Sydney, nice. Streaming to the rescue, I guess.

The American Juve?

Saw it coming from a mile away, lol. Paliemmo in B, bitch.

Yeah, obviously but he plays for Atlético Madrid anyway so he would've to move to a "third team" and then move to Real Madrid. I don't think he would fit in Real Madrid anyway, he isn't and ass. He would end up getting the Kaká treatment.

Kaka gets the Kaka treatment because he's shit. Falcao would OWN the #9. And how are OUR players asses? Didn't Ribery and Robben go to fisticuffs last season?

There's an agreement between the two clubs to not buy players from each other, I think.

As if that agreement means anything, considering it's highly highly unlikely any player would want to move from Real to Atletico :lol But yeah, the gentleman agreement does exist, I think. But fuck it, Falcao is the best damn striker I've seen in recent times.

Robben is a former Real Madrid player and Ribéry was about to be one a few years ago.
Kaká is great, but he doesn't fit the ass-attitude of RM :)

How is the A-League doing anyway?

as someone who is somewhat involved in this league (a nationally accredited referee, whom is not refereeing AL just yet), its doing a lot better than the NSL and Football in Australia since its complete revolution is getting bigger and better. the clubs themselves are still having issues but some of that is related to FFA and some of it is related to poor management.

baby steps first but this signing is MASSIVE. The tv rights for Sydney games just went through the roof and international broadcasters will want those games now. If sydney qualify for Asian Champs League in 2nd year of his contract, its going to be gigantic

Now you're gonna tell me Kaka's better than CR.

Kaká is a CAM, CR7 is a winger. But Kaká is class. And CR7 is the best RM player.

I see, thanks for the info. I guess playing in stadiums with 50,000 capacity isn't helping at all.

Fuck me, this is what it's like to be Salazar, or Morsel, or something.

Staying up for sport is difficult, don't know how you guys do it so consistently. Luckily I don't have to get up until 11, but otherwise I'd be tucked up in bed right now.

Cmon we aren't as bad as the Saints

Pats are more...Man City than United. The team was irrelevant until we drafted Drew motherfuckin' Bledsoe and we didn't start winning consistently until Brady emerged 11 years ago

The Pats are cheaters too though but I agree they're not dirty thugs like the saints. I actually like Tom Brady because he is the opposite of matt ryan in that he has unbelievable composure in the pocket. Matt sees a huge D lineman and shits his pants :(

It's rough. Especially those 5:30 matches on a Saturday morning.

You get used to it. I go to bed at 4am on Sunday mornings thanks to the EPL

I just don't stay up - i've found it is much easier to go to sleep at the usual time & set an alarm for when the game is on. Of course something at 11 or 12 it would be easier to just stay awake, but since most often you're looking at 2am, 3am games, going to sleep first makes things a lot easier.

Biscuits, cider, pornography, miscellaneous editing and teaching prep.

It is a bloody awful feeling going to bed in the morning after a defeat, though.

I just go into training mode for whatever fighting game I'm playing at the time. The minute I try to watch something, or read, I'll fall asleep.

I usually have to drive home after watching games because I don't have Foxtel at home.

A 15 minute drive at 4am can be a bit dicey, especially when you are wired on caffeine.

Oi. Some of my students are older than me. I'll not be slandered.

My year 10 English teacher used to refer to her other half as 'Mr Schlong', thinking we didn't understand what she was implying. She had a top arse, too, squiggling about in her tight work pants. Explains my narrow grasp of adjectives.

Beast.

Why would someone wear shoes indoors? The other question I have, is how many of you take off your shoes once you enter your home?

Why would a person willingly wear their shoes inside all day..something I just won't ever get. They do it in TV shows and movies but surely its not like that everywhere in the USA, right?

Fabregas told Radio Marca: 'There's no such thing as a great substitute in the world of football. I couldn't tell you what makes a great substitute. I always wish my team-mates well and put a happy face on. If I have to take my unhappy face home then so be it, but I would never let my team-mates or manager see it.'

'Everybody likes to play every minute of the season,' he added. 'I've always said that I play for the best team in the world, but I came here to compete, to learn and enjoy, not to sit wracking my brains. The manager knows what I can offer. But across the three positions that I can play, I am competing with the three best players in the world. I'm delighted to be a part of this team but when a coach tells me I have to go, I'll go. But I will not make it easy for him to do so, by any means. I will keep going, looking forward to the time that things change. I came here to see out my career.'

If he wants to play he has to start playing well, pretty simple tbh.

I bet on two NFL matches and lost each time, even fell asleep during one of them. Shitty sport.

Though I don't think it's shitty, it certainly gets me bored much quicker than say Cricket or Golf. Superbowl is like a concert with Black Eyed Peas and various other artists with a few minutes of tackles/ball throwing here and there. I dunno. But it's all dependent on the preference of people obviously, I'm sure there are countless NFL fans who think our football is boring.

I had heard something, but never checked it out. Figured it would be a typical overpriced service.

The only problem is that I prefer to watch football with other people and that is the main reason I go to my friend's place to watch.

I'll definitely look into this further for the times I don't want to drive.

Thanks Choc!

Owen said he was "particularly excited" at the prospect of working under Stoke manager Tony Pulis.

"He has assembled a great squad that I look forward to joining," said Owen. "I'm now looking forward to contributing as much as possible to the club and can't wait to play in front of a great set of supporters."

He added: "We have been in talks for a while and it was a club I was always keen to join."

  1. I don't think anyone has ever used the words great squad to describe Stoke's bunch of thugs.
  2. If by contribution he means a few games from the bench before an inevitable injury, then I guess he's telling the truth
  3. So, if he has been negotiating with Stoke for a while, then why was he talking about all of these "top clubs" who were interested in signing him

Fucking wanker!

So close to using the Jt word right now.

Noticed a good amount of you guys watching the NFL tonight. For some reason I feel like NFL has less of a chance or rather the sport of American Football has no chance compared to football outside of the US. Even more so than Football trying to become popular in the US.

This game tonight lulled on forever and didn't get interesting till the very end. So many commercials, longer halftime, I dunno how people would adjust to that.

Yeah, I highly doubt that it will be able to catch on anywhere else in the world when you consider the immediacy of a game like rugby. For the new observer, it is far easier to understand and appreciate.

I have never watched a game of American football and don't think I would have the patience to appreciate it's more nuanced approach

Not sure which NFL team to support myself. I think I'll do what somebody here suggested and just follow this season and tag onto a young QB and back his team.

Green Bay Packers. A storied franchise based in a 'city' of less than 150,000 people - and is (afaik) the one publicly owned team in the NFL. And they actually win championships.

I feel the same, passing around the back in our football might be boring to some but it surely isn't more boring than commercials or when they just stand..though as I said earlier its down to preference obviously. I don't see it getting big in Europe, our football has a bigger chance of getting big in the USA.

Is there no MotD equivalent for NFL? Think I could get into it more if I could just watch highlights and then the odd exciting game now and then

Is it wrong to think that running blades look pretty cool?

Also, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out is one of the greatest songs of all time. probably listened to it a few hundred times, still exquisite
