Don't think it'll be official till tomorrow.

That would be one cold-hearted bastard to officially appoint Mourinho and fire van Gaal as he's drinking champagne on the trip back to Manchester.

The BBC reporting it makes it 99.9% certain though.

I wonder it he'll continue as director of football or in some other position as recent rumours have suggested.

Van Gaal will know. Cmon. He's been on borrowed time for a while and missed the CL. Other clubs would have either sacked him by now or at least announced JM earlier (like City).

It's a bit better for him to get to win this Cup and then have the announcement after. I get what you're saying, today would have been brutal, but it's coming in the next few days.

I respect the guy for trying but I just don't think he had what it takes in the EPL.

Nah. United was able to, in just 2 years, lose the competitive respectability they had acquired in Europe. He's gonna change that.

Even Fergie managed to grind average squads decently far into Europe. Biggest thing LvG lacks is no touchline presence and little emotion. That is needed in the EPL and at a club like this.

Having your assistant manager constantly need to be the one on the lines is not good enough. Giggs should stay on if JM will work with him, but I understand if he leaves to manage elsewhere. He's just not ready for this job yet.

JM will give the team some more passion. Just hopefully not too much crying. Some spikey conferences are fine like the master Fergie but JM none of your depressing rants please. I think Chelsea had a lot more issues in the camp at the end than just JM though.

Remember the performance today was hardly glowing. Not like LvG had a last ditch masterpiece to wow us. Palace could have sneaked it.

LVG walked out of the press conference, waving the FA Cup (without lid) at the media and saying "thank you for the congratulations" #mufc

Understandably pissed off all the press asked about was JM..

Sky News running it as well now

Sky News understands Louis Van Gaal's final act as United manager was lifting the FA Cup at Wembley.

Sky sources say Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will arrive in the UK to finalise a deal next week.

Manchester United have declined to comment.

Waiting until mid-week will just be cruel though. Whoever has leaked this in such certainty is a harsh bastard.

What if Mou also fails? What if the problems lie elsewhere?

Then United gave it a shot with a confirmed manager who's done well in the EPL. Plus I think Fergie might get wheeled back out of retirement... Club will be in one heck of a shape if they don't have it right this time. Has to be title challenge with top 4 minimum and getting to the Europa semi/final.

Bigger question is, who is going to be more loveable? City or UTD fans?

None. Although us Scottish Man Utd fans aren't too bad :p I don't hate any other clubs for example! Nice football guy.

There's a lot of foul mouthed crybaby Man Utd fans, have no issue admitting that.

Big Zlatan Ibrahimovic still scoring tonight as well!
