Great stuff, I had nothing better to do and it turned out very worth my time.

Now please just join both cups and let 4 of CONCACAF teams into the Copa America so we can have an even bigger, better competition.

Who would want him,Barca certainly didnt.I can't see him going for much especially since he's pretty much done nothing of note for the last three years bar the Gold Cup.

Seriously, he's like Milan Baros, or that other Mexican Barrera at West Ham. Great for your country, crap for your club. Opposite of our English players :D

Edit: At 22 I'd be happy if Liverpool did some sort of £5m + a player deal (Joe Cole?) for him. He's got some time and he must recognise he can't command high wages yet.

Lol Joe Cole.I know Dos Santos has a lot of talent but Harry Redknapp in the past has questioned his professionalism.I know he hasnt sold him because he thinks he'll come good eventually. Also I doubt Tottenham would sell to a direct rival anymore.

I'm Irish so I know all about players disappointing in the league and being fantastic for their country.Robbie Keane :p

One thing about Chicharito today: I saw him playing deeper than ever before at Man United -some of his passes put our fucking midfield to shame too (though admittedly that's not saying much). I think Chicharito is aware of his liabilities and is trying to become more than a goal poacher.

Ah Robbie Keane, the one who everyone thought was a great signing, then couldn't hit a barn door for Liverpool, who they then barracked for selling him back to Spurs at a tiny loss. I still remember some of his misses for us and shudder. Great player for Ireland though as you said.

And seriously we'll do anything to get rid of Joe Cole, anything at all. Jovanovic, Poulson, Degen, El Zhar, Konchesky and Kyrgiakos too. Please someone take them!

He really played great today, to my dismay.

I have even higher hopes for him next season!

Well Spurs never give him a chance. And he did do very well when he was on loan for Racing Santander. Had 5 goals and I think an assist.

As for the guy who said Barca didn't want him. That's not true. He left because he thought he could start right way or sooner than he would at Barca. His dad aka his agent fucked that up.

Gio's goal was sublime, Mexico bitches.

USA-Mexico game was great.

Coming from 2-0 to a 4-2 is impressive. Mexico looks like a good young side that is going to get better with time.

Have to say tactically both sides were pretty dismal though with the USA just losing shape constantly and Mexico finding themselves out of position regularly. Happily it made for a wide open game.

A true classic don't you think? When you play your long time rival everything goes, the heart reigns over the mind many times and that's what makes these games great.

Brilliant. As a neutral it was wonderful to watch. The spectacle and the Mexican fans really added to it.

You can really tell Chepo has been working with them in more than just tactics. The team from the last World Cup or the one from 2002 would have been heavily demoralised after the Donovan goal.

He had his chances at the start of the season and he was absolute shit. His attitude is atrocious, he's late to training, often hungover and apparently got into a drink driving scrape that meant Carlos Vela had to pick him up from the police station. His parents had to come over to apologise to Redknapp for his behaviour. A good talent but nothing more, we'll be well rid of him.

TRANSFER GOSSIP
Gareth Bale will demand to leave Tottenham if the club sells Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who is wanted by Chelsea.

But Spurs are prepared to make Modric the highest-paid player in their history if he agrees to stay at White Hart Lane - the 25-year-old could earn as much as £90,000-a-week.

Manchester City are set to bid £38m for Udinese's Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez in the hope that it will persuade him to sign for them instead of Barcelona.

Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre, 26, claims he is being targeted by Manchester United.

Aston Villa are plotting a £14m raid on Manchester City for their former midfielder James Milner.

Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko is in negotiations with Liverpool and Newcastle over a potential transfer, while Inter and Lyon are also interested.

Manchester United have joined Manchester City and Real Madrid in the £25m race for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung is wanted by Italian giants Juventus.

Aston Villa's Stewart Downing, 26, must hand in a transfer request in order to secure an £18m switch to Liverpool.

Newcastle are attempting to hijack Darron Gibson's proposed £5m move from Manchester United to Sunderland.

Nottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren is set to make £2m Blackburn midfielder and out-of-contract former Reds winger Andy Reid his first signings at the City Ground.

OTHER GOSSIP
Arsenal are set to hand 19-year-old midfielder Jack Wilshere a new long-term contract.

Manchester City face the prospect of a £30m wage bill next season for the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Roque Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Jo and Nedum Onuoha - who they do not want but cannot get rid of.
Dat wage bill!

Truly awesome goal, great ball control and a wonderfully executed finish.

If he can do that on a regular basis he could feature heavily for Spurs next season.

He messed up for sure and his drinking ways are being exaggerated after those famous pics of him being dead drunk in that car. That doesn't mean you can't give him more chances. Arry doesn't even pay attention to his players on loan. He said he was disappointed in how the loaned players performed which is laughable seeing as how Gio saved Racing from relegation.

His game is more suited for Spain anyways.

So what do you guys think City should do with its flabby roster?

Sucks that our over-payment of players has come to bite us in the arse, but I guess that's something we'll have to learn from in future. The club seems to have smelled the roses with Tevez and will allow him to leave on a free transfer in two seasons. IF he stays, mind you.

8 years ago Marc Vivien Foe passed away.

