Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor - Saturday August 26th |OT| FOOK / YEAAAH

There must be some idiots running these places.

How the guy at the Wynn does it is how it should be done.

"We're just kind of going along balancing and are in great shape win on both sides, no matter who wins," said Johnny Avello, oddsmaker at the Wynn resort. "A lot of guys are putting down $125,000 or so to win whatever on Mayweather so we're high on him now."

This may be the case in most instances, just not here. Feel free to google it or read the link I posted. A lot of places are going to lose big on a McGregor win.

Because they're idiots.

Because they're idiots.

I mean you say they're idiots but it's the way it is because they are in a way betting on Mayweather, I think that is pretty far from idiotic.

Vegas will make the same money no matter what happens unless they are idiots.

If Floyd wins, they pay winners with the money that was bet on Conor. And they keep some for themselves.

If Conor wins, they pay winners with the much larger amount of money that was bet on Floyd. And they keep some for themselves.
Please read things before saying things. Vegas currently faces a liability of millions. The reason for this is complicated. Vegas odds-makers are not idiots.

If that's because they are betting on Mayweather, they're not idiots.

Other than that, yeah. No other good reason for them to face a possible liability at all.

Sure there is. They didn't expect the small money to come in as strong as it did for McGregor, and they expected the big money to come in stronger for Mayweather. They couldn't risk the odds going too close because the larger bets were always going to be late and in Mayweather's favor. The odds came down from like -3500 to -350 for McGregor, they absolutely tried to get the public to vote the other way but the public doesn't like doing things in the public's best interest.

To me that's just like saying that they don't know how to manage a sportsbook properly unlike the guy at the Wynn.

Definitely gonna watch this at a bar, the meltdowns are gonna be glorious.

Only way we get real legit meltdowns is if somehow Conor wins. I think even the people predicting / rooting for him to pull it off see it as a long shot. This isn't even his sport.

If he somehow does it though, yeah we are talking full on internet breaking levels of meltdown

they fucking did it, i'm starting to believe that conor has a tiny chance.
i know it's not true, i know they manipulated me into thinking it but goddamn i do think it.

I feel like Mayweather is manipulating this to some degree. I think he has helped get the line to where it is and now him and his posse will bet on himself so everyone gets paid.

Of course he is, it's in Floyd's best interest financially to make McGregor look good and have folks think McGregor stands a big chance of winning. Floyd is normally WAY more talkative about himself and how good he is, but he's not really saying much at all in the lead up to this but instead is letting McGregor do all the talking and boasting. When Floyd does say things, it's always something that plants doubt in your head like when said McGregor has a good chance because he (Floyd) lost a step.

Floyd is a business man, he knows how to make money.

You're right, in hindsight this is extremely obvious.

Out of all the people I didn't expect, Al Bernstein just went on record and predicted Conor to beat Floyd. That's totally out of left field for me.

Edit - lol not accurate. A reporter fucked up. I was gonna say that made no sense to me

This is getting out of hand. Floyd Mayweather is a boxer. Maybe one of the best boxers of all time. He has had 49 professional boxing matches. He has won them all.

Connor McGregor is an MMA fighter who has never had a professional boxing match in his life.

This is a sport people, not a streetfight. A tennis player cannot beat someone who is a professional racketball player at racketball.

Al Bernstein works for Showtime. He's attempting to get people interested. It's working.

Official Fight Purses have been release

Floyd - $100 million
Conor - $30 million

Worth noting this is just disclosed purse. Doesn't include any PPV buys, take home from the Gate, or merch / products sold in the arena so both will make substantially higher than this.

This is about what I expected in terms of disparity but I was confident Conor got the initial Pacquiao offer of 40m guaranteed + PPV points. 30 + points is still a hell of a lot more than he made in the UFC and I bet it's near enough his baseline going forward if he continues to fight in the UFC which I expect he will for another 3 fights at the most.

A good amount for McGregor, I've always worried about his spending habits relative to how much he's won.
