According to Wenger, part of the reason that Clichy was allowed to leave was because Gibbs needs to play.

This isn't really looking good for us as far as signing a replacement.

oh boy. Nani, Valencia and Young are going to enjoy taking turns on him

Wanna know why bicycle kicks are almost never scored? Because good defenders would never give a player that much space. He was wide open in that video.

But it's awesome when one actually goes in.

Oh here comes some fun right here! Barca to make a 50 million bid for Bale. Maybe they will leave Cesc alone and give Tottenham a headache instead. Supposedly it's going to take them a year to get the deal done.

Source

hahaha! On the same note, I'm about to have a baby over this Cesc fiasco. Arsene is purposefully stopping this deal while saying he knows Cesc wants to leave. Either let him leave or let him stay and damage your club further!

Same thing with Tevez. That drama queen should be let go of. I don't think it's the club he's not happy with but football in general. It's a waste of talent, but if he wants to leave let him!

Cesc has been very loyal to Arsenal and his desire to play for Barca has not hindered his performance whatsoever. He has consistently been our best player the last 3 seasons regardless of Barca's interest. How bout those greedy cunts pay what he's worth? Until then, we aren't ruining anything.

Surely even Wenger doesn't truly believe that. Gibbs is both shit and made of glass.

Haha that's what happened to me when I started reading that article and then got further down. I don't believe Gibbs is shit, but he is seriously way too fragile to be seen as guaranteed. Can't really say I am surprised by the decision however.

I'm probably not the best person to comment, being a Spurs fan, but pretty much every time I saw Gibbs last season in the PL he was cack. Just too weak and a complete liability. I suppose he did alright in that league cup match at WHL :(

There is somebody who might be able to play at LB instead of Gibbs, though...

Don't even get me started on Eboue. We should have let him go to Fiorentina when they asked about him. Hopefully Jenkinson will end up being good so we don't have to play Eboue when Sagna is out.

Yeah, Gibbs didn't look great when he played most of last season. He looked about as lost as Clichy does. Like I said earlier, I think Gibbs could be a great winger. Most of my good thoughts about him are the accurate crosses he's made and his work up front.

Oh c-mon, Gibbs was crap last year and was left horribly exposed on several occasions in every game he played. It won't matter how good our goal keeper is when you have players like Gibbs who don't defend and seem to be in no mans land all the time.

Can you imagine the hiding we are going to get if we turn up to face Barcelona or Real Madrid with Gibbs starting? I don't know if I will be able to take the pain of watching the hiding we will get. We can have all the attacking stars in the world but with a defense as fragile as ours we are not going to win. I can't believe Wenger came out and said that, it's like last year and the fans out cry is teaching him nothing....

All I can say is that if we win nothing this upcoming season and have the same failures as every other season I really hope that Wenger gets given his marching orders. Seriously, he's had enough time...

I am not 100% sure but isn't Wenger's contract up this season? I know it's soon. As much as I would hate to say it, I completely agree with you. I would really love to see him stick around though. I think he could be very important for the club, but he's said before he wants to coach and not to direct.

Please tell me this is some more Goal.com bullshit.

Sky Sport Italia claims Nasri is set to join Roberto Mancini's side for a fee of €25 million [£22.2m], with the player believed to have been offered a contract worth €6m [£5.3m] a year - over £100,000 a week.

Source

There have been reports all day about Arsenal offering Nasri 110,000 a week to meet what he wanted. I find it very hard to believe he would just leave to go to Manchester City for 10 thousand a week less and all the reports of Arsene saying he would fight to keep Nasri only today.

Well, in any event:

Yeah I just saw that. I guess the rumors of us offering a better deal are true, but I guess he didn't accept it. If this is true that't bullshit. If we had just offered him this amount before, things might be differently.

City will win the league this way, fuck it.

edit: assuming Nasri goes to them.

Machester City - Tevez + Nasri does not equal winning the league. He couldn't help us do it and we practically had our hands on the trophy.

Breaking News:
Sky Sports News understands that Samir Nasri has told Arsenal he wants to leave the club. Stay with us for more details.

That has just magically disappeared from SSN live transfer rumors feed.

LOL. Nasri is not that good. He likes to think he is but he is not.

But you gotta admit they are buying their way to the top just like Chelsea did. It will happen eventually.

Except Chelsea did it with better players and a coach who didn't wear stupid scarves.

If Nasri does go chuck the money at Valencia or Lille for Mata or Hazard and i'm fine with it.
Arshavin and Walcott on 'bad' seasons still each had more goals and assists combined then Nasri did.

It was on there for about 5 minutes, but then it disappeared.
Perhaps they reported something that they were not supposed too?

If they learn how to spend intelligently, then maybe, but as it stands they are buying players who are not worth it. They need to spend wiser and replace their coach. Mancini is not guiding anyone to the premier league.

I think the problem with Nasri leaving is that I am afraid Nasri will leave and then Wenger will do no such thing. I think Wenger knows that Arshavin is not a starter and is more of an impact sub (Walcott too, but I think he's getting better), but who knows what he will do.

Contracted for three more years, I'm pretty sure.

Fake edit, yes till June 2014: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/ars-ne-wenger-signs-contract-extension

At this point we just need to accept they both want out and sell them. We need time to buy replacements and dragging this out until they both leave at the end of the window only hinders our club.

We need to start planning how to progress without them.

Are you sure, I've just turned it on and no mention of it anywhere.

I wouldn't worry too much about anything SSN says. A few days ago "Sky Sources" had informed them of details which led to "Sky understanding" that Nasri was close to joining City. Tonight, these "Sky Sources" have again given Sky reason to "understand" that Nasri wants to leave. Well thank the Lord for that, I had no idea Nasri wanted to leave. The bit on Cesc was even better, Sky understand that Barcelona want him. NO WAI!?

Channel is getting shitter every day.

Is there any reputable football news site? The only one I think is better than others is Eurosport, but that's only because they are more of an aggregator for news, and they seem to actually look at the news before they post it.

Frankly speculation is speculation. Nowhere is particularly reputable as everyone is quoting everyone else. If you want to avoid it then only pay attention to done deals.

As Laboured says, it's all unconfirmed, so it's hard to tell. In general though I trust the BBCSport team more than any other. If a story appears on their website, it's probably got good grounding. They report all rumours in the rumour mill. Anything more concrete will have a dedicated story. Sites like Sky increasingly report rumours, even from tabloids, as main stories.

Local Journalists tend to know the most about their respective teams. Fair few are on twitter too.

I'd say there's too many in the London area... ;)

No offence, but why are arsenal becoming a feeder club to man city?

says the man utd supporter who wants nasri on their books

Having said that, I wouldn't be down if we didn't get him.

I propose opposite week, nobody is allowed to talk about their own club

Disclaimer: This is because I don't give a shit about City but nobody else cares about Rovers.
