Well I only caught the end of the Bundesliga season on ESPN, we have German-GAF who will be better placed to comment but since they're not about right now...

Cisse is good player, good power and pace, pretty much typical for African players. He was the 2nd highest scorer in the Bundesliga last season in a team (Freiburg) that didn't set the league alight. Tended to play the lone man up front for Freiburg. Had a great finishing season. At 6ft he's got aerial ability but might struggle with the adjustment to English refereeing. At least from what I saw of him.

At £6million in todays market he'd be a steal. Anything above £10million is risky, but that's where you have to go to ward off the Russians these days with their oil and gas cash.

Here's his goals highlight reel.

£12m is the quoted price I think, seems high, then again it's only a third of Andy Carroll I suppose.

Heard the price went up to that because Lokomotiv Moscow came in for him with a bag of cash, which you need to make players play in a racist league with empty stadiums, thrown matches and astro-turf.

12m isn't a bad price. Didn't Liverpool, or ManU, just paid like 20M for an english nobody?
I don't know much about Cisse, just his goal record last season. He should be good everywhere, practically he was alone and still he made so many goals.

so ashley young is a man utd player... Has he ever worn anything apart from the no 7 shirt for Aston villa?

So we got a no.7 winger and a proper free kick plus penalty taker now. 3 in 1... :p

Its only been two seasons that ronaldo has not be with us but it feels a lot longer...

He is a spectacular set up man. Great pace, likes to take men on, his assists are excellent, he is also capable of scoring himself. He can take good free kicks but if given the chance will ALWAYS want to take every kick, this is a problem if he gets into a bad rut into a game which he can.

His only negative is that he is a diver. Not really a negative when he is playing for your team but opposing supporters/players get mighty pissed about it.

Good luck with him, he was a fabulous player for us.

any ideas on who might try to buy ganso? United could do with him, cheaper than modric and sneijder.

Santos just won the Libertadores and don't want or need to sell him. They only want to lose one player to Europe and that's probably going to be Neymar. Ganso would be €50million+ so I doubt anyone will take a serious gamble on him this summer.

Don't think he's won anything in his career as of yet. Doubt he will get the No.7 shirt. I don't think SAF will take it away from Owen, should have never given it to him in the first place tbh. If anybody does get it it should be Nani anyway!

He should. The 7 is United. you cant give it to a guy who barely plays. its just wrong.

Ganso would be 50m Euros plus? Really? From what i've read/heard it's more likely that Ganso moves this summer than Neymar.

I'm not sure, it has become an iconic number for the club, but i'm honestly not sure who we have at the moment who lives up to the recent players who have worn the number, apart from Rooney (or Hernandez, esp in terms of his relationship with the fans). I almost get the feeling maybe SAF is saving it for somebody, but it would be a major media storm if nobody had it, so he's just given it to Owen for now. At the same time, SAF isn't keen on these kinds of things, I know he gave Ronaldo the #7 shirt even though Ronaldo wanted another number, but I think he isn't too crazy about the importance of shirt numbers. And he's right...it does have an impact to a certain level, maybe the responsibility of it can give players confidence, and on a business level it certainly can be a big help. That said, Owen has it now. IMO on principle alone we should leave it with him until he leaves.

Sorry, his release clause is €50million, he still has 4 years on his contract and he's paid pretty damn well thanks to Brazilian tax not being as high as here. It could happen, but Brazilian clubs have more financial clout than before and Santos won't want to break up their libertadores winning team easily.

English press reporting now that Barcelona has officially presented a bid for Fabregas, rejected by Arsenal. I think Fabregas is the only player that can take this team to the next level, with him Barcelona are assured at least 6 more years being one of the elite clubs in Europe.

Does this mean that they give up on sanchez. i read somewhere barca wouldn't spend over 50 mil this summer.

£27m? Is that some kind of joke! Barca must know he's gonna cost £35m at the very least. If they don't have the money for it or don't want to pay they should end the speculation IMO.

Came across this video of Ashley Young, it must be faked but I can't quite spot where/how. Any ideas?

EDIT - Looking now it must be when it comes back in from out of shot.

Lucio informed Bayern that he would like to return to the club, but Bayern still confident to sign Boateng, according to "Kicker".

So Lucio asked to rejoin Bayern, but the board rejected it because he's too old and too expensive salary. Alex (Chelsea) wasn't a option at all, because he doesn't has too much minutes in the past seasons. Milito is injury prone, so he isn't an option.

Basically, Bayern wants Boateng.

£27m sounds like the right price imo.

The Mirror is saying the bid was £31, but even that is too low considering he's only, what, 23.....? He's going to end up at Barca eventually, this is just the start of it.

Arsenal are never going to accept such a shitty price.

Cesc will stay, I am totally confident of that now. Barcelona simply do not have the money required or do not feel Cesc is worth coughing up.

Well it's not like they need him badly right now. The midfield is pretty much a lock for them with Xavi-CDM-Iniesta. Pop in Biscuits or Mascherano or whoever in CDM. If they got him, they would have bench either Xavi or Iniesta -- and who the hell would want to do that. Xavi is good for a few more years, especially with the style that Barca play, it's not like the man is running box to box for 90 minutes each game.

This is just good business strategy by Barca (or you could call it trolling or unprofessional, depends on the view point). They are making sure that by making lulz lowball offers now, they can keep his value on the market supressed until they are either ready to break the bank for him, or Cesc himself tells Arsenal to f off and demands a transfer.

