If we're going to use stats (in all competitions):

Lewandowski in the past year: 30 goals, 10 assists, 43 appearances

Chicharito in the past year: 13 goals, 2 assists, 23 appearances

So were the Angelo Henriquez stories all bullshit then? I highly doubt United would go for Lewandowski. I'd love to have him at United but it would impede the progress of Welbeck and Hernandez.

I'm also slightly concerned that SAF still has it in his mind that Kagawa will be a wide player next season.

I do have a niggling feeling we're going to stick with 4-4-2. Kagawa can play behind one striker if we're doing 4-4-1-1 I suppose...

Oops, posted this at the bottom of the page. For the new page:

Made a Picklive league for the Euros if anyone's interested in joining. Similar to fantasy football except it seems you can pick whichever players you want for your starting 11, and the points and league table for the game update live in play. At least, that's what used to happen, the last time I played it was a while ago.

Anyway, if anyone's interested: League link (free entry)

This runs for the whole tournament, but we could always do one just for the knockout stages if this is too short notice.

Entry deadline is 5pm GMT if you want to join for the first game of the tournament. Short notice I know, sorry.

Main difference is you get points for pretty much everything that happens:

Yeah, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Javier Hernandez are fantastic passers that score all their goals from 35 yards.
It would be cool if all people thought like you. That way we could keep that shitty striker Lewandowski without a problem and there would be no rumors every other day.
Lol Ruud Van Nistelrooy was much more than a guy who just tapped the ball in from 6 yards, seriously you think otherwise??

You don't have to score brilliant 35 yards screamers to be world class, the point is United already have a guy in Hernandez who is better in the box than Lewandowski, and even tho Hernandez isn't great at passing the ball he still managed a 82.7% passing accuracy in the premier league, which is much higher than Lewandowski managed in the Bundesliga.

At that point just put Kagawa at Left Back. Evra replaced.

What a signing he will be

Wait and see how the Liverpool boa constrictor turns out.

Next year's their year

I think he was a guy that's strengths lay in the penalty box. He's probably my favourite ever player, but a lot of his game was based on back to goal, lay it off and race towards goal.

Hernandez played half the games with half the time on the ball as Lewandowski. Count offside stats. Goals. Assists. Time on the ball.

What do you mean by 'already'? You're saying you don't need a striker because you have Rooney and Javier?
United already have Rooney, Hernandez & Welbeck. Why buy another expensive striker who is similar but worse than one you already have?
The best thing is that the stat he's posting about is totally wrong lol

The official Bundesliga stats say 74.2% accuracy
According to - http://www.whoscored.com/Players/29400 Lewandowski's combined passing stats for the season are just 63.2%. His Bundesliga passing stat is 70.6% (which is still very poor compared to most other 'top players') Hernandez who is only considered 'average' at passing has a season average of 86.4% and his premier league average is 82.7%.

Hernández>Lewandowski

Again, ignoring the most important stats for striker. But don't worry guys! We are comparing them as if they were midfielders!!!

Barry probably has one of the best passing rates in the league. He's better than Toure for sure.

Ok, between this and the monkey chants thread, I'm getting off NeoGAF for awhile. Is this what Gaming side is always like? It hasn't even been an hour into my day.

In between flicking through the EURO racism thread and doicare's comment my brain is really starting to ache. Oh well, at least we've got football to watch for the next few weeks :D

Went to see Coldplay at the Stadium of Light last night, I think it says a lot that their flashing wristbands are the best part of that show.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez does not believe Jose Mourinho will earn his place in football history.

Mourinho is one of only three coaches, along with Ernst Happel and Ottmar Hitzfeld, to have won the Champions League with two different clubs and could stand out on his own if he leads Real Madrid to their tenth European crown.

Xavi, though, believes Mourinho's pragmatic approach to management means he will not be ranked in the same category as Pep Guardiola for future generations.

"Mourinho will not go down in football history," he told Reserved Area on Canal+. "For me, Guardiola is the best and has been the best during the four years he spent in charge.

