i hope Zamparini sells Palermo to his oil Sheikh friend :(

Fantastic businessman. Terrible chairman. Amazing character.

I would welcome him to English football with open arms. Apart from his incredible outbursts, like the time he threatened to castrate his players, he also provides tribalfootball with a large percentage of their transfer rumours.

Whickham medical tomorrow, £5m up front, rest in clauses + wiping out the money they owe us for Leadbitter & Edwards. Excellent deal when you look at it like that but I'm sure the tabloids and people who hold some sort of grudge with SAFC will repeat the "£13m!!!!" line ad nauseum. Gardner apparently signing tomorrow too.

Still need 1 CM, a left winger, a proven striker, 2 full backs and a centre half though.

Surely you see the irony in your statement with half the football world harping on about Henderson's fee being "20 million" when that figure has been shot down numerous times by those actually involved in the deal.

shit club, pathetic behaviour. they know that if fabregas goes to barcelona, it's all over.
Barcelona did the same when David Beckham, c'mon.

If Man U offer 20mil for Nasri then let the guy go. Nasri is not loyal to us, he is doing neither the fans nor the club any favors with this contract crap he is pulling and imo he is easily replaceable.

Cesc on the other hand needs to be sold at his market value or not sold at all. Selling him on the cheap is going to infuriate me with Gazidis and Hil-Wood. I would sell to Real since they will obviously offer more and Fabregas wants to go back to Spain.

PS: I'm a neutral in this matter, I support neither Barca nor Arsenal, although I enjoy watching both play.

If I was Arsenal, I would probably offload Cesc to RM if they really meant 45 mil. From a neutral perspective on this whole saga, Barca doesn't seem to come out clean at all. They've been lowballing and trying all kinds of stuff to get Cesc on the cheap. And I think I've mentioned before that I don't even know why, they don't need another midfielder that bad.

It will be a fantastic troll by Wenger if he gets Cesc to put on a Madrid shirt though <wenger-problem?.gif>

That sounds awesome haha. I doubt Madrid would spend 35-40 million on Cesc though ? and it's not as if Cesc won't have a say in it.

It's good to see Bungieware again. :p

It has?.

As an Englishman, I think on paper that probably should be right.

In reality that's the biggest joke ever! I think FIFA are just playing us!

Btw, AVB press conference confirms last nights rumours that Di Matteo is new assistant first team coach. Very pleased, although I'd rather have had Zola he probably didn't want it. RDM is a good guy and Chelsea legend though so hopefully he can provide AVB with the support he needs.

I think they should leave places 4 to 10 blank out of respect for the top 3 ;)

Rijkaard is gonna coach Saudi Arabia for 3 years, cashing €7.7 million :/

More like scary stuff for everyone else in PL.

...really?

A manager who has never managed an EPL side or managed a Champion's League side teams up with a former manager of a side he might've got relegated.

Naturally I'm shitting myself.

Fuck that's an ugly kit. I don't think even Messi would buy that one!

Hey now :)

Seen it in the shop the other day...might be even worse in real life. I only buy barca keeper kits tho.

Yeah, there's a quote from Mancini saying they've had enough. The whole market is waiting for this deal to go through so we can get the transfer party started.

From OptaJoe: 11 - David de Gea conceded more goals to shots from outside the area than any goalkeeper in LigaBBVA last season. Signing #mufc

He'll still be good though, sadly

I think he'll come good but I don't see him getting off to the best of starts, United have some massive teams in their first few games, though they are at home. This could be an extremely awkward season for United, because their away form was atrocious last year but they had VDS to ride to their rescue.

God I cannot wait for the new season to start, it's going to be so exciting. Man U, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs will all be pushing hard for those CL places, then there are the promoted sides who I think are of a really good standard this year. At least it's almost time for the pre-season games.

Pleased with the De Gea signing, hopefully he finds his feet quickly and doesn't find his price tag daunting.

Seemed pretty clear he didn't want to go to City in the end so no wonder.

11.07: And yet more from Spain where Marca claim Lassana Diarra is desperate to join Man United but the Reds will not match the £23m asking price. Should they?

11.05: Now this is interesting. El Mundo Deportivo claim that both Manchester United and Chelsea have lodged £18m bids for Thiago. The stumbling block may be Barca's insistence on buy-back clauses.

Stuff's getting interesting.

Sanchez is saying now he would have went with them, now that they are out of the race.

Serious? I only saw it on the BBC and Guardian websites and it just talked of him a) Going to Barcelona or b) staying at Udinese, never saw any mention of him saying he'd go to City so news to me!

Reading too in those gossip columns that Barca may be interested in Nani if Sanchez doesn't go through, I'd still consider selling him even though he had a very good season last.

Cash plus Thiago Alcantara would be tempting.

I reckon Udinese have probably encouraged him to say that to try and keep the bidding war going. Didn't he refuse to board a plane for talks with City a few days ago?

Selling thiago seems like a mistake, he is a big prospect. Nani would be nice but i'd prefer sanchez. dont think nani is going anywhere either.

Sky News were talking about sanchez saying he would have went. seems like he was trolling.

Apparently they cancelled his flight to barcelona and he refused to fly to manchester. kinda getting sick of this fucking about.

I'm hopeful Chelsea will go in for Sanchez but whether we get him or not is a different matter.

AVB press conference also mentioned he was manager and in control of first team transfer is extremely encouraging!

Seen Man Utd have finally tied up De Gea. Fergie has bought well and reasonably cheap in the market as well. For players that are as young as they are im very impressed at the dealings.

€190M is crazy!
Well I hope you guys get Aguero and invest that money wisely. I grew up watching Juventus sides with Nedved, Zidane, Inzaghi and Del Piero, it doesn't feel right that a club of their reputation are languishing in the Europa League.

I'll be relieved if Sanchez does move to Barca and not the Premier League, it is very likely he will become of the world's greatest players at a bigger club. I am very disappointed that we didn't get him because it looks like we have tracked him since he was playing in Chile.

Ligue 1's website still has the article:

Ligue 1 said:
Promoted AC Ajaccio have stunned the French footballing community by announcing the transfer of Mexico international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa from Club America on a three-year deal...
Ajaccio, despite the smallest operating budget in Ligue 1 at just €16m, the Corsican outfit has landed a huge mercato coup with signature of the 25-year-old Ochoa, nominated for the 2007 Ballon d'Or for World Footballer of the Year.

A statement on the club's official website read:

"The suspense is over: Ajaccio can officially announce the signing of Mexcan international and Club America goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa for the next three seasons.

"A veritable star in his homeland, Ochoa is one of the most popular players in Latin America, since he came to fame in the 2-0 Copa America victory over Brazil.

"Guillermo Ochoa made his international debut in 2005 against Hungary and was a member of the Mexico squad at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

"Chased by Paris Saint-Germain and Olympiakos, the player has chosen Ajaccio."

Apparently the medical will not be done til tomorrow. They are probably waiting on that.

Mata replacing Nasri wouldn't surprise me in the least. Replacing Fabregas would be much harder, however.

I'd rather lose Fabregas than Nasri based on last season's performance. We can base our midfield around Wilshere instead.