Smart play as usual by Barca, if a little unprofessional. They know that in a world where Torres got 50 mil, you can't get someone of Cesc's caliber (team captain, KEY player, star player, young and lots of years to go) for like half off, it's not a sale at the supermarket.

Doesn't Xavi run a lot when he plays? I think he covered most area in the CL final.

27m for Fabregas. What a fucking joke. He can probably easily command 40m or more.

All they are trying to do is unsettle the player and force him into a transfer request, just like Chelsea did with Modric. They know he won't be sold for that price.

Sky Sports are now reporting that Udinese want more than £44m for Sanchez as they think he's the best player of his generation. This transfer saga is a joke at this stage. All teams interested should just pull out from signing Sanchez as a giant fuck you to Giampaolo Pozzo.Best player of his generation?Messi is only a year older ffs.

psh, if you think that's annoying try following the Pastore transfer news. it's best to just not pay attention to any of it because it's all probably bullshit anyway.

I'm guessing it's due to the fact that a portion of our transfer fund was based on the sale of Aquilani, which looks like it might not happen now.

Raul will be much easier to sell.

Pastore is a bit more straightforward though,Palermo will be looking for 40m as a the minimum price for him.Clubs will have a fair idea of what it will take to get him.The Sanchez deal is annoying though because he started off at 27m and now Udinese want a bidding war.I'm not a Man City or a Barca fan,I just want this shit to be over.

Because we CAN sell him, and Kenny seems determined to get Charlie Adam. It'd also probably cover paying Jovanovic, Cole, Konchesky and Poulson to f**k off should we have to.

If we do sell him there's going to be quite a lot of pissed off Liverpool fans. Quite honestly would rather of kept Raul than blown 18m on Jordan Henderson (Can't actually believe this happened). The guy popped up with some vital goals for us last year as well as doing his fair share of donkey work on the wings.

People only watch the highlights on MOTD and think Charlie Adam is a great midfielder when the truth is he just shone for a few weeks in a relegated Blackpool side. Quite a number of games Blackpool would concede goals from a bad Adam pass and there where times during the season where his pass percentage fell below 50% in some matches.

Suarez aside (who is top class) I'm a little bit worried by our transfer policy under Comolli and to a lesser degree Daglish. Don't like getting linked with unknown french wingers and strikers at a time like this when we need proven quality to get us back in the top four.

In my opinion Juventus can shove both Melo and their 13m up their arses just like Charlie Adam can fuck off to somebody else. I would much rather keep both Raul and Alberto in the side. Pissed of to be honest.

Yeah I share those fears. Henderson I suspect will be a fairly sound investment, but I honestly don't see what value Adam adds.

Having said that though, Adam seems to be wanted by a lot of the top clubs, so there must be something there, right?

Just gotta trust that Comolli knows what he is doing.

The thing with Adam is that Kenny clearly really wants to sign him, and judging by the first 6 months of this spell in charge, he can make players who we all considered not good enough, play very well. Just look at Maxi and the transformation he's had under Kenny. So he might well be able to get the best out of Adam if we do sign him. I'll be sad to see Raul go though, he's played very well under Dalglish.

Joe said:

I think he counts every goal he's ever scored, including friendlies etc. Pele annoys me, he's undoubtedly one of the greatest players ever if not the greatest, but nowadays he just seems massively arrogant, almost scared that someone's very close to overtaking his "best player ever" title.

Well he's a decent Midfielder with a good range of passing, good set piece delivery and shone for a few weeks at Blackpool putting him in the spotlight. I'm not saying he isn't talented but he doesn't really offer anything we don't already have aside from the set piece delivery.

Chris Brunt from West Brom has more impressive stats on the whole for the season than Adam and I don't see a big rush to sing him.

Honestly it was a no brainer to have Maxi push further up the pitch and get into the box more and that's what he's been doing his whole career. Maxi was never really suited to the way we played especially under Rafa were our wide midfielders would have to track back a lot.

Lets be honest as well (not to take anything away from Dalglish) but at the time he took over we were playing absolutely fucking shit football that couldn't of gotten any worse. No doubt he has turned the team around in a lot of ways but there was still quite a few times we played like shit.

I guess you could argue that Brunt was in a much better team, whereas Adam was really carrying Blackpool through most of the season.

Be interesting to see how he'd play without that constraint.

That's true,he also seems to hate anything Argentinian.Talking up Neymar while belittling Messi.Neymar is one of the worst divers you'll ever see ffs. He'll probably end up as Robinho 2.0,all flash but under the first bit of real pressure he'll turn to shit.

Wouldn't say West Brom are a much better team that Blackpool myself - Just know how to keep it tight at the back when it matters (towards the end of the season).

Happy Birthday to Lionel Messi. He's 24. Just 24. That's young.

Pele is old & seemingly a bit bitter about football evolving. It would be interesting to see how he would cope in today's game, which is a lot faster.

The 626 on wiki is league goals only. It doesn't count Cup goals, Libertadores etc. Also the league system was fucking crazy in Brasil before the 90s.

I'm a little concerned by the Meireles sale talk, he's a good player. Why are we going after the likes of Adam when its a left back and wingers we need? Do we see him growing into Stevies mantle in the long term?
