Hearing Downing is pretty adamant on moving. I doubt we let him go until we have brought in replacements. I predict he'll be a last week/day mover.
To be fair there have been hardly any deals at all so far this summer. Obv the window isn't even open on the continent yet but even within England there hasn't been much movement.Feorax said:Not long now to pre-season and all is still quiet at Melwood.
I know we intend to keep everything behind closed doors, but its not making a whole lot of sense at the moment. Kenny and Comolli seemed intent on having most of the signings done by pre-season, and yet all we have so far is Henderson and more "strong links" to Adam. Hardly the kind of deals I would imagine would keep Pepe around.
Maybe im overthinking this, and Im hoping well see some big coups over the next week or two, but I dont know, it's just not sitting well right now.
It's not as easy as that though. All the players we are linked with are also wanted by other clubs which obviously delays things.Feorax said:Not long now to pre-season and all is still quiet at Melwood.

Oh i completely agree, its just not what I expected from the promises of silently and quickly, in time for the pre-season.farhatraza said:To be fair there have been hardly any deals at all so far this summer. Nah its defo not open. Marveux was out of contract, and De Gea hasn't signed yet.Feorax said:Oh i completely agree, its just not what I expected from the promises of silently and quickly, in time for the pre-season.
Overall, been pretty shit for everyone though so far, you're right.
EDIT: and im not convinced about the whole international transfer window thing. Hasn't stopped Newcastle or Man Utd.

Not surprised. Suspect Steve Clarke will be taking that title.kharma45 said:

I'll probably just end up doing what you're doing. Only because of Based Forlan.

It's not like Fergie was going to allow Chicharito to play in both tournaments anyway. He would have missed the pre-season.
K1LLER7 said:Oh, thanks didn't know. iirc weren't spain invited but they declined. wouldve been good to see spain play brazil or argentina, oh well.
Anyone on here going to watch united play barca on their US tour? hope fergie trys nani and young.
Yep, I'm going. Hopefully gonna have some good pictures to post! Definitely interested to see if Fergie tries something tactically different...and (assuming he stays) I'd love to see what Berbatov could do against Barca, as well as Nani.K1LLER7 said:Oh, thanks didn't know. iirc weren't spain invited but they declined. wouldve been good to see spain play brazil or argentina, oh well.

As sad as it is to see Sammy leave the club again at the same time I think everyone expected it to come. Sammy is a great servant to the club but he isn't future, nor interim manager material. Clarke on the other hand is Kenny's right hand man and deserves the title and accolade of being the assistant manager, I think the players would also agree judging from how highly they've spoken of him in the last six months.kharma45 said:
Mata replacing Nasri wouldn't surprise me in the least. Replacing Fabregas would be much harder, however.PaulLFC said:From the Mirror, I'd take this as complete rumour for now, but:
Arsenal may lose both Fabregas and Nasri this week
I can't see it. Unless Wenger already has a clear idea of replacements / has signed someone and kept it under wraps, why would Arsenal let both players go so close to each other? Would have a serious effect on the team.

I can see us selling Fabregas if Barca cough up and pay what Cesc is actually worth but I can't see us selling Nasri to United.

If Man U offer 20mil for Nasri then let the guy go. Nasri is not loyal to us, he is doing neither the fans nor the club any favors with this contract crap he is pulling and imo he is easily replaceable.Plasma said:Same Mirror that exclusively revealed last week that we were signing Defoe.

How are Juventus financing these transfers, is it just from the expected revenues from the new stadium or cash reserves?
Tuttosport says Juves board meets today and are expected to rubberstamp a proposal for the club to make 120 million available for new signings PLUS another 70 million through a loan from Exor.
Andrea Agnelli, Juves president, has already convinced club backers Exor to make available the massive loan.
The new money will allow Juve to meet Atletico Madrids asking price for Sergio Aguero and help Marotta to compete in the top end of the transfer market.
