I was surprised when I saw the hits going in. It was really physical.

As you said, it was like rugby. There was a head on head collision which looked pretty nasty from where I was watching.
Yea. That wouldn't feel good. I like hearing the lacrosse is over there too though.

So many of you mugs are 6ft +

I am afraid that I would have to compensate for my incapacity in the air with some Charlie Adam business.

Play as a sweeper/RB. No left foot.

Media being a bit harsh on RVP it was only 1 game. He can redeem himself by aiding us in beating Germany on Wednesday. I have faith in RVP!!!!!!!!!!

Missed some shockers yesterday, Haven't payed much attention to the Netherlands but I've heard he is poor while playing. Don't agree with the people in here saying he isn't great though.

If we played 5 or 11 a side I'd be picked last and rightly so. I'm awful as bad as they come.

Having said that, the kids club I manage is super successful. But that's down to the coach, who used to be a youth coach at Tokyo FC. We've never lost a tournament!

Great player with Arsenal but misses way too many chances playing for The Netherlands. Some TV analysts said that he seems to play way more confident with Arsenal. Mainly because the team is build around RVP. In the Dutch squad he's thinking too much and is handling speed is lower.

At the WC in South Africa it was just like the match against Denmark. Too bad his real talent won't come out when he's playing for the national team.

This is how I think. Huntelaar is much better for the Dutch team because with Robben, Sneijder and the other midfielders attacking relentlessly, you need your striker to have lightning fast reactions and be really good at following up deflections and making tap-ins.

RvP is wonderful for Arsenal because they play to his strengths while Holland does not. Holland is basically made for Sneijder.

lol. He was never going to get his chest up to that. Craziness.

Something about the recess for the patella being too shallow. They used to just dislocate whenever they wanted. In for a tackle: bang. Walking out onto the pitch: bang.

Oh man that sounds awful

That sounds horrific.

I strained my knee ligaments during a match a couple of years ago.

I have never been in so much agony.

Yeah. Braces did nowt. The first specialist got me doing crazy amounts of physio to build up the muscle around there, but it had pretty much no effect.

The surgeon who did both knees told me I had almost no chance of getting back to proper adult football - that was pretty much the whole extent of our discussion, because he was one of those godlike figures who hardly even talks to nurses. He was a cunt, but he clearly did a better job than he thought, because the knees are pretty legit. They sound like someone scrunching up cellophane when I bend them, and the scars itch, but they work. Years of repetitive dislocation murdered a lot of the cartilage, and I expect to suffer when I try and kick around in my late thirties/forties, but hey.

Yeah, he did miss some shockers and while the team doesn't completely play to his strengths he is far too good a player to be on the bench. The Denmark game was weird though because some of the shots he missed were sitters and he scored way more difficult goals than that for us all season. It was depressing seeing that happen to the player because he didn't deserve that but he really should have scored at least 1 of his opportunities.

I dunno, RVP changes when playing for the national side but the Denmark game was an exceptional poor performance from him and it cost us but I still don't want to see him benched. in saying that Huntelaar missed a couple of chances as well when he came on so it wasn't only RVP but still...

I can't help but feel that if RVP was wearing an Arsenal shirt on the weekend he would have scored. He's just diffierent for the national side and that upsets me. I love Arsenal a lot but i love my national team too and don't like it when we lose, especially when we dominate the way we did. We were all over Denmark and have nothing to show for it...

Its a shame Holland might not get through but if you can't miss chances like that.
RVP benefits from the system Arsenal play. Huntelaar would be better starting although as you said, he missed a great chance so maybe it just wasn't the day.

"Far too good to be on the bench" famous last words. If he doesn't belong in the system, then he shouldn't be used in the system.

Spain/Italy is the game of the tournament so far.

I seriously can't wait for Barca - Juve next season (if it ever happens). Last night was like watching a teaser of things to come.

Weakened version of the two obviously.
Ibra >>>>>>>>>> Villa

Never thought I'd say this one day: Fry, you're dead to me.

Does anyone else look at Marchisio and get reminded of a Lizalfos? I don't know why.

I can see it.

Sounds very simar to the problems Ledley King has had with his knees.

So Schalke are talking to VDVs agent. If that move happens I'm going to slit my wrists.

Dutch GAF, how good is Vurnon Anita of Ajax? Newcastle have made an offer for him.
Pretty good, i feel he was really important in winning the championship this year as an anchorman. A good defensive midfielder who knows how to put pressure on enemy players and always seems to work hard. Would rather have him than Mark van Bommel in the Dutch national squad as a DM to be honest.

Not sure if he would succeed in the premier league though. He is like 1.65m tall.

Italy-Spain was our first match in a lot of years that I was able to watch until the end without falling asleep. The entire team played pretty well, De Rossi was incredible, so were Buffon, Marchisio, Pirlo (dat assist) and Cassano, I guess. Maggio didn't fully conviced me, like Giaccherini (but it was his first match against one of the best team out there, so no worries) and Balotelli (way too nervous). If we keep playing like this I can easily see us getting to the semifinals.

Weren't Barca and Juve supposed to play against each other this summer in the Gumper Trophy? Last year was hilarious, seeing Napoli losing 5-0 was just perfect for both Mazzarri and De Laurentiis.

I enjoyed today's F1 race more than both Euro matches, but I may be biased!

the tournament has been pretty boring so far, but group stages are not that exciting unless is a group of death. knockout stage is when it gets awesome.

I honestly have no idea why Balotelli didn't just take a crack on net when he was all alone. Prandelli said he should have passed to Cassano, but a low drive around Casillas and he's the hero.

Mou commented that he likes Italy, thought they played well, and could potentially win the tournament--but he still dislikes Balotelli :D

Also, for what it's worth, the Daily Mail and the Mirror have headlines about racist chants against Balotelli. Grain of salt and all that.
