I remember loving that game to death back in the day. Can't remember enough to know whether that's primarily nostalgia speaking, though.
It was a fantastic game! Had indoor fields, incredible soundtrack and "hard" tackles. You could almost kill a man in that game.

Manchester City are pressing ahead with a £27million double bid for Arsenal pair Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.

City are close to finalising a £7m deal for Clichy and will offer the Gunners the kind of deal that will be difficult to refuse if Nasri, as expected, fails to agree new terms at the Emirates.

Clichy was pictured leaving a restaurant in Manchester on Sunday night and he prepares to become the first big name to walk out on Arsenal this summer...

£20 says that restaurant was San Carlo, a favourite haunt of Balotelli and Mancini. Even Dzeko was spotted in it just before he signed I think.

£7 mill. is the correct price for him. It also identifies how good he is.

Read: Not.

Clichy will be a good squad player. That means we can now get rid of Bridge. Mancini wants two good players for every position and we're pretty much getting there now!

Just need someone who can play where Silva does and that's Nasri!

no ref + injuries + indoor + hard tackles = a whole lot of fun

If Nasri leaves I'll be so sad, he is my favorite midfielder. Clichy also had his moments, but that speed on the left will be missed more than his defense. I pray we pick up a meaty center back, then clichy leaving wouldn't feel as bitter.

SSN correspondant outside of Carrington expects Clichy to have a medical this afternoon. He said they may even unveil him as a City player tomorrow morning so he can then train with the squad tomorrow which is the first day of training for City following the holidays.

People say Arsenal will drop out of the top 4 every year and they still prove everyone wrong. I expect it to be the same this year, though a bit closer.

Like you say it will be a little bit closer this year I think of will depend very much on Liverpool and Tottenhams seasons.
S an Arsenal fan it saddens me that every season we appear to have this transfer battle with at least one of our players, yes it has been fabregas the last few years running but I would like at least one quiet.summer without all the speculation.

Liverpool and Tottenham are the wild cards.

People have talked our chances to death but I think a lot of people are underestimating Spurs too. By the looks of things they've managed to convince Modric to stay, which by proxy should've convinced Bale so all they need to do is strengthen their weakest areas.

If Spurs can pick up a top striker such as Llorente, and they sure are trying, then they have that final piece of the puzzle. Maybe a second centre back to supplement Dawson and they really do have a shot at grabbing a CL place. With the way they play I'd much rather face a fully fit City at this current moment than a fully fit and firing Spurs, especially with those dangerous wingers.

Good signing. Hope we get Enrique now. Getting slightly concerned our reported targets seem to be heading elsewhere.

With any luck Wenger will sign him.

Not too bothered about losing Clichy he is a good player and I know a lot of people will parade his stats about but he was prone to numerous simple mistakes over the years that he never seemed to grow out of.

I just want us to start buying players, getting sick and tired of reading that every single one of our players are off, would like to see some solid signings being brought in.

Also not sure if it has been posted here yet but apparently Barcelona have decided to try and screw us over even more on the Cesc transfer. Now they're claiming that we still owe them £6m for those two youngsters that we already bought off them.

Why the hell did they abandon indoor soccer in FIFA?

I've never understood this is was great in FIFA WTWC (woooohoooooooooooo dededededdedede a woooooohooooo)

I don't want shit like FIFA street I just want the option to play indoors on a smaller pitch but without the game itself changing.

I'm not bothered about Fabregas or Clichy leaving, they have both had their best seasons for us (a long time ago for Clichy).

We should build our team around Wilshere next season and try and keep Van Persie fit for as long as possible (stop him going on International Duty!) as he is our most important player by far.

If arsenal does not win anything this season i'd say van persie is going to pull a nasri.

Wenger should have brought in a keeper and central defender by now. Arsenal still needs those players** even if Nasri, Clichy and Fabregas leave and if Wenger had managed to attract high quality signings then he'd have been able to quell the growing discontent in the squad.

**Unless Wenger is banking on a full season of Szczęsny and Vermaelen to solve the defensive woes—which means Arsenal is fucked.

I don't think he's that incompetent. Most likely not enough funds or no great players available. We don't need decent signings, we have a squad full of them, what we need is world class talent and its just not easy if you don't have a wealthy Arab

I disagree with the statement about needing a rich Arab for world class signings. You need a rich Arab for the most hyped players. There are good players around for less than 20M.

£8m. There will be plenty of players around for a decent price. Once we get closer to September the price will start tumbling on the Diarras and Adebayors of the world. The big clubs all have plenty of players to shift.

We supposedly have money to spend though. The Daily Telegraph said the other day that Wenger has £40m to spend + whatever we get for Fab, Clichy, Nasri etc

If we hang onto Cesc for another year I don't see why we can't win it.

Man Utd are buying over-priced english players, Man City have money but no intelligence on how to spend it, Chelsea have yet to reveal their hand but with Fabregas I am sure we can match whatever they bring to the table and Liverpool are better under Dalglish but still have a ways to go before being a threat to Arsenal as they are another one in over paying for english players. 35million for Carroll? Fuck off...

With the utmost respect, :lol.

That would suggest Arsenal have bought the best players they possibly can with the funds available to them. I can't believe that is true.

And I don't for a second believe there is not more money there for him. Maybe not 50m more. But definitely more than he has spent.

He has certainly turned a blind eye to some issues. Like not paying the extra 2m for Schwarzer last summer. That may very well have won the title itself.

Spot on. 2 million extra for one of the most consistent keepers in the league? It was an asinine decision, and cost them in the end.

Clichy will City's 6th signing of an ex-Arsenal since the takeover!

Toure, Adebayor, Taylor, Sylvinho & Vieira.

Clichy will be number 6.
Nasri number 7.

We've been told for years that Arsene has money to spend. If you assume that that figure was in the region of £30m, pure speculation of course, he's raised money from sales before. Adebayour and Kolo Toure left for in the region of £30m+ as well. If he WERE to sell Clichy, Fab and Nasri he could buy anyone he wants; I just doubt that he would.

Indeed arsenal's problem is wenger won't buy players, has needed a good goalkeeper for 3 years now and still hasn't bought one

Even though he insists the club do not want to sell its best players, I remember him admitting that the club is more inclined than normally to sell them to help speed up paying the stadium debt.

The lack of success in recent years, with the exodus now, significantly decreases the value of the club's image when we have to renegotiate with sponsors in the next year or two at a time where - only a few months ago - fans were expecting improved image rights for the club by Nike and others.

If we fail this season, we will certainly lose RVP and Arshavin.

OUT

Hleb, Nasri, Fabregas, Adebayor, van Persie, Arshavin, Clichy, Flamini

IN

Chamakh, Vermaelen, Squilacci, Koscielny and Carl Jenkinson

Yeah this has to be a big worry. Arsenal are already a little bit behind in the sponsorship money they earn. They're not exactly putting themselves in a position to win a really competitive deal. How much is Arsenal's deal with Nike worth? And what are the terms of the contract? United will be renewing their deal in a couple of years, rumours that we are looking for a 350m-400m deal over 10 years. Money money moneyyyyyy, moneyyyyy (8)