"He has revolutionised football. Chelsea won the Champions League this year and yet Barca remain the benchmark for world football."

Xavi also said that Lionel Messi would be the only deserving recipient of this year's FIFA Ballon d'Or.

There have been suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo, having helped Madrid to La Liga, could take the crown if he excels at Euro 2012 but Xavi said of Messi: "He's the best player I've seen in my life.

"It would be an injustice if any other player won the Ballon d'Or, because no other player is at his level. Messi has helped me to become a better player."

It´s starting to get easy to hate everyone at Barcelona, they are becoming a bunch of arrogant bastards.

Paradise is a pretty good song, I'll give Coldplay that. But apart from that, they haven't done anything good since Rush Of Blood To The Head.

Becoming?

Juve have announced that next year's kit will have no stars on it, but under the logo there will be written '30 sull campo' (30 on the pitch)

WTF happened in these last pages?

Fucking on to the Euro's I don't give a shit about the teams playing today but you can bet I'll be watching.

And if all goes according to plan I should be getting my order from SoccerTriads today as well.

Also anyone read about 007 being at the Olympics opening ceremony as a part of Skyfall. Then after they will show a short film involving Bond in the Queen's castle, apparently they had access to a lot of secret rooms for the film.

We have a first option on Henriquez. Press jumping the gun on a slow news day, alongside the Modric guff. And the Polish manager was just muppetin' and making a point about the growth of certain players, who could play anywhere outside BVB, like Lewandowski.

Didn't Kagawa intimate in an interview that Fergie spoke of his admiration for the way he played in the hole behind the striker? Rooney's been struggling in that position creatively (outside of wide, lofted passes - although the 30+ goals aren't too shabby), with some frustratingly poor first touch, in particular, so: 4-3-3, baby. But even if Fergie gets stubborn about the 4-4-2, Kagawa will do fine drifting in as a winger, even if it would be a waste of his abilities.

I hadn't heard about that but sounds good. Quantum Of Solace was so shite, I want a return to Casino Royale form.

If you're a Barcelona player then you have every right to be arrogant as fuck.

I love Xavi sometimes but he comes across as such a petulant wanker a lot.

Check out the Skyfall thread in OT, by far the best thread in there as it's packed with every possible tidbit of info about the movie. And everyone tags potential spoilers.

Yep, a very meaningless stat when significantly more of Hernandez's appearances have been as a substitute and Lewandowski has started all of those games.

But if you want some more fun stats, over the past two years for club and country:

Hernandez - 110 games, (41) as a sub, 53 goals, 2.08 games played per goal scored

Lewandowski - 99 games, (26) as a sub, 44 goals, 2.25 games per played goal scored

Hernandez>Lewandowski

Again, ignoring the most important stats for striker. But don't worry guys! We are comparing them as if they were midfielders!!!

What you just listed didn't prove your point at all actually. Also, you left out assists which are an important piece to the puzzle. I did look it up you fucking moron.

Man, Japan ran rampant over Jordan tonight. What a game that was.

They've become so fluid and effective since Zaccheroni took over as manager. I understand he'll want to move on at some point, but not yet, please. Japan has been so great under him - scoring lots of goals, nice passing, teamwork, etc.

I knew about the first option clause but was just wondering where the media got their info from. It does seems that they've jumped the gun a bit.

4-3-3 would probably be the best formation to use I agree.

4-2-3-1 as a variation of this. Buy a deep lying midfielder and play him alongside Carrick, with Shinji, Nani and Valencia behind Rooney

Kagawa said that's where Ferguson planned to play him, behind the striker.

Yeah, winning the Copa Del Rey gives you that right. We all know that´s the big thing in football right now.

Deliberately missing the point isn't really helping the argument.

I don't really have any particular like for Barcelona but it's understandable why some of them would be arrogant. Success breeds arrogance and this Barcelona side are one of the most successful of all time.

I think what upsets me most is that someone posting on an internet forum is making me legitimately frustrated, and I can't use the ignore function because I end up reading the posts anyways because I don't have the willpower to not read what's under the lid.

Fuck me.
