Downing is a necessary signing for Liverpool. He is similar to Antonio Valencia, covers a lot of ground, is very good at delivering in crosses and beating the full-back.

£20m isn't a bad price if his wages aren't outrageous.

They were? But I thought you guys were buying based on 'clever' stat based decision making. Frankly I think you've been taken for a ride again on another over-priced Englishman with less than a whole good season under their belt but time will out.

16mil + plus add-ons for a 21 yr old Henderson and a price yet to be confirmed for Downing, yet we've been robbed yet again oh noessssss sound the alarms!!!!!!!

Mirror is reporting that United have agreed on terms with Sneijder. £35 for the transfer and £190 a week. Fuck us if true......
don't worry you have Mikel ;)
if the mirrors the only one reporting, don't think its true.
Would blow my mind if fergie announced after the game they've signed him.

Definitely, and that's a tantalising thought when you have Carroll in the box. He scored in our friendly today too. Aquilani played really well also.

Sneijder to United would be a crazy good signing, especially for those terms. Who would start alongside him, Carrick or Fletcher?

Bit of education for you.

Raphael Honigstein said on Talksport earlier that Marko Marin would cost about £7 million. Apparently Werder Bremen have no money to sign players at the moment.

Please, God no. :(

Ha, I'd wait 'till a non-tabloid source confirms it--that is, the complete opposite of the Mirror--before despairing.

De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Welbeck and Chicharito are being given longer holidays because of the U21 championship. They'll all be back for the last two pre-season games on United's American tour against the MLS All-Stars and a Messi-less Barcelona.

If you had limitless amounts of money I'd say there's no problem, but you really don't. The only player you've bought of late for a good price is Suarez. The rest I've felt have been for inflated prices. Henderson may only be 21 but if he flops then you'll only make a loss on the guy at that price. Same with Carroll and Downing.

Fletcher or even Phil Jones. Going to be pissed if he doesn't turn up now after all these rumors.
When does the United Friendly kick off?
In 45 min (1AM in the UK)

barely a week ago the mirror's football department completely fabricated a c. ronaldo interview, do we really forget so easily.

i'm not sure about sneijder, he's a great great player who i'd love to watch every week of course so i'm obviously not going to complain too loudly if these rumours bare true, but even so he costs a lot, would play a somewhat similar role to that of rooney in our best team as a number 9, and as our forward line is already strong i'd rather we focused on a deeper lying creative like modric or a strong defensive midfielder.

Simply not comparable in any way. I'm not saying no one else buys flops but yours will be very costly if they don't work out somehow.

got work in the morning so I'll leave you with this, I'm sooo sure in my mind that FSG, Kenny and even Damien realise the risks but they are faced with improving the squad as quickly as possible as well as adhering to the FFP rules, so these risks have to be taken (even tho Downing is 27 so I don't exactly know how that 1 works)

until next time.

anyways, like Tim the wiz has already mentioned that Chico should be reporting soon to Manited's squad later on this month. He might come sooner though considering the fact that Berbasex is there and he might take away his play time. :p

I'd take a punt on Marko Marin at that price. But the guy came out a couple weeks ago saying he didn't want to leave Bremen and was very happy in Germany, I think he was also negotiating a new contract. If LFC didn't take a chance on him at that price I'd be worried, but I somehow doubt he'd be available for that.

Also I doubt it's £20m for Downing, probably less but with add-ons that could potentially get it to that price. His stats are good and he was Villa's best player against us on the last day.

People also seem to forget that we have dynamite in the youth team. Downing's age (26 I think) means that he can have an understudy from said youth system that has hopes of playing and being number one when he gets older. If we got Marin then it'd effectively shut out one of our younger lads if he was awesome. Not that we'd care too much, but it bears thinking about. I'd still love to see us sign Juan Mata, but N'Zogbia would make me just as happy if we could get him for a decent price. Doubt it with Dave Whelan in charge and Wigan still in the league though.

Edit: Downing also submitted a transfer request like Modric has.

56% - Downing, Adam & Henderson created 239 chances in the PL last season, equivalent to 56% of Liverpool's 2010-11 total (429). Blueprint.

This just being speculative theorizing because the deal is far from confirmed: I'd be interested to see whether Fergie would adapt to a 4-3-3 at times to integrate both Sneijder and Rooney in positions they like. Fletcher roving in behind a more static Carrick, giving Sneijder the mobility to play in a free role. Rooney as the false nine, perhaps not as deep as he played last season, with Young, Nani and perhaps Chicharito or Valencia used as wing-forwards.

However, I'm pretty sure we'd still use the 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 primarily. Same as usual, except Sneijder operating in that midfield two or three. Given his fitness levels at the moment, obviously Carrick and Anderson would start ahead of Fletcher in the midfield two next to Sneijder, but it's Fergie, so you'd get a healthy amount of rotation nevertheless. The potential midfield three of Sneijder, Giggs and Carrick would be pretty slick, too.

Modric handed in a transfer request apparently.

Well, according to the Mail Online, at least. Unfortunately, they have proven me wrong before. That would be pretty crazy, though. And I'm sure Chelsea wouldn't be the only interested party if Modric did put in the request.

Messi on USA tour update: purchased ac Milan home kit w/ ibra and brazil home kit w/ ronaldinho on order ( I don't care if he no longer plays for them. :p

Edit: come on barca confirm the sanchez deal.

Redknapp said earlier today that it wouldn't change anything if he handed in a transfer request, so this is a none story. They know he wants to leave, they don't need it written down on paper. But he's on a contract and the answer was a no, unless Chelsea offer crazy money that Spurs can use to replace him - why should they sell him?

Here we go. Hopefully, our away form doesn't follow us across the Atlantic.

Don't worry it won't at least not in this first game. The Revolution are SO FUCKING BAD
just like the rest of the MLS
, really the MUFC academy squad should be able to beat them.

A pretty lousy MLS team (Kansas City) beat them 2-1 last year playing with 10 men...