RIP Marc. Even though you were on loan to City you still wore our shirt. He must have been a truly awesome character because we retired the shirt number 23 in honour of him, especially seeing as he was on loan.

Do what I do in FM2011 - continue to send them out on loans, don't renew their contracts and then release them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left… he almost did was it last season or the season before? This is probably the last year we can get a high fee for him so whilst I'd like him to stay if we can get a good price for him we can sign a decent replacement and AVB can begin his rebuild that way.

Zhirkov needs to go as well though. If both go, get 1 new lb and play Bertrand as back-up he looks quite decent for us and we can always replace him in Jan if he doesn't play well enough.

That transfer gossip better stay gossip where Darron Gibson is concerned. Kid aint' good enough to play in the Premier League. No idea why Sunderland want him and I certainly doubt Newcastle want to hijack the move.

In other news, Sky Sports News is reporting that Sergio Ramos will be listening to offers. Something happened over at Madrid so it looks like he could leave. Probably pave the way for Real Madrid going for Maicon.

I thought City were run by sensible people?

A few of those players are good - very good but overpaid at City and maybe unwilling to move. I'd take a couple at Rovers but only if their wages were somehow lowered or subsidised.

Rovers have been linked to some real players in the papers today but will take it all with a pinch of salt.

Sensible people aren't allowed a poor tactical decision at times? Our flabby roster is a 'good problem'. It's a problem nonetheless, but it's hardly indicative of horrible Venky-style mismanagement. ; )

Like I said, we'll learn from it. The days of paying players 200 grand + a week are probably over, and I think we'll be alot smarter in the manner with which players are acquired and paid.

I'm not sure those days are over - wouldn't everyone City are being linked with demand that kind of money? And I'm not sure having Jo watching your games from his home while on huge money is a 'good problem' ;)

Well, as far as I know, the only two players earning over 200 grand a week are Tevez and Toure, and they probably deserve it (in a football sense, anyway).

You've got to remember, most of the signings now in question (Santa Cruz, Given, Bellamy, Adebayor, Jo) are from the Hughes era and reflect a time when City was finding its feet in the transfer market. Given and Bellamy were successful buys that were either outclassed by inter-team rivals or due to a falling out with Mancini.

Since then our signings have been pretty solid, although the jury is still out on Balotelli (although he will alays be a City hero after his derby day heroics/antics), and to a lesser extent Dzeko. We've made some fantastic signings really. de Jong, Kompany, Johnson (WE GOT HIM FOR 6 MILLION!) Zabaleta, Barry, Milner, Toure, Tevez, and Viera.

Only failure has been Boateng, but that was due mainly to injury. He's clearly a fantastic player, but when even Kolorov dominates a position, you haven't got much chance.

I feel thats the main reason players may choose city over others like chelsea or united, because they offer higher wages. if they didn't, i don't think they'd be signing with city because other clubs can offer what they do. But fair play to them, if they got the money thesy should use it.

Oh, without doubt. I'm simply saying that City will be alot more intelligent about their signings in future since we'll have learnt from our mistakes, and the need to slip within the UCL guidelines.

I'm shocked that city haven't signed anyone yet, what areas do you think they need to improve on? Not a fan of city but watching them, they proly need another creative player. Silva was great last season

Johnson (WE GOT HIM FOR 6 MILLION!)
iirc Johnson was so cheap because his contract had 6 months left to go on his contract and would have been a free transfer in the summer of that year. City did well to get in there quickly tbh so props, but nobody else was gonna put down 6m for somebody who'd have been free in a few months time..

You did NOT pay £6m for Johnson. We had a bid that was higher than that accepted which City came and blew out of the water.

Source: his fucking Dad who was advising him at the time, though I think he was a 'proper' agent now.

Not sure i'd class Milner as a fantastic signing, good player but not worth anywhere near what you paid. Would also put Lescott in the not so great signings.

Owners do seem to be taking their time this summer before splashing the cash compared to previous years though.

Splatt said:

Can't see it, as it goes we have no right side, so it wouldn't make a great deal of sense for us to get rid what left side we have.

Ryan Bertrand is Cole's understudy, and whilst he looked good in the one game I seen him. It would be a bit much to shift Ashley out and put Ryan in full time.

Well then they're idiots, and it shows City's growing transfer savvy.

It's all conjecture, but 6m is the commonly accepted fee paid. Both the Guardian and BBC pegged it as slightly higher at 7 and 8 million respectively, but 6 million is what City apparently paid according to club sources. Either way, you got masterfully trolled by City. = P

Not sure i'd class Milner as a fantastic signing, good player but not worth anywhere near what you paid. Would also put Lescott in the not so great signings.

Fair point. Both Milner and Lescott has pretty strong finishes to the season, with Lescott doing a good job of keeping Kolo's spot warm. Neither were worth the money we paid, but that goes for nearly all our signings during the 09 period.

Another winger, a creative midfielder and a proper centre-back. I'm pretty sure the club is making those three positions its priority in the next two transfer markets.

I still think City were stupid for selling Richard Dunne.Hes definitely better than Lescott who they bought for 24 MILLION.
