Arsenal are preparing an £8m bid for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly turned his attention to landing the tough-tackling former FC Twente player after previously chasing top targets Sami Khedira and William Carvalho.
The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past, but Newcastle are believed to be ready to do business this time.
If the player moves to Arsenal he would follow former Newcastle team mate Mathieu Debuchy to north London. Tiote is reported to be keen to join the Gunners.

Tiote would be the first player of ours this Summer who I genuinely don't want to leave. I liked Debuchy but Janmaat looks the better player. Tiote though is the only pure tank DM we have. Getting rid of him would break out midfield in so many ways cos Sissoko, Anita and Colback can't do what he can.

Yeah for just £1.5m, injuries have really hurt his career and Palace will be lucky to get 20 games out of him in a season. Still, Pulis is a solid manager and hopefully he'll be able to bring out the best in Kelly now he's leaving Liverpool.
