He has said he welcomes Young's signing and is happy for the club to buy players for further success. He said he's been at the club competing for a place with Ronaldo before so he's happy to fight for his place again.

Nani won't panic. He is sensible and very well grounded. He knows the club and manager he is at value all their players and don't often give up on them. The second half of last season must have been tough for him but SAF is a manager who cares for his players and trusts them, and not just when it comes to football. Nani is showing his character by showing his will to fight for his place and isn't moaning, good character.

Yeah, Nani made a great point there. He was confident of his place in the team when he had Ronaldo to contend with. Why would he be unduly worried about Ashley Young? Competition for places is healthy, and hopefully this will push his development further. Also said he was fatigued during the latter end of the season coming back from injury. Likely one of the factors in why he was getting benched so often in favour of Valencia and Park for a while there.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! This can't be happening.......

i don't think anything has changed really- they will sell him for the right price, which has always been the case. it's really up to what barca is willing to pay.

And the trend of God awful shirts continues, rumoured Rovers away:

WTF Umbro

I really hope it's a fake, it looks like one of those generic shirts you can order for your Sunday league team.

I think it's real though, it's definitely going to be yellow and black and that style of Umbro shirt is being used a lot :(

great shot, poor goalkeeping :p

if both Cesc and Modric leave their teams, won't Arsenal & Spurs end up with quite a bit of money to spend on new signings? Every team with players in the Copa América will hope for a fat transfer fee I guess :p

I'm pretty sure if Cesc goes for 40m Arsenal will spend that. However they should be spending that 40m plus another 40m of their own..

Lot of rumours that Wickham is having a medical with SAFC. Hope its true, looks a quality prospect.
Sky bet have slashed their odds on him joining Sunderland. He's a decent looking player, but £10m seems a bit excessive, wouldn't mind losing out on him if thats the price.

I think another better company slashed their odds on him joining Liverpool earlier today..

*Waits for him to join Liverpool and watch the inevitable U-turn*

De Gea in Machester for his medical provokes sheetfail incident. Mail Online says it's a £17.8m deal. Also apparently a five year contract.

And, weirdly, I have that same exact shirt.

£8m rising to £12m is the talk. However they still owe us millions for Edwards and Leadbitter iirc + we got a chunk of the Chopra fee as they signed him this summer.

SAFC take our time to do things but I can't remember us being genuinely ripped off since Keane left... £8m for Ferdinand, £6m for McCartney... fuck me!!

News has it that Onyewu may be heading to Sporting. He's tall which is something that we sorely need in our defense so I hope they can make this happen.

Has there been any mention, word or whisper about Douglas Costa signing for Man Utd?
A few months back I thought it was a certain thing and he was the player I was most excited about us getting. Anybody know what's going on there?
He came to stay in Manchester towards the end of last season didn't he? There was talk it was a lookalike but I thought (hoped) that was a bluff from somebody :(

Last rumour i saw for him was a bid of cash + Denilson from Arsenal being turned down, not heard anything since!

Ribéry? are you stupid?
No, you?

Ribery is some iliterate little shit with a bit of talent. Whenever something happens that is not what he wants, he turns into that little aggressive asshole straight from a Banlieu, slapping and kicking opponent players.
And that's just what he does on the pitch.

Seriously? I agree that he isn't as game-changer as Robben is, but still. You can perfectly see the difference in the team when Ribéry plays, he makes the team play A LOT better. I haven't seen he slapping or kicking opponents in two seasons at least. He had a hard time because of his personal problems, but he's quite mature and an awesome player.

I don't think there's a better left winger atm, also. (Please don't come here saying Nasri...)

Guardian said that he was invited to Old Trafford, but it turned out that the picture wasn't of him. Basis for the whole hoopla was Ferguson tracking Costa when he was back in Brazil before he transferred to Turkey. However, since he's only really ever operated in the hole behind the striker I doubt we'll make the purchase. A player that can slot into the central midfield role in our system is needed.

That's even worse than ours, and that's saying something. What the fuck is going on over at UMBRO?

I went and tried the new away shirt on today. It's a nice fit around the body but the sleeves are a little baggy which ruins it slightly for me. They should have kept the fitted sleeves, just like the current kits.

I have a plain UMBRO shirt for gym and I hated the fit sleeves, thank god they learned the lesson.

He might be great in kicking a ball, but those incidents of him becoming aggressive happened a couple of times in the Bundesliga. Whenever he gets tackled or looses the ball to an opponent, he starts to wave his arms around or starts discussions with the ref. Really annoying.
Plus the shit he pulled in the French national team during 2010's WC doesn't throw a good light on him.
According to a few sports pages he insulted Hugo Lloris because the goalkeeper read a book and didn't want to play Playstation with the rest..

Wenger will use the proceeds to open an academy for 3 year olds in Cornwall and buy some more Gore-Tex jackets.
