Henderson wide? Bwah?

Really? Can't be surely. He's either in a narrow 3 man midfield or wide right. Has to be. Even Pearce isn't that silly.

Also everyone don't forget that after the U21s game the U17s are in the World Cup against Rwanda. It's live on Eurosport/EurosportHD at 9pm UK time.

Im hoping its not the case, im just going off the sky text commentary on my phone saying we should keep an eye on him as hes playing a wide left role tonight.

But then the lineups show him as centre mid.

Confused...

It seems England's CBs have more licence to go forward than Henderson. Did he ever play deep lying DM/playmaker for Sunderland?
Im a little concerned about this as well, it was the same in the last game, he was barely out of our half.

Ew. Nike kits. Ugly.

Why put that authentic badge on the outside of the kit. I also like how EVERY goalkeeper whos team wears Nike looks identical.

Rwanda have a 15yr old winger called Alfred Mugabo playing, was born in England but a month ago switched to play for Rwanda. Will be interesting to see how he does

Jesus Christ how square are Henderson and Muamba? What's Pearce had them doing? Reading tactics books from 1970? Henderson desperately needs to push up the field. It's dire because there's not enough movement and too few players ahead of him to pass to, plus he's been dire at passing so far.

His (henderson) positioning and movement haven't been good at all, but as you said, hard to tell if its the manager telling them to sit back or not.

Smallling has had a great game. All it takes is one mistake, though. It's great he has the confidence to play like he is, but almost got caught out twice towards the end of the half.

Henderson like the other two matches I have watched so far just lets the game pass him by and offers very little when he finally gets himself on the ball. Also the lack of composure on the ball from England is bad and Phil Jones seems to have at least one dodgy moment a game.

Really need to attack as a team in the second half and get some support to the strikers because Welbeck especially is badly isolated.

Looking forward to seeing Raheem Sterling in action later. That lad could become a great player in the future.

Smalling really has been a class above in all 3 of these games.

We've never really had a hard job producing top quality defenders though...

Yeah, none of these guys are really the finished article. I don't think calling out a 20-year-old is going to do anyone any good, to be honest.

That said, wow this is negative. I'm just glad that Mancienne isn't playing - guy looks totally uninterested every time he plays..

I'm switching the U17s on. Might be more exciting.

Fix'd. Fulham produced him.

Er, if you're going to correct people, please, get it correct yourself. Maidstone United developed Chris Smalling as a youth player! At a stretch you could even claim Millwall too!

Henderson subbed. Thank fuck.

20 million worth of uninspiring sideways passing.

So has Henderson played that bad compared to the rest or what?

Not especially - very few players have covered themselves in glory in the tournament. Mancienne, Rose and Welbeck have been particularly uninspiring in the 3 games though :(

Think Frank Lampard in an England shirt without the shot or penalty taking skill. Or the passing.

Edit: Or the movement.

Pretty much this. I think Liverpool have been robbed.

Hehe.. Steve Wigley..

Edit: Looks like England are playing bad without Henderson on the field.

I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, to be honest.

Goal aside he's been like a shitter version of Djibril Cisse. Clumsy and clueless.

I honestly have no clue where Henderson is going to play for Liverpool next season unless Gerrard gets injured for the most of the campaign. Don't see him offering anything that we already don't have. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Based on his performances in this tournament, i would agree.

However, He's been played in an awful position all the way through the tournament, and LFC is an entirely different setup to England, just as SFC was. Writing him off on these performances alone is about the same level seen from the worst of the RAWKites.

Ill judge him on the performances he puts in wearing a red shirt. If he's shit then, hes getting called on it.
