting forever for an invite.

Negaiido

We can also just make another chatroom because the current one is for normal chat and Killzone 3 chat. (and maybe in-squad chat :D). Some people like Wowbagger aren't playing KZ3 and it could save us a few spots :)

That would work in theory, but aj sent a ton of invites the other night and one person showed up. I think some people wanted to join the group just to say they're a part of gaf.
