But A44 should being basically self-published and not having a big public publisher behind them means not everything has to pull massive massive numbers.
Public companies are much more likely to trim the fat for the execs to see bigger profits.
The Kepler group generally look out for each other, theyve got another publishing project coming out soonish I think they can hold out on the Gamepass money and any funds they still got from investments and past titles.
They got Expedition 33 coming soon, they shouldn't turn into just another publisher, so ill support everything from the Kepler group.

Personally I think that's fair. If you don't like the MC who you will be seeing for 10s of hours no point to play the game.

I skip a lot of "anime" games when I don't like character designs. For example I loathed Xenoblade 2, been playing that off and on for last few years and never finished.

On the other hand I love Witcher series or Yakuza games and those are predefined characters.

I wouldn't avoid a game just based on the character to begin with. I don't care if I'm a black samurai and that is or isn't accurate history. It's a game. If it's fun I'll play it. Flintlock has more issues than people hating on the character.

Not really. People loved Ashen(has a character creator)and this game plays even better. I tried the demo. But if I can't have a character to relate to I don't really have a desire to play it. We live in an age where games are super plentiful.

Yeah, I am no longer into those kind of games either. No Mario-likes since I was a preteen kinda guy. It makes me sad since I loved Final Fantasy Tactics as a kid, but I don't think I could get into a new one if it kept the same art style.

I really enjoyed it. Would love a sequel. It ends at a pretty cool spot in the story. Combat was great once you get some abilities.

I don't get the reviews at all, but I stopped trying to understand other people years ago. Some of the bosses were balanced nearly perfectly. It may be a AA game, but you can tell some people put thought into the game.

It's a gamepass game, of course you really enjoyed it. If they made a game for gamepass where you literally just pick up shit, i'm sure you would really enjoy it as well.

It was a 9/10 for me.

A great new IP action game. Characters were one of the game's strengths; both of them, and I'd like to see the story continue. Combat was substantially better than I expected. I compared one of the later bosses to one of my favorite bosses from Nioh 1 which is high praise from me. Combat has multiple interesting abilities that were fun to use the whole game. Again reminded me a bit of Nioh 1 where the skill tree felt substantial.

Its not a perfect game. AA for sure, little jank, some audio bugs I did encounter repeatedly. I do think it starts a bit slow before it clicked for me. But I had a great time with the game.

When games are this divisive I say what I think but I dont officially recommend it to people. I just tell people to watch footage and make their own call. You may hate it or like it or love it. No idea. I made several gifs in that thread so that people dont have to listen to me, just look and see how you feel.

One thing though that is just objectively a lie is the woke BS in this thread. Im still waiting for people to show 1 single clip or line of dialogue, one scene, even just type up a plot summary of what is woke. Not 1 person here can produce a single specific example from the actual released game because it doesnt exist.

Trust me I get it. It's one of the reasons why at this point I just want gamers to continue this crusade to it's end.

I thought about it for a while, and I think that's the only way we can all move forward to just talking about video games again, because if the 'villains' are removed, then in the future a game containing any characters or elements that represent different ideologies or backgrounds can simply be judged on their own gameplay and storytelling merits like people used to do, instead of lazily using a catch-all answer for when a game ends up bad or they don't want to buy something.

At least, that's my hope for the positive outcome. The negative outcome is that people will slowly realize they have nothing to point their anger at anymore and will go deeper down the hole to blame a new entity, thus putting us collectively back at square one with tons and tons of threads derailed yet again into culture war crap.
