Graham Hunter has said he's had it confirmed to him that more than one EPL club is in negotiations with Valencia for Mata. Liverpool and Arsenal you'd expect. City too probs.

£15million for Downing is a reasonable offer too, but it's Villa, so it'll be like the Barry situation all over again, except I doubt someone like City will come in for him this time. It's a huge shame that he couldn't sustain fitness at united, he has great ability to play well as an anchor in the midfield. Time will tell if Jones is going to be used more to fill that position than to play at CB, which could be an interesting decision.
Best of luck to Hargreaves wherever he ends up. As long as he stays fit he'll be a huge boost for most teams in the league.

No Rhyme or Reason to these Liverpool signings at the moment, they just seem to be signing anyone and everyone. None of them really link together, or compliment each other.

Not true at all. Whether you agree with it the 'rhyme and reason' is to buy quality British talent. And from what Mark Lawrenson said yesterday to a fan who met him, Kenny sees Adam as a player in the Alonso mould who can pick a pass from deep and can also control the tempo of the game. Charlie Adam at Blackpool did a good job, but he took everything, and touched the ball in every attack. His forced passing probably helped to set up as many goals for the opposition (via interceptions) then he managed to set up for his own team in open play.
He'll probably do well for Carroll via freekicks and corners, but I can't see him being much use in open play for Liverpool.
How does he link up with Henderson? Both are very similar players (both lacking any pace or any real defensive qualities).
Adam might link up well with Suarez, but then, Suarez does well by himself and yet while its early doors doesn't seem to link up well with Carroll.

No 'Winger', only one 'wide man' in Henderson. Vast majority of those players are very similar.
Just seems to be a case of signing someone because of hype, and perhaps Homegrown Rule.
How do Liverpool fans even see their midfield shaping up at the moment? With Carroll and Suarez you've got to think its 4-4-2; Adam on the left and Henderson on the right, Gerrard and Lucas in the middle? On paper that looks decent but if Dalglish has signed Henderson and Adam to play centrally, I'm very interested to see what he does.

Wasn't Barry one of the City players involved in the student party thingymajig. Anyhow, Kompany is a cool dude. £6m, now that's a deal, further proof there are players out there who Arsenal could afford and sign. How old is he? Can't be much more than 25?dc89 said:

So Adam to Liverpool is all but done. Decent player, not a big fan myself and now he's moving to Liverpool I'm an even lesser fan =) On a serious note, whilst he is a decent player with serious quality on set pieces...isn't that 8/10m pounds spent on a part of the team that is pretty stacked already? Can't help but think that money could have been better spent elsewhere. Even so, there are almost 2 months left in the window so let's see what all the squads look like then.
