Been out of the footballing loop for a couple of days and I come back to find Essien injured?! Come on...

Also this Man City stadium deal - not to sound overly cynical but the largest EVER stadium deal in ANY sport happens to come from the same area that the Man City owners are from? It sounds a little more than convenient.
Aye, such a shame with Essien, world class player on his day but he seems to be picking up some rather nasty injuries on a frequent basis. Not good for his first impressions with regards to Boas, the club may be reluctant to offer him a new contract.

Yes the Man City deal is as shady as it gets but I doubt there's much anyone can do about it. The system is there to be gamed, and Mansour could just go out and buy a million City shirts to gain revenue. Such a shame but I suppose that's what we've got to expect from those clubs purely driven by an excessive amount of spending power.

What do you guys reckon about the Cesc twitter message of saying he'll make it up to the Arsenal fans in Asia who wont be see him at the pre-season?

Yeah it's a huge shame - it might force our hand in the market now though, I've been a little concerned at the lack of movement though, saying that, AVB has only had one training session so far.

Also - for those that don't know - England v France in the Women's Wolrd Cup is LIVE on BBC right now. Good game so far.

De Gea #1, Jones #4 and Young #18

Also, Kuszczak and Gibson will not travel to US for pre-season (and no explanation given, unlike Fletcher), possible sign of leaving soon.

Nasri travelling with the arsenal squad for pre-season. Bendtner, eboue and almunia staying behind.

The problem with this statement = fucking Denilson is included in the squad. Why would we bring that idiot with us? Ship him off already! Somebody. Anybody! Take him away!!!

I don't watch a lot of women's football - but there's some real standout players. Kelly Smith for England looks a top player - but some of these French girls can play! As you said 14 and... 17 I think as well? The one who hit the bar.

And she's SO good looking...

To be fair, the alternative to circumventing the new financial rulings was to go into the club shop and buy a bendy pencil for £100m..

Does anyone have a website for the women's world cup? I want to look at results so far, highlights, players and teams etc but I'm coming up short.

Fake edit - found one

Also - for people who have been watching the tournament so far - who are the standout players? I'm looking for a football related avatar as well - so which footballing ladies are good looking?

My favourite gals are Necib and Thiney from France. Notable mention to Marta and some of the Brazilian gals.

They were looking good for most of the second half. Tried to hang on to the 1-0 lead and brought on defensive players.

That England striker who is supposed to be our star player just booted the ball off the pitch for no reason at all. And the right back is just kicking the ball as hard as she can!?!

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
It's funny how similar the English mens and womens teams are. Neither really has the guile to play through continental opposition. A decent team doesn't try to hold on for the shootout. I think we have some decent players out there but they are surrounded by ordinary players that strangle the potential of the team.

What's wrong with the current #1?
joe hart is decent makes mistakes at times but he's still young and can improve. in general most eng keepers make alot of mistakes.
hope the only mistakes he makes are for man city next season ;)

Always annoys me when referees let people take corners/free kicks/throw-ins when time is already up. It's not part of the rules. When time's up blow the whistle.

I hate it when ref's let United play on till they win.
