I'll take a small bit of comfort from the fact that at roughly the same point last season, the result was reversed, with Liverpool winning 0-2 at Arsenal, causing predictions that Liverpool had top 4 wrapped up & Arsenal were gonna end up mid-table. A lot can change over a season, though of course the game last season happened pre-deadline day, after which Arsenal bought in several new players & Liverpool sold Meireles, which were key factors over the season.

WTF??

De Gea has been dropped.

Lindegaard, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia, Kagawa, Welbeck, RVP

Has to be an injury. Why would there be a delay in naming him for the bench otherwise? No matter, Lindegaard looked excellent midweek in the U21s.

Fergie, that crafty bastard, talking up Evans with Rio in mind to start.

Nani deserves to be benched, for now at least. Needs to wake up and regain consistency throughout the 90 minutes; even if he does track-back he's become complacent, skating by on a few moments of talent in game situations. Also makes sense to test out the wing-forward system with Welbeck on the left for when Rooney comes back and we want to accommodate Rooney, RVP, Shinji and Nani in the forward line against the big teams.

Edit: Hmm, looks like De Gea is available. Always feel comfortable with Anders but I am uncomfortable with the idea of chopping and changing the GK in the league.

People talk about our sloppy defending but Liverpool have conceeded 7 goals in 3 games, we've conceeded none with 2 of our games being away from home.

Lets be honest here, that was pretty much Arsenal's second 11. This was our first team while Lucas is out. Gerrard, Enrique and Reina are letting us down badly.

Fergies 1000th league game.

"Sir Alex has steered the Reds to victory in almost 60 per cent of those games and tasted defeat just 168 times. In all, he's amassed a remarkable average of 2.03 points per game over his 26-year reign. In that time, United have scored 1863 goals and conceded just 890, a goal difference of +973."

Enrique? WTF? completely shut down their right side today, absolutely no idea why you would single him out.

some facts off twitter..
First time Arsenal have kept 3 successive league sheets in the first 3 games of a league season for 88 years.
Arsenal remain unbeaten whenever Vito Mannone has started a competitive game - the count has now risen to 10

it was delicious odds for both Arsenal to win and Podolski to score.. looked at them prior, 3.75 for Arsenal. idiotic to not put money down.

This is going to be a long 4 months for Liverpool. It sad to think that the team is owned by people who knows shit all about football and don't want to spend on a quality striker.

Shouldn't have let Andy go. I wasn't to keen on Rodgers and I think his treatment of Carroll has been appalling.

Watching the wrong game bub.

Brilliant, it'll be a sad day when he decides to step down as manager.

If DDG has been dropped because of the OG, that'll be dumb as heck.

Harsh but Fergie loves rotation, so De Gea's ongoing issue with commanding the area when high balls come into the box was probably an irresistible excuse for him to stick Lindegaard in against a low-threat team.

Even if Drogba is released he can't sign for a Premier League club until January 1st as he would've been released after the transfer deadline? Whereas Owen can join anyone at anytime because he wasn't registered at a club.

Well that was bullshit. Utter bullshit. Rodgers needs to do better, the club need to do better, and the players need to do better. Allen, Shelvey and Sterling were the only ones who turned up. Arsenal looked faster, fitter and most importantly wanted it much more. Liverpool didn't pressurise well, the defense and midfield were too deep and by God we miss Lucas. Sahin wasn't match fit, Gerrard was awful, nothing worked for Suarez (seriously, how can you not get around a giant traffic cone like Meterzacker?). Reina...we need to sack Achterberg and ger back Xavi Valero because Reina's been shit since Achterberg came in as GK coach.

Shelvey did well because he seemed to want it, kicked Diaby which was needed badly. He's big and awkward, needed to be chopped. Lucas could've done that without giving away free kicks, but Shelvey did the next best thing. Sahin wasn't match fit and Borini is completely lost on the right wing. Downing improved things a little simply because he's a natural winger. Absolutely awful. Gutless and sloppy performance.

Also: what did Jordan Henderson do to Rodgers? Did he insult his mother or something? Clearly we needed more energy in the middle and with Gerrard awful he could've moved him wide right and stuck Henderson and Shelvey on in the middle to give energy. Henderson has the energy to track and move forward and back. It's poor management from Rodgers to seemingly hate on Henderson despite his good performance in the week and clearly great basic play.

Also, fuck off Jamie Redknapp, Michael Owen is a **** and if he moves to us I'm finished with Liverpool this year. I will not support a team with him in it. Simple as. He can go fuck himself with a manc flagpole and then take Howard Webb with him.

No, we definitely should have let Carroll go. We should just have replaced him like Rodger's wanted.

This. It will be very weird to see United without Fergie.
