Football Thread 2011/12 |OT7| Avaya ever heard anything like it?

I know right? There's some sources on Twitter saying he's signed a new contract with us. I would take any twitter source with a pinch of salt though, obviously.
I hope it's true but I just can't see it.

He's been totally dropped from the squad for the last few weeks. Apparently he's not even been training with the first team. To come back from that would be quite a turn-around.

Anyway, the last official word was from Ferguson pre-Bilbao and all he said was "I don't know anything about it".

Oh god...

Wait, Sicily instead of Cyprus how...?

edit: oh so they entered "Nicosia" in their map search and chose a small city in Sicily instead of the capital of Cyprus.

I just watched Tintin (movie) for the first time. Very fun, good memories too!
I'm guessing the people that didn't knew Tintin before the movie can't enjoy it so much.

No, I had a reasonable amount of alcohol and can post on GAF without looking like more of an ass than usual. :)

I loved Tintin, saw it in 3D and it was great. I was upset it wasn't at the Oscars this year.

It was a very fun movie to watch, but it just wasn't something 'amazing' IMO.

And yes!

btw, in the Championship league just one match is missing, I believe Messi and some other guy are the ones still to play it. hurry up, please, I want to play a couple of matches more before my xbox live ends :(!

Been playing so much ME3 I barely even jump into this thread. This game has consumed me.

I keep doing side quests even though I have enough military readiness for the best ending as it is. God help me :(

Also, Infiltrator > all

If what is being said is true about his drawback of being a bit loose with possession in critical spaces, he's could actually be set for a couple of runs. Because we don't have midfield possession to lose, at the moment.

This season has pretty evidently shown that we need to go back to playing 4-3-3 in Europe. Athletic demonstrated the qualities that we've been letting slide in the past few seasons: fluidity in the final third, speed and overloading in the counter-attack, interchangeability up front, combined pressing without the ball, treasuring possession with the ball, etc. Yes, we lose the lethality of Rooney playing in the hole behind Chicharito, but it's best to save that for the PL - being one of the most clinical teams around isn't enough in Europe. Whether it's Pogba or Petrucci or a new signing, we need to integrate at least two or three composed, intelligent central midfielders into the squad over the next few seasons, especially with Giggs and Scholes in their twilight, Carrick around the corner, Anderson an enigma and Fletcher potentially perma-crocked. Cleverley is a good step in that direction, I suppose.

WTF! context?

Chilavert said :

'Get up, Indian'. After that, when they scored he touched his genitals to provoke me."

"When the match was going to end he pointed to the scoreboard and when the game ended and we were going to greet each other he told me: 'Indian, we have won 2-0, you are a disaster' and he hit me.

"That's when I defended myself and I spat at him."

I definitely think we'll buy. I think Petrucci will go on loan before he comes in.

Ideal signing is Laure Boulleau. I may get her name on a shirt anyway.

Javi Garcia just signed a big new contract at Benfica. He's a bit of a mentalist (I dunno, maybe rvy will agree) and I don't know if he would have been right for us as a tough DM.

Get Nuri Sahin. That's it.

Javi Garcia and Nuri Sahin are two different kinds of midfielder. Ones a DM the other really more of an attacking midfielder. What do Utd need in the midfield really? I guess one could argue that their midfield could be improved in several areas, but they're unlikely to bring in more than one player given Utd's recent history.

I personally would think that the best kind of midfielder for them to have would not be one of the more specialised types that one sees so often but a traditional centre-mid, someone equally comfortable going forward and defending. This is largely based on the 4-4-2 formation, if Utd did want to go back to a 4-3-3 then they would probably be best off with a DM. The best traditional centre-mid in the world right now I think is Xabi Alonso, whilst he does sit pretty deep he is someone who can do anything required in the centre. Yaya Toure is another i think who is more traditional though he tends to play in either a DM or AM position. Both of those players are unavailable however so I guess United would need to look elsewhere; I personally can't really think of too many who fit the traditional mold and are good enough.

There's a difference between a DM and a CM. Schweinsteiger, Vidal and Nuri Sahin are CM, for example but they also know how to defend... Xavi is a CM too but I believe he is very poor in defense. DM is a pure defensive player like Luiz Gustavo, Lass, Makelele, Tymo, etc.

The attacking midfielders are another kind like Kroos, Ozil, Goetze, Iniesta, etc.

United need a RW. Preferably with blonde hair.

We're actually going to use him in CB tomorrow

United need a Creative midfielder/Playmaker in the mould of Silva more urgently. Carrick has been excellent this season and we can work with him for a couple of yrs more, but we have creative force in the Midfield. Rooney is good but thats not his best position.

Karl Henry hopes to recover from injury in time to face Manchester United.

Just don't kick anybody, you big twat. We can't afford it.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has vowed to keep growing his beard until his club win the Premier League or Spain win the London 2012 Olympic football tournament.

Silver lining if we get done for the league: Dave's beard. Spain should smash that Olympic tournament, tho.

Chelseagaf, any thoughts about the first non-AVB PL game? I expect us to be more fun to watch at least.

On the topic of De Gea, I love the guy, even though he's a United player. UNNGGHG!! But really - on Thursday's game he played like he was the most experienced United player <3 He's so young that I wonder if he'll spend the rest of his career with United?

Yay, more Tintin love :) Can't wait for the sequel by Peter Jackson.

'For the third Athletic goal, the one Muniain scored, the defence was asleep,' said De Gea, who has faced his fair share of criticism this season. 'Rafael had fallen asleep. Some of my team-mates were a bit sleepy at Old Trafford. We played really badly and Athletic will beat you if you make it easy for them.'

Good lad. I don't mind the straight talk about Raf.

Chelsea have a 100% home record in this seasons CL & have yet to concede at Stamford Bridge.

Napoli scored 17 goals in their last 6 games.

C'mon Yurt, you are talking about the inevitable that us Chelsea fans will experience next week :'( Though I am surprised they have not conceded a goal in the CL yet.

Oh and as Woodenlung said, interesting photo lol! Looks like they are in pain from all that ball banging!

Pirlo :p?

Watching MUFC under 18s to see this Barmby Jr and Mats Moller Daehli.

Louisa Nécib is cool too, as FWNT goes. I dunno why Gaëtane is asking her what position Laure likes.

Guys, guys... MAss Effect 3 is... Man, I have no words. Epic shit flying and blowing around while dudebros suck each others dicks (or pussy in my case) and you keep on firing alien mofos.

How is it compared two? I'm finishing all the loyalty missions from the second game at the moment. Great game! I only wish there was more story like there was in one.

I think that Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games games of this gen.

Well, Mass Effect 3 is so far one of the best games I've ever played.

And don't worry, the story is more like first one, is better written and decisions have actual consequences.

I actually think we need a solid DM more than anything else.

So far, it's way way way better than ME2. ME2 is crap so this corrects a lot of things that they messed up on in that game.

For example the writing is SO GOOD. I've laughed so much at the dialogue because it's genuinely funny. Characters are written very well. Not much "daddy issues" and pointless loyalty shit in this one. It's about the war. It's awesome.

Vanguards are monsters.

Time for academy hype. Recover from a loss to Barnsley. Mash Sunderland.

lol Arthur Albiston: "Odemwingie, well, you think he's going to score every game he plays".

I dunno about that quite yet, Arf.
