Y'got some explaining to do
Liverpool have new owners who have demonstrated that they will pay big money to get the player they want i.e Henderson. They also have a manager in Dalglish who improved the team dramatically when he took over last December.

Arsenal meanwhile have a manager unwilling to spend money for players that would improve the squad.Wenger has ignored the glaring problems in his team for the last three years. And whilst developing a team that does play beautiful football,he has a mentally weak side that bottles it when the pressure is on.Also your best player wants to leave for Barcelona.

Liverpool or Arsenal?

Tough choice
If I was I'm I'd pick Arsenal of those two but he will probably have a few other offers too. Plus both clubs would have to actually agree a fee first...not sure how much Arsenal would be willing to pay.

For Arsenal though perhaps it signals that somebody may be leaving this summer in that position. Obv rumours about Cesc and Nasri but I think I heard Arshavin might be sold too.

I think an Arsenal without Cesc will still finish above Liverpool.

It depends,if Arshavin goes as well as Clichy then Arsenal have a major problem. Also you're going to be without Van Persie for at least a month, its inevitable.

:(

I remember when we all used to call him Francesc. Then he started to be a 1st team player, and doing well, and so we began to adopt 'Cesc' as if he was one of ours. But in truth, he was always a Barca player loaned to us.

He should have Pat Sharp on the back of that shirt.

But yeah, I'm a Liverpool fan. :p

what is nasri's contract situation? 1 year left?
Yep and so far refusing to sign a new one. Not sure if it's purely down to wages (Arsenal have reportedly offered 100k so far) or something else. Think he can sign a deal with another club in January to move next summer.

As a United fan it would be great if we signed him but I think Nasri is just playing hardball with Arsenal to get a better contract.

Edit:There is no way Wenger would allow Cesc and Nasri to go at the same time.

He'd be a good signing for anyone, good player and looks like he will excel in the next few years.

I think he's trying to make some more money aswell, but also I reckon he wants to wait and see what happens at Arsenal this summer. Whether Cesc leaves or not and what Arsenal do to replace him and just improve the team generally. He'll want to be winning things so if he feels as though the club isn't moving forwards towards potentially winning things ASAP he won't want to sign a long term deal at the club which would mean he couldn't leave unless somebody offered massive money for him.

if i was nasri i would sign with serie A or la liga club (fab and nasri joining barca?) ... wouldn't wanna deal with facing arsenal twice (imagine the hate he will receive if he leaves arsenal for man utd)

There's speculation Liverpool have agreed a fee and that the Valencia friendly is part of the deal, but I think that's more in hope than anything at the moment.

If I was him I'd choose us over Arsenal, but I'm biased. Even trying to discount that though, I'd still choose us. Arsenal have gone longer than us without a trophy, and besides the league cup final they haven't done that much of note since the CL final in 2006.

Wenger seems unwilling to spend money to improve his squad (maybe Mata would be the start of a change to that), despite Arsenal being relatively healthy financially.

Liverpool have come through the H&G ownership and nearly going into administration, and are now on the up again. We have owners that are willing to back us with cash, and crucially, Dalglish and DC are willing to spend it to improve the squad, whereas Wenger seems content to stubbornly continue when it's been painfully clear signings are needed.

Apparantly there are rumours going around that United are interested in signing Thiago Alcantara from Barca. He's only 18 and has a buyout clause of 10m.Would be a great signing,he was one of the stars of the under Euro under 21's.

There was a report a couple of days back that a few PL clubs were interested. Can't see it myself. Why would Barca let him go. They are having to pay big money for Cesc now and they won't wanna make the same mistake again.

Even so, Arsenal would stand a decent chance of getting him in a deal for Cesc.

Would be awesome if we got him though.

For 5-10M sure, but not for more. In January he will have 6months left of contract, and then he will be free. There are 3 options, he leaves Arsenal now, he stays for good, or he leaves for free next year.

I could live with an "extended loan" for Thiago cause he'd solve a big problem in the center. keep him for 5 or so years and sell him back to Barca for a big profit.

Jonjo Shelvey seems to be set for Blackpool loan. Might be part of the Charlie Adam deal.
Stuart Downing is reported to hand in an official transfer request tomorrow.
Alcantra could be on his way to Chelsea.

He's 20 years old. His brother is 18 I think.

never heard thiago had a younger brother. is he better?

His father, and agent I guess, said that Rafinha Alcantara was a bit better than Thiago. Rafinha was more of a defensive mid, but last season he was moved to attack and had an awesome perfomance there.

Sad to see River go down... One of the things I want to do someday is see a River - Boca Superclásico in Argentina. Hopefully River's front office can sort things out (or *be* sorted out) and they can return to the top division soon.

Oh, never heard of him before this, seems promising. Barca are just filled with talented midfielders. hopeful united can produce a few too :)

I'd say thiago is not going anywhere unless he is part of the arsenal deal.

think they'd include a buy back clause in his deal? he seems like he could be a good replacement for Iniesta. Send him to arsenal for a couple of seasons, get him some experience and bring him back to barca just like with Cesc.

But I like Shelvey! Wouldn't object to his loan but hope the option isn't permanent. Doesn't work as hard as Spearing but seems to have a bit more skill.

Hopefully Downing chooses LFC, we need wingers :-\

Except the Cesc deal has worked out hugely in Arsenal's favor. They bought Cesc for next to nothing, got 8 fantastic seasons out of him and now he is worth excess 35million. But it doesn't matter since Arsenal will never accept that deal if there was a buy back clause there. We are not a training camp for Barcelona...

And will we finish higher than Liverpool next season without Cesc? I wish had the confidence but I don't. Cesc is just to crucial to our side. I honestly think that Wilshere and Ramsey need more experience and playing time with the likes of Cesc in order for them to improve their own skills.

We need to buy Cahill... I wish Wenger would just give Bolton their 17million so we can get on with it.
